The 52 Game Challenge 2015

Recommended Posts

It's been a while since I posted in here but...

Mega Man 5 (Legacy Collection, PS4) - 100% Complete (Done on Livestream)

The Mega Man game honestly was the worst in the NES series for me. Weapons and bosses were really uninspired, and in general, it's a whole ball of meh, with a lot of cheapness.

Mega Man 6 (Legacy Collection PS4) - 100% Complete (Done on Livestream)

And this is close to my favourite Mega Man game. All weapons felt good and useful, the music was really great, cheapness was gone for the most part, with exception to a few areas, and overall I just really enjoyed it.

I can back Ryan up on this - I saw him do it on Livestream. Wasn't able to get a pic for 5, but here's one of him finishing 6:

Updated to include Shade's long awaited entry!

I am glad to officially announce that I finished 52 games!

WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

What is my 52nd game? It is Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

My Verdict:

https://meltingcomet.wordpress.com/2015/08/28/finishing-metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-the-new-monster-hunter/

I wished I played this game sooner. Oh I wished. It takes so many influences from Monster Hunter, but carves out the Metal Gear Solid foundation. With Monster Hunter's tactic/strategy-based mechanics and Metal Gear's fun stealth action, it's an absolute beast of the game. Except for the cliffhanger and Chapter 5 parts, those are stupid.

I'll join you Klonoa, I just did Peace Walker too!

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker HD (PS3)

Screenshot shows after Zeke boss of me getting the Outer Heaven trophy for finishing Chapter 5, the final chapter. So what did I think? Not too shabby if I do say so. Sure, I hated the Zeke battle and the torture session but otherwise, a good strong game. It got me much better at the stealth and I feel such a sense of accomplishment with my Mother Base (curse you Ground Zeroes!). With this, I am ready for Phantom Pain.

Edit: I'll add in another one here too

11885218_10203670299112086_3862720046300

Sonic Adventure 2 HD (PS3)

What can I say, this is my favourite game of all time. I know, the SSMB likes to rag on it and loathe it but I don't care. This is the high point to me. Fantastic (a bit dumb, but still fantastic) story, fun gameplay (what of it, I like all the play styles), spectacular soundtrack and just overall, fantastic. This will always by my favourite game.

BANJO-KAZOOIE (Xbox Live Arcade, Part of Rare Replay for Xbox One. Original version on Nintendo 64)
 FULL CLEAR

Mumbo has pictures of things.

C2RrByB.png

It's Banjo-Kazooie, I think everyone knows about it from now. One of Rare's greatest from yesteryear, it still holds up today. I have to say though, I forgot how challenging some bits can be such as Rusty Bucket Bay's Engine Room and the final battle! The Xbox Live version, and also the Rare Replay version, was ported by 4J Studios (the ones now behind Minecraft), and they did a really good job. My actual favorite thing is how Stop & Swap was reinstated, and not only for Nuts & Bolts but also for Tooie.

Well, here's my next batch. Not many, don't worry.

Lufia: The Legend Returns (3DS VC)

Beat the game, I attempted to get 100% but I accidentally used Providence to escape the Ancient Cave on 186F. So I'm just sharing Start Over, and maybe eventually I'll clear out the Ancient game, that's the ONLY major thing I have left. I beat the Egg Dragon, I got all Ancient Text/IP (except D-End Flash, which I need to beat the AC for), all the best weapons, all magic for every character. I do have about 20 regular chests left to find... I'll probably attempt to do that as well.

I'm sharing the "Star Over" option because this proves I beat the game, you can't unlock this mode without beating the game first.

Final Fantasy V - 100% (FF Anthology PS1)

Beat the game and got everything, as well as beating both bonus bosses Omega and Shinryu.

I don't want to replay the ending again, so you'll have to take me on my word about beating the game. :P

Proof I beat Shinryu:

Status:

Didn't bother getting all levels to 99, not really necessary. Does that matter? I didn't think it would.

Ocarina of Time 3D 100%

Just the normal game, not Master Quest. Do I need to complete Master Quest count as well? I doubt it since its technically a separate game, it was just included on the cartridge this time...

Just beat OOT 3D so let's add this one as well. That's just about every single Zelda game now completed this year. I do still have to do the original LoZ, though.

And then another one.

Banjo-Tooie Full Clear (part of Rare Replay for Xbox One. XBLA version, also on N64)

TyZEoeM.png

I actually kind of forgot how she lost her eye inbetween Tooie and Nuts & Bolts...

z0t6lI0.png

Just like the its prequel, Banjo-Tooie was an essential title for the Nintendo 64, and one of the reasons Rare is so beloved. The thing that stuck out to me, when replaying this, was just how damn big it was. It's hard to believe they actually pulled that scale off with the tech of the time, but they did, because Rare. Actually found the final boss in this one quite a bit easier than Kazooie's, but the challenge is still there in ones such as Mr. Patch and Weldar. Also, Canary Mary never again. My arm still hurts, and I DID the trick where you wait to mash until the end.

