So I Starred in a Sonic Video for IGN...
It's not really much of a secret that, outside of my very Sonical hobby (which is this website right here), my real life job happens to be at video gaming supersite IGN (no, before you ask, I don't do any editorial or write any stuff for the site, so don't bother me about that - my role is more of a behind-the-scenes, publisher-level kind of deal). At least, I don't really make it much of a secret - but nor do I make a big deal out of it either.
Anyway! After working there for nearly ten years, I had been wondering when the inevitable day would come that my workplace would tap me to help with some Sonic-related content... and sure enough, today is that day. Below, you'll find a video of me being goofy on camera in the name of Sonic Superstars. Watch it! IF YOU LIKE!
So, some context about this. Sometimes IGN (like any other YouTuber or media outlet these days) works with commercial partners to develop specialised content about their game/product/whatever. IGN is exceptionally good at making these kinds of sponsored contents that never crosses the line into an editorial voice - it's all just weird and fun concepts that are only made possible because some client is paying for it. And this time, SEGA bought into a fun idea of having someone recite as many facts about Sonic Superstars as possible in just 60 seconds.
Apparently, I was the best person to not only talk about Sonic, but talk about him on camera at speed in one single take. You might know that I'm quite comfortable goofing off in front of a camera or on a stage, but this sort of thing (having to recite stuff in one go without a script) was kind of new to me so I was a little apprehensive at first!
Luckily, the shoot for this all went extremely well, and I felt quite good about filming the whole thing and how it came out in the end. Had lots of fun - definitely a nice departure from my day job!
I'm obviously expecting a mass influx of social media followers, fame and Old Spice sponsorship offers any time soon now.
Let me know if you think I'm crap, like.
