Those pieces of Lavender Town music, both real and fake, really are unsettling.

Feels like the whole 'Dead Bart' thing all over again...

Its pretty bad that I still can't get the sound out of my head. And to think stuff like this went way over my head when I was 10.(weather fake or real)also

Also forgive my clumsyness but what is Dead Bart?

Well if you don't plan on going to sleep tonight, okay.

Dead Bart is a creepypasta about a "lost" episode of the Simpsons that an Intern saw where Bart dies of an accident. The tape is suppose to be all fucked up, showing an immense amount of gore, disturbing subliminal ads, and it's just weird all together. Then after about 20 minutes or so of creepy crying and grieving, they show a tombstone where it has Celebrity names of all those who are going to die in the future. The final image is the Simpsons sitting on the couch all realistic like but looking dead like Bart's Corpse.

Now whether you want to believe this bullshit or not is up to you

EDIT: Damn you Alice and your ability to post two minutes before me!

Fun fact 1: In Pokemon Red and Blue, if you run away from fighting a missigno the sixth item in your backpack will be duplicated.

Fun fact 2: If you catch Missigno it will have a human sprite in your team roster.

Fun fact 3: Safari Zone pokemon can be challenge in the same spot where Missigno is found after you find Missigno

If two Ditto fight in Red Blue or Yellow, the battle will never end. Ditto will copy the enemy Ditto with Transform, and thus have 5 PP of the enemy Ditto's attacks...which is Transform. Each turn the Ditto transforms, the PP counter resets back to five, causing an infinite loop. The trainer can still run away or switch Pokemon to prevent this from happening; this is the reason why Ditto is never used by NPC trainers, so as to prevent a possible infinite battle that the trainer cannot run away from.

Likewise, in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, if two Wobbuffet face each other and they both have Leftovers, the battle will go on forever, as Wobbuffet can recover more HP from leftovers than the HP lost from the enemy's Wobbuffet's Struggle, thanks to its colossal HP, and Shadow Tag prevents switching out. This is the reason Wobbuffet was banned in RSE Smogon play. This complication was negated in DPPt.

The famous freeware game Yume Nikki (Debatable) Was heavily inspired by an obsecure PS1 game called LSD

Like LSD Yume nikki has no story, you explore scary dreams and collect items which eventually lead up to the games ending which lets you decide what the little girls dreams were about before she jumps off a building after waking up one final time

You think the name of Alucard from Castlevania was original BUT

Its a joking reference to a movie from the 1940s, Son of Dracula. With Count "Alucard" who pretends to be Draculau's son but turns out to be Dracula himself.

I never knew this...but!

Once Pokemon have run out of points in their move sets, don't they all do that counter thing?

Yes, and that's the issue. With Ditto copying the opponent's moveset and getting 5 PP of the moves for itself, a Ditto who transforms against an enemy Ditto with Transform will ALWAYS have 5 PP at the end of its turn. It will never be able to Struggle.

Wobbuffet will lose all its PP at some point, but the combined damage from the recoil from using Struggle and from taking damage from the enemy Wobbuffet's Struggle is still less than the HP recovered by a Max HP Wobbuffet, so it completely negates the damage taken.

In more Ditto-related fun, if a wild Pokemon in RBY is glitched to have Transform in its moveset, and it Transforms in battle, and the Pokemon is caught in the Transformed state, it turns into a Ditto.

So better hope that Level 10+ Mew you glitched in RBY doesn't use Transform!

Some random ones I found:

For those who have played "The World Ends With You", you should all remember this guy:

Minamimoto.jpg

Yeah, the guy who likes to make math references all the time.

When you fight him as a boss, his two forms have very interesting health levels: 3141 and 5926, the first 8 digits of pi.

In Pokemon Red/Blue, when you fight Blue (your rival) in Lavender Town (the fifth battle), he asks the hero if any of his pokemon died. The weird thing about this is that in the third rival battle of the game, Blue's party consists of a Pidgeotto, an Abra, one of the starters, and a Rattata. Then in the next battle, his party consists of Pidgeotto, Kadabra, an evolved starter, and a Raticate, showing how his Pokemon have evolved. In the fifth battle, The Pidgeotto, Kadabra, and the evolved starter pokemon are still present, with the other two slots being filled by either an Exeggcute, a Gyarados, and/or a Growlithe.

But the Raticate is nowhere to be found...Meaning that somewhere between the fourth and fifth battle, Blue's Raticate may have died (or Blue killed it off, being power-hungry bastard he is)...

