  • Community Uncovers Chili Dog Easter Egg in Sonic Superstars

A two-frame snack for the road.

From the Wii onward, Sonic games embraced Sonic's long-time love of chili dogs (or at least his obsession with them in American cartoons and comics). He brought them to Camelot, had them for his birthday, and even shared his recipe in the recently released cookbook. However, we can add yet another game to list, as the community has discovered an easily-missed easter egg in Bridge Island Act 1.

By now, a number of videos show off the trick, but it was first brought to our attention via YouTuber SonicMasterxyz:

We confirmed the easter egg ourselves on the PC version of the game. The chili dog animation only appears for two frames, and works for both Sonic and LEGO Sonic (but did not seem to work for the rabbit skin).

To reproduce this easter egg yourself, jump into Bridge Island Act 1 as Sonic. Take the straight path forward until you get to the first loop. Instead of going all the way through the loop, use the yellow spring that will pop up behind you once you step on the loop. Using the speed boost from the spring, hold right and run through the loop. As long as you continue to run at full speed, Sonic will show the chili dog before you hit the tube. It's early in the stage, so if you need to restart, it shouldn't be too time consuming.

I think this game is filled with little fun stuff like this, and is overall an enjoyable game that is brought down by legit bad multiplayer modes and some long and hard bosses. It's already underrated to me. I really enjoyed the other easter eggs like the Rabbit skin, NiGHTS mech parts, Mecha Sonic parts, as well as the Golden Capital stage, the Fantasy Zone reference, but my favorite is probably the unique egg mobiles for each characters based on their debut game.

Nice...im sure there must be more hidden in the game somewhere!

Also, the trolling of players with "its another wacky workbench!" in Press Factory was genius!
