SEGA has just announced that it is killing online support on the Dreamcast for all but two games. This means that, besides Phantasy Star Online and Phantasy Star Online ver. 2, you will no longer be able to play any Dreamcast game online.
"As we continue to focus on the future, it is time for us to disconnect our online Dreamcast game servers. Effective June 2003, the only Dreamcast titles that Sega will continue to support online are Phantasy Star Online and Phantasy Star Online ver. 2," reads the news on SEGA's US website. "No other Dreamcast titles will be playable online after this time."
"We hope you enjoyed our online gaming services that were extended six months beyond the original shutdown date. Thank you for supporting Dreamcast online gaming!"
We're not sure if the shutdown has happened already, or if it will happen at some point later in June - the message from SEGA isn't clear. So you might want to try getting online with your favourite game now to see if it still works for a little while longer, just in case.
