  • Netflix Shares the First Sonic Prime Season 2 Episode Early on YouTube

    The space between spaces.

Netflix is once again giving fans an early taste of Sonic Prime, as their Netflix After School YouTube channel has posted the first full episode of Season 2. Picking up directly after the end of Season 1, the episode sheds light on the mysterious echoes of Shadow Sonic encountered.

The full Season 2 premieres in little over a week, July 13, promising Shadow to take a more pronounced role and Shatterverse bleed over, though a third season is expected to fulfill the previously announced series length of 24 episodes.

This episode was mint. I've missed this sort of Sonic cartoon, reminds me of the X days where I actually enjoyed the franchise, loving the 2020s Sonic so far.

Also we need this Shadow for the games thanks 👍

I really enjoyed the episode and thought it had some pretty nice action between Sonic and Shadow, and thought it was neat how they got rid of the Chaos Emerald ASAP to force and showcase Shadow's skills without it.

My only real issue is it more or less confirms the fear I had from Part 1 - every dimension is tied directly to a prism piece it seems, and if that's the case, it feels like they've blown through it all on Part 1, and for what is ultimately not particularly interesting variants.

I'm sure budget probably played a part, but it's a little lame to me that with a show that's about dimensional shifting and different worlds, we only have Eggman ruled city as the one that really 'hinges' on a character dynamic shift, rather than "what if sonic but jungle" or "what if sonic but pirates". Doesn't help that it's commonly agreed that the jungle world was more or less a filler universe to waste out two episodes.

Even one of the prisms being used to house a ghost variant of the regular reality is ultimately a waste. Unless I'm mistaken, there's only one prism piece unaccounted for, which means one more universe to see, unless they reveal the dark void is a another alternative universe.

It's been pretty rare that I actually agree with you these days, but I do on this. I'd like a little more Eggman too. Not the council because as a collective, they're rather bland. I mean, Baby and Old Man seem more like devices for jokes than anything else. I mean, what a missed opportunity to have an evil Tails and a nice Eggman. Like, swap the roles since they're both on equal footing, a nice Eggman is practically a comic trope and I thought it's be funny too.

Speaking of that ghost world. I was thinking of this:

I’m.. content with how things are in terms of the worlds. I do think, since some seem to be “what if” and the focal characters seem to have certain attributes focused on in some (treasure Hunter knuckles, warrior knuckles, Miles that didn’t have a friend like Sonic, Amy with her care for nature), a world where they pulled similar to the comics and we got a Mr. Tinker like Version off Eggmam would be cool.

I was pretty happy with Shadow. Yeah, he was pretty aggressive with Sonic, but I could understand why he was and why he felt like he needed to be the one to fix it after Sonic broke it. They fight Sequence was awesome, as well as a lot of their fight quips and conversations.

Episode was great. It suited being released early, now we can get straight into the worlds again on Thursday.

I’m fairly sure they said way back in the promo stuff that there were 5 original worlds. We’ve got New Yoke, The Jungle, No Place, The Grim, and Green Hill/Ghost Green Hill. I think that’s all the boxes ticked that they promised. Still apear to be missing one shard though, which…

    Spoiler

…is a popular belief that the final shard was actually absorbed by Sonic in the initial impact and that’s why he’s ‘got the same energy as the crystal [shard] that powers New Yoke.’

Also I would not write off Evil Tails yet. This first episode of ‘S2’ went overboard - in my opinion - on Sonic defending Nine’s trustworthyness. Felt like heavy foreshadowing to me. There is still a ‘Season 3’ to come at a later stage to bring the series to the original 24 episodes originally stated.

Taking bets on who’s gonna end up ‘sacrificing’ themselves in the void’s black hole later on.

Wait, I read the 5 worlds thing in an old interview, but the Grim or the Void are really just a background to be honest, I don't think that's it, I think there is some kind of final world but I'm not sure. I don't think they confirmed 5 shards though, I think it was just 4...

I’m unsure, The Grim has a portal to enter it just like all the other worlds do, so I think it is one of the worlds even though we haven’t (yet) seen a shard there. It looks to me like there are 5 shards - there seems to be a seperate purple one between the red and blue shards before it was fractured. I remember also seeing that the shapes of the world portals matches the shape of the shard in that world so I think the show still has some cards up its sleeve. I’m not sure if any of those cards are additional worlds. I personally would love to see endless worlds with even more variants but I’m not holding out for more.