180px-629Vullaby.png

Also, this Gen V Pokemon, Vullaby, is a vulture-esque Pokemon that wears a diaper.

Now look at the pic upside-down...

It's in the shape of a freakin' skull.

Not sure if these would count, but oh well.

This post contains lots of spoilers for both Silent Hill and the Movie Jacob's Ladder.

Silent Hill: Harry's Ladder.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJztRnDxdM8as the people who uploaded it are paranoia about embedding for some reason...

In 1990 a movie came out called Jacobs Ladder, without trying to give away the plot. Jacob is a war veteran in Vietnam, one day his unit without warning or reason has a panic attack and begins to kill one another. Jacob is stabbed and returns home where he becomes a postman.

Years later Jacob starts to see things which he can't believe are real. He gets chased by demons in the subway, sees visions of demons in the streets and is even haunted in his dreams by his dead son. As time goes on the visions become more intense to the point where he can't tell the difference between reality and his dreams.

Jacob's paranoia grows and when he speaks to his former army unit, he starts to believe that these are not tricks of the mind... but they're real.

Jacob starts to have more violent encounters with people and demons, he even ends up in a hell like hospital where patients are kept in cages and the treatments are basically torture.

Eventually he comes to the conclusion that he has died, he was killed in Vietnam. But his sould is trapped a place between the real world and the afterlife, his soul is trying everything it can do in order for him to leave the word and be reunited with his son in heaven. (very basic explanation). Every scenario is played out and every attempt to pass on is tried out which is torturing him, eventually he accepts what he must do and leaves into heaven with his son...

So what does all that have to do with Silent Hill?

Well... consider silent Hill's intro for a moment...

Harry is driving with his daughter when they crash. Harry wakes and enters Silent Hill. As the game goes on, Harry explores what he thinks is the real world in which he's chased by demons and mutated people. He also descends into the demon would in which is full of cages and chain link fences.

Even in the hospital stage, one can image the hell hospital being a place of torture, the patients kept in those cages with brutal medical procedures.

As the game goes on, the walls of reality mix, at one point it's hard to tell if the demon world is the real world and vice versa.

Now... if one is to just play Silent Hill from the start to finish, without using a guide... one would most likely get the Very Bad ending.

What happens in this ending? ... take a look...

[media=]

At the end of that video is a scene which shows Harry still in his car... he's dead, he never went into Silent Hill, everything that happened took place in his mind as he was dying, until he beat the final boss and his daughter thanked him. Harry at that point died. His soul tried to find his daughter and failed... Harry died.

Now... you then get the choice of starting a new game. Interestingly... if you get any other ending.... the car crash scene does NOT appear.

So whats going on? Well... like with Jacobs Ladder, Harry has in fact died/is dying right at the start of the game, his soul is trapped and is trying every possible scenario and every possible tactic to find his daughter... unlike simple living through what remains of his life, he's exploring Silent Hill in every way possible (this is the only way to get all endings), and trying out all possible outcomes (the boss fight with the doctor or the cop for example has two possible outcomes which affect the ending), until his soul, like Jacob, gets the peaceful resolution that it wants. Even the UFO ending, as random as it is can still fit into this explanation, Harry's soul is trying everything to find his daughter, even if it doesn't make sense or is paranormal. He can't rest until he finds her.

Now if one gets the best ending... there is another change. During the intro to the game, theres a scene with Harry, his wife and daughter.. but if you get the best ending, this changes and the cop replaces her. This is an indication that everyone in the game has died and Harry has managed to find the right path and is reunited with them all in heaven. Much like with what Jacob undergoes in his quest.

There are also several other instances where Silent Hill is influenced/a homage to Jacobs Ladder.

The nurses. In silent hill we see a bunch of nurses in the hospital who have strange lumps on their back. In Jacobs ladder, theres a scene in the real world hospital where Jacob panics as he sees a nurse with a similar injury dressed in the same attire.

The Blind enemy. In Silent Hill, in fact in the whole series... there is a continued design choice to make enemies appear blind, the nurses, the ghostly children in the school to name a few... could they be inspired from the blind nurse in Jacobs ladder?

007_Doctor_Jacobs_Ladder.jpg1524310-silent_hill_grey_children_enemy.jpg

The hospital. Oh boy, we're cooking with gas on this one... you must by now know what the dark world in silent Hill looks like right? Well... if it's not inspired by this...

