But what of our collector/special editions!? And pre-order DLC!?

Other stores will pick them up, just wait and see, Tescos are already stocking prototype 2's special edition

Capcom confirms that Indi retailers will recieve pre-order bonus DLC for the first time in years, starting with Resident Evil Raccoon City.

And so... the new dawn begins... THE TIBERIUM SUN HAS RISEN! Errr I mean... the indi's are finally getting what GAME has kept from them for years.

Its Tiberian Sun, not Tiberium Sun! tongue.png

Slavik would shoot you for that misquotation! wink.png

I'd be more angry about them misspelling "temporary".

Seriously though, I wish a sign would stop the idiotic masses. I doubt it will though.

Remaining GameStation Stores Could Be Rebranded - Report

http://www.nowgamer....ded_report.html

Basically, instead of the high street being.

GAME----Gamestation---GAME

It's going to be GAME---GAME---GAME.... they really are idiots... the people in charge of Game group plc... aren't they? Isn't one of the reasons they're in this mess is that the GAME stores are bland and suck which is why Gamestation tends to be more popular with customers as it actually has a store identity?

But let's remember GAME is more popular than Gamestation, and GAME is named after their trading group.

It still fascinates me how grocery stores sell video games in England. Though, to be fair, I guess Wal-Mart does sell food and video games. I just find it kind of funny.

Because they're not grocery stores (a term you almost never hear over here) and are instead Super/Hypermarkets. They try to sell anything that's possible to get complete dominance of almost any market.

Supermarkets sell plenty of stuff. They have their own food lines, some have pharmacies, most have their own clothes line, there's a whole electronics and entertainment department, it really varies.

GAME to exit administration as RBS consortium wins race

http://www.mcvuk.com...ins-race/093563

Really? I didn't expect anything like this to crop up at all. Unless GAME actually becomes a decent store that to pays attention to competition and changes it's intrusive, rude policies that try to ring-out customers of all their cash for something they don't want, then honestly I'd much rather see the firm collapse or sold off to various buyers. I'd rather not see anyone lose their jobs, but fuck. If GAME is going to exist, it had better bloody-well change.

UPDATED: GAME customers gift card uncertainty

by Ben Parfitt

Law firm Thrings LLP has warned GAME customers that they may never be able to redeem any outstanding gift cards they have from the retailer.

This is despite the reinstatement of both the GAME Reward Card and Gamestation Elite Card yesterday.

"In essence, the administrator cannot honour a liability on a voucher or prepayment to full value when other unsecured creditors may get paid p/£," Things' restructure and insolvency boss Mark Cullingford told CVG.

"The loyalty card issue is a little different because he is selling goods at a discount - when he may be selling at a discount anyway. He is simply agreeing to sell goods that he may not otherwise sell at that price on a fixed discount basis and if these are redeemable on pre-owned games only, these games are probably likely to suffer more in a 'fire sale' and therefore he will want to enhance his sale price on what would otherwise be goods that drop in real value quicker.

"A buyer might be willing to offer transferability of loyalty as an incentive for sales and retain customers and the reopening of loyalty may be part of that process - but they are not likely to honour gift vouchers unless they have calculated that to do so is part of the price for the goodwill they are buying.

"And in doing so they will then seek to deduct that cost from the price they pay to the administrator for goodwill - but it is all part of a commercial assessment on the sale by the administrator and purchase by the purchaser."

UPDATE: A source close to the GAME situation has told MCV that customers MAY be able to begin using gift cards, possibly as early as next week. So don't throw them away!

GAME still needs a serious shakeup to genuinely contribute to the industry and I fear that an opportunity is being lost here. I'm hoping someone with some balls and actual industry knowledge takes over as CEO or this might just repeat itself all over again down the line.

Oh wow, I've totally been in that store before it closed! Wish I'd be in town when they were filming that performance, would've been epic to have seen it live.

His words are true though. A very awesome song.

GAME saved from administration by investment firm OpCapita?

http://www.digitalsp...ampaign=twitter

If that turns out to be true then that is great news. There is a Eurogamer articale which states (at least) 211 stores remain open - and their locations:

I will visit the sole remaining branch of GAME in Bluewater tomorrow.

Former GAME workers furious at late wage admission

http://www.mcvuk.com...dmission/093715

That sucks for those who have lost their jobs. Their last day of employment was yesterday and they've only been told today that they won't get payment for their notice periods or redundancy? >_<
