Sonic Superstars news just dropped at Gamecom, and we got some really juicy reveals. In addition to a release date and our first look at battle mode and customization, we also got our first look at Sonic Superstars’ Digital Deluxe edition, and it’s got some pretty cool stuff!
First and foremost: Sonic’s old rabbit prototype design, which some fans have nicknamed “Feels the Rabbit,” will be available in the game as a skin. This rabbit was one of several designs artists at SEGA proposed during Sonic’s development, and was the first character put into the game that would eventually become Sonic 1. They were also one of the character prototypes designed by Naoto Ohshima.
In addition to the rabbit, Mecha Sonic’s parts will be made available in Battle Mode, allowing Sonic fans to play the robot Sonic cyclops for the first time ever! The LEGO Fun Pack will include additional LEGO skins for Tails, Knuckles, and Amy, as well as LEGO levels for battle mode. A digital artbook and OST, and bonus menu wallpapers will all also be available.
This does all come at a price, however: the Digital Deluxe edition will be priced at $69.99, $10 more than the base game. International pricing should be similar.
For anyone who isn’t buying the digital deluxe edition: DDE content has always been sold separately, so if you bought a physical copy you should be able to get this separately as standalone DLC.