Updated with Conando's Banjo-Tooie, and added three more games to my list; 2 more games and I'll be victorious!

Rogue Legacy  (Steam, Cellar Door Games)

nJvhhrv.png

Now, what is this game, exactly? A Metroidvania game with Rogue-like elements, mixed with RPGs-styled upgrades and an excuse plot that still makes this game special in its own way. It's hard to describe the feelings I got from Rogue Legacy, and the game itself may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I really liked it. It soon transformed from a simple time-waster to a top-notch adventure. Praise to Lady Blair XIX, the child who finally broke the curse of the RNG-ruled castle.

Megaman:Powered Up! (With Halloween Roll) (PSP, Capcom)

XCc48Uo.png

I finished Megaman 1 countless times, but last week I felt like replaying the Blue Bomber's first adventure once again. So I went for the remake on the PSP. With so many characters to choose from, I decided to spice up things a little by playing as Roll, whose only attack consists in swinging her broom around. It still wasn't challenging enough, I finished the "New Mode" in one hour and something, but I got my Mega-fun nevertheless.

Alien VS Predator (With good old Predator Warrior!)

lbBPI7o.png

I am a HUGE "Predator" fan; not as much as I am a Megaman or Sonic fan, but I get a kick everytime I watch this perfect hunter on the field. So, when I finally got to play the beat'em-up made by Capcom, I HAD to play as the Predator Warrior, that ugly motherf***er, against those pesky humans and Xenomorphs! It was....you could say...a blast?

Bloodborne PS4 100%

Bloodborne is absolutely magnificent. I've just gushed about how great it is in the official thread. So all I'll say is, this, this is your reason to own a PS4, Bloodborne is one of the finest games I have played for a long time, it is truely a stunning game. Forget Demons and Dark Souls, Bloodborne is it's own thing, you are thrown into a world where you must fight for your life, you must fight or else you will die.

Get Bloodborne, thank me later.

Updated with Hogfather's 100% Bloodborne run (congratulations, I say), and added "3D Gunstar Heroes" (Sega, Nintendo 3DS) to my list.
I freaking love this game, and I'm glad I finally got to play it the legal way. It's a little on the short side, but I'm sure that the "Hard Mode" will be enough of a challenge!

The Godfather II --- PS3 --- 100%

This was.... a pretty poor game.

If you're not a fan of the Godfather movies you probably won't like it, and if you're a fan of the movies you probably won't like it. Godfather 2 isn't that great, there are tons of sandbox type crime games out there which do what this does and they do it so much better.

Pretty much the only use for this is if you want a quick trophy boost, kinda disappointed in it since I really enjoyed the first game.

Star Fox 64 3D (3DS) Hard Course clear

wnoYaEs.jpg

q7uUWTa.jpg

It still hurts, SSMB. That delay of Zero is getting to me. I don't care if it's a "retread" of 64 when 64 was the best game of the series. Infinitely replayble to me due to its short length, alternating paths, and score attack. I did a Hard Course run, because it's actually kind of hard for me to end up going anywhere other than through Aquas now.

(Yes my real name is Kevin, I do not give enough of a damn to scribble that out)

After 20 days, I can finally add this one to my list.

12003901_10203790767523721_5372228676969

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (PS3)

A HIDEO KOJIMA GAME. So. The finale. What a big deal. Overall? The Gameplay is amazing. What a Metal Gear game has always wanted to be. I do enjoy doing missions MY way. I particularly enjoy placing C4 on a guy and let him wander into the heart of a base before setting it off. The only problem is the change in story. It's sad that you can smell executive meddling all over it. Chapter 1 is good but Chapter 2 is mostly recycled stuff. With the evidence of cut content, parts of the game feel really neutered. The twist is big and confuses lots of people but man, it puts MGS2's Snake/Raiden incident to mind. Oh, and Quiet is my favourite AI character to ever exist. Rest up Kojima san (unless you can get mission 51 as dlc), you deserve it.

Entry 18: Megaman Zero 2

31LcurN.jpg

First-time players will have a tough time with this one *raises hand*. Curiously, after the first five stages, the game actually gets...easier?. Only had trouble with Fefnir and Harpuia, the other two were surprisingly easy...even the four Neo Arcadia stages were not as hard as I thought...heck, even the final boss was a piece of cake.

But if players get stuck, the game makes things easier for them by including new features like Zero´s Forms or...the annoying rank system that lets you get bosses´ attacks if you get an A (there are even elves for that), but I´d say that charging+weakness is good enough, it is not that hard, actually.

