Sonic the Hedgehog 30th Anniversary Symphony was a special live music event that featured orchestral and rock performances of select music tracks from the Sonic the Hedgehog game series. It was an online-exclusive event that was livestreamed on the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitch and YouTube channels on 23 June 2021 to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.

The event ran for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes and was segmented into two distinct performances. The first of these was an orchestral rendition of instrumental Sonic the Hedgehog music by the FILMharmonic Orchestra in Prague. Following this, a number of rock bands (Tomoya Ohtani Band, Crush 40 and Sonic Adventure Music Experience) performed a series of tracks from the 'modern' era of Sonic games, from 1999 to present day.

Following the end of the livestream, SEGA uploaded the full event recording on the official Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel. As of May 2023, the VOD has attracted over 5.3 million views. You can watch the event by clicking here.

In June 2022, SEGA announced through a Sonic Central livestream event that the Sonic the Hedgehog 30th Anniversary Symphony would be getting an "Official Live Concert Tour" [Link], with one international date confirmed - the Brazil Game Show in Sao Paulo. This took place in October 2022, and featured new medleys to promote the release of Sonic Frontiers.

This was followed by an announcement in May 2023 that the 'Sonic Symphony World Tour' would "debut" in September with performances in two locations: London, UK and Los Angeles, USA. The would be the first events to use the new 'Sonic Symphony World Tour' branding and promotional artwork.
