I see more people complaining about people complaining about Sonic being in a car than I do of people complaining that Sonic is in a car...

I'd just like to see the whole fight drop and talk about something else with the game that's actually worth talking about, XD.

The thing that grabs my attention most are the items actually. I'm actually pretty curious to see what they are. Will there be some original stuff like Billy Hatcher homing chicken missles? Or a lame knock off of DK's banana's but only this time they are Aiai's? I can definitely see something like Sonic's shield (let it be just a normal one or the elemental ones) being in the game.

I also hope that Sonic gets some other level such as Chemical Plant Zone or something, just so I can finally see what an old level besides Green Hill looks like in next gen 3D pretty graphics, 8D.

I remember complaining about the concept of Sonic being on a hoverboard because the whole game is built around the notion of I'LL SHOW YOU WHAT TRUE SPEED IS and it's like, Sonic's actually taking up the challenge of some mentally deranged schmuck (green bird) who needs a hoverboard to fly and can't do so with his wings. I still stand by this being a retarded concept, despite the Riders games themselves being pretty fun.

As for this game though, I have absolutely no views on Sonic being a car, it doesn't seem like it's going to have a dumb story built around it (or will it!?) anyway, and if Sonic had not been in a car, we wouldn't have seen Big on his scooter. However, I do think that people need to chill when it comes to others expressing their dislike for the concept. So some people don't like the idea of Sonic being in a car - big deal, am I right? Right? Or maybe not...

I mean, just as long as Sega doesn't come up with a story in which Sonic uses a car to save the world.

Sumo Digital is usually pretty good at not putting story where there doesn't need to be one.

Sonic's shields has already been seen in a couple of gameplay videos. If Vectorman's in it, I'm hoping to see that crazy screen clearing thing as some kind of AoE attack. I'd also love to see the backup from Streets of Rage make an appearance, they could hit seemingly any target.

It would be quite a bombshell if they were to include stages where everyone pilots flying things, for a NiGHTS or Skies of Arcadia stage, but that would have probably already been revealed if it were to happen, and might lead to this thread going in circles some more (Why is NiGHTS flying a plane? Why do you care so much!?)

I actually though that part of the Riders story was okay. He was a hoverboard racer that used his wing to glide which gave in an advantage and he was a show off. On the board, he was faster than inexperienced Sonic, so Sonic sees it as a challenge and decides to race against him.

I love Big on a scooter.

Think about this, what if there was a DC racer and they wanted the Flash in the game? Would you still make it on foot? How would anyone else possibly win?!! (Well, maybe Superm- No! No. It's already been proven Flash is faster.

That is debatable. If we were to look at Chaos Control as Hyper-Speed to the extent of an instantaneous warp (as it is often displayed) Sonics body would have had to withstand a relative limit level of speed and came out unharmed.

In other words, Sonics body can (and has) withstood speeds exceeding those of the Flash

Sonic > Flash.

The criticism is tired, and hugely annoying. It's a spin-off and really doesn't matter that much. You're post provoked me to say that, but only because there's been a thousand more like that in this topic alone.

Thing is, I didn't rant about it, I breifly mentioned it, so you over reacted big time.

But whatever, as I said it does look like it has the potential to be a fun game, so I don't see what the problem here is as far as my post was concerned.

It's funny you should say that, because out of every individual I've seen mention this particular pink elephant, the only individuals I've seen actually seen argue in favor of it have been people posting on Sonic sites.

Who said I was talking specifically about "this particular pink elephant"? The fandom in general is known for its rampant stupidity, and there's only a few select communities out there that have the wit to deny that. I'd just rather people didn't further make an example of themselves with silly, trivial crap like this and just look at a game for what it is. Not directed at anyone in particular btw, in case it seemed that way - the topic sprung up and I felt the need to vent, no point in holding it back. I'll drop it just as quickly as anyone else if they kindly don't mention it again.

Incidentally in a rare moment of agreement with you I find myself looking forward to some kind of Streets of Rage cameo - I was hoping for something in Superstars Tennis but obviously, no such luck there. It'd be nice to see Axel Stone in a Ferrari or something and have mortar-toting backup cops stride in for his All-Star move, but hell, I'll take a brightly lit city track decorated with casinos and large neon-boomerang-throwing mobsters if it means the franchise gets acknowledged again.

That is correct. In fact, I had a dream last night about remembering that Shadow was in the game.

Virgo seems to think I dislike this game for putting Sonic in a car. I'd prefer he not be in one because it makes better use of his unique traits.

Urgh! I hate how this has become a topic of "why is sonic in a car vs why shouldnt he be in it?" Well in my honest opinion I think its fine for him to be in a car, cause its a KART game, he has to be in one, but still if they think he shouldnt be just let them be! dammit! lets talk about speculations of characters, stages, items or anything else! I also agree Sonic should have another stage, he probably will, since he got two in sega superstars tennis...and now that I think about it, it also has the same first stage...so eggman base racing stage? owo DO want! I really dont know about items...perhaps an egg from billy hatcher, bananas from AiAi, spray from Jet Set(Grind) Radio it would act like oil in mario kart. what do you guys think?

If just to completely rip off Mario Kart, I'd love to see Billy Hatchers eggs roll along the track, crack open, and scatter a few random items, just like in Double Dash. Or to be more original, the egg could contain a few of those little creatures that you can get to follow you in the game and have them do their little signiture move.

You know, I was thinking about the name of ASR earlier. Think this here may have anything to do with why it isn't called SEGA Superstars Racing? Chaos Control has been depicted as user acceleration throughout the natural environment several times (like in ShtH). Its just the controller moving so fast that it seems like warping. The very fact that Sonics body can withstand such a speed, says something when put next to the Flash, who basically dies if he passes a certain point. Sonics body can handle more speed than the Flash, even if it isnt his own power.

Besides, Sonic has been seen doing some other nifty things with his speed in other mediums. Like Flash, he can phase through objects by accelerating his molecules and he can drill through objects with just his rotation (also like Flash). The fact that Sonics body clearly is shown to have more upside, lends some leverage to Sonic being the faster of the 2.

Hmmmm... I'll agree that Sonic appears to become invincible when he reaches a certain speed. (Look at what happens when just gets a few power rings in "Unleashed". He can just run through robots!!) However, that doesn't mean the Flash could not reach those speeds as well. Plus, we are talking with the power of the Chaos Emeralds. That's basically steroids!

Regular Sonic vs. Regular Flash = No contest. Flash wins!!

This is an interesting debate. Let's just move it to a different thread.

Also, if someone would like to make a thread discussing the specifics of Sonic's powers, I would love that.