Other than that, nothing to say about the actual stages, other than...they got kinda lazy in this game. Lots of recycled stages, music...even the level design is not that good either. Neo Arcadia could be better in that aspect imo. Even the last stage.

But zero 2 is a huge improvement over the first game, so much that Zero 1 feels outdated now. Everything is better organized now. The story is better than the first game (Although I wish the bad guy wasn´t so obvious) and has quite a plot twist that will left gamers surprised. Sadly, I spoiled myself so I wasn´t that impressed...^^u

Mega Man 5 & 6 should be 100% on my profile btw.

With that...

100% Game No. 39/Game No.56: Gravity Rush (Vita) - 100% Complete

Proof: http://psnprofiles.com/trophies/1301-GRAVITY-RUSH/ryannumber3gamer (Look at the platinum date)

Decided to replay Gravity Rush and fully complete it 100% this time. I seriously love this game, even if the controls for stuff such as the gravity slide suck,

Mega Man X (Super Nintendo/Super Famicom, Capcom) All upgrades and items clear

First picture is just for proof of all tiems, you can't get the Hadoken from the special Dr. Light capsule unless you've collected all armor upgrades, heart tanks, and sub tanks.

5xnF9hP.png

NUz4782.png

It's Mega Man X! The game that almost became a game about Zero instead of Mega Man! (Well in reality Zero was just the redesign for Mega Man). Challenging jump and shoot game of course, but most of it is fair except for Launch Octopus. Fuck Launch Octopus, he's garbage. You know, that's a thing I really like about the X series in comparison to the mainline, something about the Mavericks being a bunch of animal based robots with stupid names really speaks to me.

100% Complete Game No.40/Game No.57: Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale (Vita, Superbot Entertainment, Sony) - 100% Complete

http://psnprofiles.com/trophies/1735-PlayStation-All-Stars-Battle-Royale/ryannumber3gamer (Check platinum date)

Oh boy, this one took a long time. Basically, I started this around Late February or Early March 2015, and left it. Why? Put it simply. There's 24 arcade stories to complete in this game, and completing just one of them is so fucking boring. What happened is where I left the characters I'm not good with until the very end, and ended up getting burnt out on the game and taking a long break from it.

Then when I completed Gravity Rush, I decided to look at what other games I started this year and still had to finish, and saw All-Stars, so I did the remaining 8 arcade stories I had to do, and 100% completed All-Stars.

Cleared Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary (Part of the Master Chief Collection for Xbox One)

HW5Rg6U.png

RIP.

I haven't played the original Halo in forever and I have to say, it probably hasn't aged as well as the rest of the series, but you still see what's there in it that created one of the best first person shooter series out there. It's more of a marriage of the old and new rather than purely modern like CoD, though in this one some of the old things don't really mesh well with the improved controls over the run and gun days of Doom and Goldeneye (there's one stage that feels particularly Doom-ish but it just does NOT work with the more calculated aiming Halo requires). Still, excellent game that led to even better ones.

Alsoh, holy mother of god does the original Xbox version look like garbage. The MCC version of the Anniversary Edition allows instant swapping by pressing the back button (or whatever the hell it's called on the Xbox One's controller, something like Menu button I'm sure), and it just looks like muddy textures upon muddy textures, or no textures at all, with next to no lighting. In the updated graphics, you can easily tell what each Flood type is supposed to be possessing, but in the original version they just look like...I don't even know, giant tumors. It really speaks for how far graphics have come in a little over a decade.

Also, here's my Live profile just to provide a source for the image and also for the achievement of clearing the game.

Heavy Rain (PS3)

Oh yes, many Shaun's and Jason's were had. This game's story is fantastic, sure I've heard of what was cut but it was still damn fun without it. I really bonded with the characters (Love Jayden and Shelby) and really just enjoyed the overall feeling of this drama. A must play for PS3.

Final Fantasy X --- Vita --- 100%

It was my favourite Final Fantasy when it first came out, it's still my favourite Final Fantasy now. FFX is an absolutely wonderful RPG, really good story, beautiful ending, really great characters and some really good character designs.

Utterly tons of replay value and even now it still holds up as being a really great game.

Though one thing I will admit to... Yeah the dialogue can be kinda naff and Tidus has to be the most goofy hero in any game. e.g "This TV doesn't work... hmmm I'll punch it!"

Metal Gear (MSX/PS3) - 100%

A HIDEO KOJIMA GAME.This was fun. Sure, the 1 hit death barrels are jerks and those pitfalls can be a bummer but hey, I had fun seeing how this series began. Though seeing the plan is called Operation Intrude n313 makes an Easter Egg in MGSV make sense now...