Meh nope... not gonna link it as... well... it's kinda gross. But if you wanna see it, just search 'Jacobs Ladder hospital scene' and you'll find it on youtube very quickly.

Actually one could say Konami pretty much used that scene for Silent Hill homecoming too.

Theres so much in Jacobs Ladder which found it's way into silent hill, usually if you watch the movie then play the game/vice versa, you'll spot things, such as the demon in the mirror who shakes his head and some of the imagery in Silent Hill.

Definately seek out this movie if you've played Silent Hill.

Here's an interesting tidbit!

PkmnProfWantsToFight.png

In the Generation I games there is unused Trainer data for Prof. Oak. This implies that Oak was originally going to be able to be battled. In the data, Oak has Level 66 Tauros, Level 67 Exeggutor, Level 68 Arcanine, Level 70 Gyarados and whichever Kanto starter not chosen by you or your rival at Level 69. This places his strength on-par with the player's rival and the Pokémon League champion. As well, four of his Pokémon are identical to the ones used by the champion, only higher level, so originally Oak may have been intended to be in the game as the champion, or at least another high-ranking Trainer. This is supported by an email on the PC in Oak's lab, from the Pokémon League issuing a challenge to all Trainers, then specifically requesting Oak to come visit them. The only known ways to battle Oak are by performing the Ditto glitch with a Special stat of 226 or by performing the old man glitch with MN as the character in the 3rd, 5th or 7th slot of the player's name. These teams cannot be battled via using the old man glitch, and can only be battled via the Ditto glitch if the wild Ditto's Attack is lowered by 4, 5, or 6 stages (each will yield a different one of the three teams).

.....or the Silent Hill was really Kindergarten Cop 2

Come on Hogfather step it up tongue.png

Well if you want to get really technical.

Silent Hill 1 could be argued to be a love letter to various horror movies of the 80's and 90's. Whilst the main story is very similar to that of Jacobs Ladder. There are references and visuals which seem to come right out classic horror movies.

I can't remember the names of them, but when you walk into the school for the first time theres a register on the table, it contains a list of 'teachers.' all the surnames are those of iconic horror movie film directors. Theres other imagery from other movies and novels too such as Rosmary's Baby, The Regulators, Phantoms and Something Wicked this way comes.

Going back to what I said about the bad ending. It's quite clear that the developers wanted this to stand out as being important. Not only does it show Harry dying/dead in his car. But during the credits there are no 'bloopers' unlike every other ending in the game the bad ending stands alone. Harry died at the start of Silent Hill, much like Jacob at the start of the movie.

Silent Hill is Harry's soul trapped between dimensions trying to escape.

....

.....

.....

Or he's actually an undercover cop... and theres just begging for a SFX hack in which he says "It's not a tumor!" When he first encounters that Twinfeeler boss in the mall.

Kinda wish that was still in the final release to be honest. Red/Blue/Yellow really could have used a tough post-game fight so there'd be something to do besides catching Mewtwo/all 151 .

Pretty much what the others have said. Maybe fight him again, go back to catching them all, I dunno. I was just lamenting that outside of catching goals/grinding the Elite Four, that's kind of where it ends, as opposed to later games where there can usually be at least one more goal outside of Pokedex completion. I know the game has to end sometime, but. :P

Everything about Silent Hill 2 implies Sex or some form of intercourse since that was the central theme surrounding one of the characters for being raped.

The Pyramid head creature has always interested me.

See, an interesting point about Silent Hill is that the town and monsters are a manifestation of the characters' repressed emotions: fear, lust, guilt, hate... the whole setting IS character development.

So in Silent Hill 2,

James, Eddie and Angela experience their personal hells in different ways, though players almost exclusively experience James' (as the playable character), his guilt and lust manifested in Pyramid Head. There's hints in conversations as to what the rest of the cast sees.

Special mentions for Maria, who is a projection of Mary linked to James so she can "share" his demons and Laura, an innocent child with no negative burden to carry, who gets no monsters or twisted realities.

When it all dawns onto you and everything falls into place it's amazing but I wouldn't call it a secret. The game's just FULL of subtly implied pieces of data for its cast.

Harry died at the start of Silent Hill, much like Jacob at the start of the movie.

Silent Hill is Harry's soul trapped between dimensions trying to escape

Silent Hill 3 is canon and contradicts that, so we'll have to go with the undercover cop theory!
