  • Shadow is Coming To Sonic Superstars...As A Costume

    Sonic X Shadow Generations was announed earlier today. However, that's not the only announcement SEGA had to share. For those who purchased Sonic Superstars, SEGA is celebrating the announcement of the Sonic Generatiosn remaster with a new Shadow costume that is coming to the game on February 15th!

    Now, it is worth noting that SEGA hasn't actually provided a look at the costume. We have absolutely no idea what it looks like. In fact, all that we know about the costume comes from a press release SEGA published shortly after the reveal of Sonic X Shadow Generations. So, if you're expecting any screenshots, sadly, we don't have any to share with you for now.

    So, what does SEGA say about the matter in the press release? Well, they say that "in support of today’s reveal of Sonic X Shadow Generations, on February 15, SEGA will release the Shadow Costume for Sonic in Sonic Superstars™ across all supported platforms. The costume will be free for all Sonic Superstars players and can be equipped when playing in Story Mode".

    It's very likely that we won't be hearing much more about this, for obvious reasons, with one exception. SEGA will probably release an image showing how the costume will look once its release is somewhat closer, though it probably won't have much fanfare. That all said, the press release did confirm that this costume is free, so you won't have to pay anything for it.

    OMG!!! A Shadow costume in "Sonic Superstars" in February 15? OK. I better download the costume on that day.

    Happy (day after) Valentine's Days everybody. 

    I wonder if it'll just be the stock generic Modern Shadow model or if they rigged a whole new classic-esque version. Hoping for the latter.

    Testing the waters for public interest in playable Shadow in a future 2D game?  Or just opportunistic cross-promotion?  Realistically, it's probably a bit of both.

    Best case scenario: Sonic in a Shadow Costume.

    Likely and annoying but acceptable outcome: actual Shadow.

    Worst case scenario: Classic Shadow. (which even if non canon will open the door)

    Like I get that Shadow is popular but they really should've stuck to what they originally said. Besides we have several characters currently stuck in the past I much rather see that far better fits the timeline. Mighty for instance basically was a Sonic skin in Knuckles Chaotix.

    I'm sure it's just cosmetics that won't effect the canon, but if it IS a Classic Shadow, I'm all for it. Well, let's just see what happens; not like we have a trailer of the skin or whatever lol

    For me, Classic Sonic "dressed" as Shadow and "Classic Shadow" are one in the same.

    It sucks because i remember originally Shadow was going to be a one-time thing in SA2, once that game's story ends, so is Shadow. But the fans 
    ruined it by wanting him back
