New 'Sonic N' Screenshots Emerge via N-Gage Website

Sonic's world is now very tall.

Nokia's website has been updated with brand new screenshots of 'Sonic N', the port of Sonic Advance that is currently in development for the N-Gage gaming cell phone.

As you can see from the images, it looks pretty faithful to the Game Boy Advance original, the only major difference being the screen format. Instead of a horizontal view, the N-Gage's dimensions means the play area is a lot more vertical in shape. Hopefully the game is tweaked so it factors this change in, so you don't go stumbling into enemies more easily!

Now, where have I seen those screens before... oh yeah... the Game Boy Advance! It's Sonic Advance ONE = Sonic Advance N! And if the recent rumours are anything to go by, this Sonic N should run at least 1/4 as fast as the GBA!

I'm betting a few mobile owners' hopes are dashed now... :bigsmile_2003:

I know what ya mean, Nokia's strategy is to make a more grown-up cool looking handheld that adults won't be embarrassed to be seen with on the street. They made fun of the Game Boy Advance as well, but yet their Sonic game is Sonic Advance from the GBA and won't run as fast, and won't look as sharp. Who are they kidding?

Wow. Now I know just what's going on. The N-Gage is worthless if you already have Sonic Advance for the GBA. I think Nokia is making a serious mistake by making this N-gage thingy.

Now I won't feel like I'd have to buy this N-Hoozit just for this Sonic game! I don't feel like I'm missing anything!

Wait, I wasn't gonna buy it anyways! :suspicious_2003:

I wouldn't even bank on it being a complete port, if it's a downloadable game from some advanced WAP facility on the N-Gage or something. Unless Nokia/Sega can find a way to lessen the time to download, so that £10 worth of credit doesn't go down the drain just to wait for the download.

Bear in mind people still haven't got a GBA because they're not into gaming at all - but they are into mobile phones. Hopefully the speed will be up to scratch - although Sonic Advance was proper slow anyway. :rolleyes_2003:

Ok now why would you make a Sonic game for a handheld that has a vertical screen? That's just stupid. I know I'll stick with the GBA. :cool_2003:

It's not that I enjoy booing Nokia's latest creation - well, I do :bigsmile_2003: - but I've read in GM (GamesMaster) that the N-Gage will only operate for up to SIX HOURS. :weird_2003:

And that's not going to help them against the GBA SP, especially not with a GBA port (hack, more like) and a backlit, biggest-selling console (over 110 million units of Game Boy sold) for a rival.

Now, who'd win that fight? Hmm... :rolleyes_2003:
