  • Knuckles Series Content Is Coming To Sonic Speed Simulator This Weekend

    Escape from the city with this mighty Echidna Warrior!

    Paramount, SEGA and Roblox are teaming up to promote the upcoming Knuckles show by bringing the movie Sonic characters out of the silver screen and onto home consoles and PC via Sonic Speed Simulator!

    In the game's Green Hill Zone lobby, players are noticing a large standee advertising not only the Knuckles show, but the impending arrival of a brand new world to explore: City Escape! The portal to enter isn't ready yet, but the content is set to reveal itself this Saturday at 12pm EST, like all weekly Speed Simulator updates.

    Or if you're impatient, this Friday night on the test servers.

    I managed to waltz in myself to take a look. And yup, things are falling into place for this weekend.

    What SHOULD we expect though? While no official statement is given, considering it is a new world, the likely outcome is an event made to encourage you to explore this City Escape. Destroy Badniks, collect rings, Chaos Orbs, etc. to complete objectives. With it, you usually earn trails, Chao, maybe an exclusive Extreme Gear, and then by the end of it all? A new character to play as!

    Naturally, one would assume the new character will be Movie Knuckles. While that's very much still in the cards, dataminers managed to uncover one character we know for sure is coming! Spotted by Twitter user WowItsRG, Movie Sonic is making his debut!

    With it, Sonic Speed Simulator is becoming quite the crossover. Now you can play as over 100 characters from across Sonic's history. From modern, classic, Prime and now the movies, all we really need now is Boom and we're golden.

    Sonic Speed Simulator is playable through Roblox on PlayStation, Xbox, PC and mobile.

    Knuckles streams on Paramount+ worldwide on April 26th.

    I am... quite frankly I have all of the feelings at once.

    Why these guys? Why these guys specifically? I mean, don't get me wrong, they're absolutely adorable, but... who decided that these were the one thing from Archie that they were allowed to use? Not that I'm complaining, because Archie representation is Archie representation, but...

    I guess adorable little hedgehog-bots were the one thing they figured it was safe to bootleg without fear of legal repercussion because hedgehog-bots have been a staple of the series since the early days and there's no reason to stop now.

    Pretty much, and even then, they needed this redesign to not be TOO reminiscent of Archie. But hey, guess we gotta take what we can get.

    What intrigues me about Speed Simulator is how it references Sonic X. We have Amy in her X swimsuit, Stealth Sonic has the scouter, and an unreleased Rouge skin has her in her masked getup. Summer Sonic even has the shell bracelet Amy gives her.

    Sneaky, sneaky...

    Actually, if you look hard enough, there is some (sort of) genuine Archie representation aside from these guys: a King Shadow skin! It was available for a limited time apparently (only just found out about it not too long ago):

    Good eye! I have that skin, I actually own every single one in the game. Should give that one a go more often. I mostly main Super Sonic these days for the flight and increased stamina.

    I may have heard about this one before, but I still find it beyond belief that they actually remembered and used this. While in hindsight I'm not really a fan of the character assassination Shadow went through in M25YL/30YL (which hadn't mattered to teenage me because I was still relatively new to the Sonic series and had never actually played a Sonic game with Shadow in it until Sonic Chronicles of all things), just having SOME clear Archie representation in this game at least tells me that Sega's listening, if even just a tiny bit.

    100+ characters and still no Infinite skin! For shame. Damn Sega and their "no dead characters" mandates.🙄

    Man... I've always told myself I should get into this but the thought of downloading Roblox just for it is a little painful
