Remember when Yuji Naka said he was "working really hard" to convince SEGA top brass to make a new home console? Well, SEGA has responded to the story by saying that this comment was all down to "translation issues".
The website that originally posted the Naka interview, Kikizo, published an update that clarified the situation and passed on the message from SEGA in full. "Sega has clarified that the comments were inaccurately translated, and categorically stated there is no such hardware in development," Kikizo said.
Bummer. We were all excited for a moment, too.
"The story, which took extracts from the forthcoming interview, featured Naka-san's words as spoken through his Japanese interpreter," Kikizo continues. "While there's no denying the arousing nature of the comments on the surface, Sega have contacted us to clarify that these were purely inaccurate in translation. Sega states that Naka was clearly speaking hypothetically about "working hard to realise" new Sega hardware. "
