What stages do you want to see in Sonic Generations?

I'd be great to see some of the ARK levels, as has been mentioned quite a bit. Or maybe one single ARK level that has recognizable features from the other ones, like the grinding/platforming in Final Rush, gravity puzzle in Crazy Gadget, and just the spacy-technology feel of the place. And a chunk of the moon should be missing in the background. :)

^ Honestly, that's my thought. There's no need to have multiple stages... just have one stage (probably based on Shadow the Hedgehog as opposed to SA2) that also includes elements from other ARK-based stages. I would so love to see an ARK stage. ^^

My thoughts, though, were on Space Gadget, not Crazy Gadget, because Crazy Gadget requires you to actually stop and flip a switch. It can still have lots of platforming, though, but elements like coming to a complete stop to hit a switch (and missing it twenty times) are some things I'm sure people would NOT like.

That and I can't stand Crazy Gadget... :P I prefer Final Rush/Final Chase.

Another thing they can do, too, though, to limit the "bottomless pits," is to constantly have platforms lower down below that you are, say, "gravitically attracted to" in order to make for a less-tedious experience for those people that absolutely HATE bottomless pits. It'll still be tedious if you keep falling, but at least you aren't going to die so easily. ^^

On that note, I so want to see a remake of the Sonic vs. Shadow boss battle on the Ark, just as much as I'd love to see a remake of the Sonic vs. Metal Sonic fight at Stardust Speedway. :D

Assuming there is only one stage from each main game:

Green Hill

Chemical Plant

Stardust Speedway

Hydrocity

Flying Battery

Volcano Valley

Lost World

City Escape

Mystic Mansion

Digital Circuit (or Mad Matrix)

Kingdom Valley

Arid Sands

Sweet Mountain

Probably won't get that many stages, but those are IMO the coolest stages from all the respective games. Basically anything not GHZ is gonna be awesome though.

You know, I'd rather them not add Sandopolis Zone, and instead go with Sand Oasis from SatSR. Not because Sandopolis isn't memorable or anything, but because there are other levels that Sonic & Knuckles could represent with, and Modern Sonic needs a little more to draw from than Unleashed and Colors.

Besides, Sand Oasis was pretty cool.

Would much prefer Pyramid Cave over Sand Oasis, but of course there are better stages to represent SA2 anyways.

City Escape and Green Forest. ;)

I'll skip Green Hill since it's already in

S1: Starlight / Spring Yard

S2: Oil Ocean / Wing Fortress

SCD: Stardust Speedway

S3: Angel Island / Marble Garden / Carnival Night / Icecap / Launch Base

S&K: Flying Battery / Lava Reef / Sky Sanctuary / Death Egg

S3D: Panic Puppet

SA: Red Mountain / Sky Deck / Lost World

SA2: City Escape / Crazy Gadget

SH: Bingo Highway / Hang Castle

06: Crisis City *is shot with machine guns*

SU: Holoska / Chun-Nan / Eggmanland

SC: Planet Wisp / Starlight Carnival / Asteroid Coaster.

Well, I too copied Patticus' list, but I changed some levels with some of my preference. I don't expect all of them, but at least one will be nice

I for one would love to see some stages from the handheld titles, regardless of how unlikely that may be.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - Aqua Lake, Gimmick Mt., or Crystal Egg

Sonic & Tails - Mecha Green Hill

Sonic & Tails 2 - Sunset Park

Sonic Advance - Secret Base

Sonic Advance 2 - Techno Base or Music Plant

Sonic Advance 3 - Ocean Base, Toy Kingdom, or Chaos Angel

Sonic Rush - Water Palace

Sonic Rivals - Sky Park

Sonic Rush Adventure - FFFFF ALL OF THEM except for plant kingdom and blizzard peaks

Sonic Rivals 2 - Frontier Canyon

If not in the final game, perhaps as a DLC pack? Because that would be super awesome.

Underlined... Space Gadget isn't from SA2. Space Gadget is a stage in Shadow the Hedgehog. It has a similar name to Crazy Gadget from SA2 because it uses a similar "gravity-changing" feature. Cosmic Fall from Shadow the Hedgehog also has a similar name to Cosmic Wall, both of which are primarily outdoor Ark stages with light gravity.

Meh....

S1 - Starlight

S2 - Mystic Cave

SCD - Stardust Speedway

S3 - Marble Garden, Casino Night

S&K - Sky Sanctuary

S3D - Panic Puppet

SA - Lost World

SA2 - City Escape, White Jungle, Final Rush

SH - Bullet Station

ShTH - Prison Island, Death Ruins, Space Gadget

06 - Kingdom Valley, Radical Train

SU - Jungle Joyride

SC - Planet Wisp

Sonic Rush Adventure - FFFFF ALL OF THEM except for plant kingdom and blizzard peaks

 Its impossible to decide.

I do think it would be a blast to ride on some dolphins (they could let you ride a badnik instead - which would be even more epic barring an Ecco cameo).

Sonic 1

Green Hill Zone: This is confirmed so...

Starlight Zone: This zone is pretty much the last good zone in Sonic 1 and it has plenty of speed for M.Sonic and plenty of speedy-platforming for C.Sonic.

Sonic 2

Chemical Plant Zone: For me, this zone is like Starlight. Probably my 2nd favorite Sonic 2 zone and the Mega-Muck might be like the water from the other 3D games (aka insta-kill), at least for M.Sonic.

Casino Night Zone: This is pretty much a given. Best casino themed level in the series (besides Casino Street).

Sonic CD

Quartz Quadrant: Pretty much the most unique zone in this game and has a good mix of speed and platforming.

Stardust Speedway: Starlight on crack basically and I think it would work perfectly. Now, while I didn't really like the Metal Sonic racing boss, seeing it reimagined in 3D would be EPIC!

Sonic 3

Ice Cap Zone: Pretty much a given. Best Ice level in the series hands down.

Carnival Night Zone: Best level in Sonic 3 and hearing the remix to this great MJ theme would be win.

Sonic and Knuckles

Mushroom Hill Zone: Amazing level. Bouncing on mushrooms as M.Sonic would be cool and maybe Knuckles would make an appearance in this zone...

Lava Reef Zone(including Hidden Palace): My favorite zone in any Sonic game ever, it would be cool to see this reimagined in 3D.

Sonic Adventure

Emerald Coast: The GHZ of the 3D games and the poster level for SA.

Speed Highway: My favorite level from this game and fits M.Sonic perfectly.

Sonic Adventure 2

Note: I've never played this game so I'm going off of how fun the level looks.

City Escape: Pretty much a given. From the looks of this level it looks really fun. Would seem pretty cool if reimagined in 2D.

Metal Harbor: The other level that stood out to me as looking really fun.

Sonic Heroes

Hang Castle/Mystic Mansion: I love the theme for Mystic Mansion and I think it would fit M.Sonic and C.Sonic really well.

Sonic 06

Kingdom Valley: The best level (and least glitchy) in Sonic 06. Also, probably the only one that would make sense given Generations stroyline (since Generations doesn't include Solaris or Iblis although Mephiles is welcome!).

Sonic Unleashed

Rooftop Run: My favorite level in Unleashed and is probably the most reasonable for Generations (beside maybe Apotos).

Sonic Colors

Note: Same as SA2...

Starlight Carnival: Looks friggen' epic. The running on that neon roadway thing is pretty cool.

Trying to figure out how many levels they can fit into this game is kind of hard. For Sonic 2006 and Sonic Unleashed, we saw a grand total of 9 unique Zones apiece, which could probably be pushed as far as 12 Zones. If there's some sort of system for this, we'll probably get an equal representation of each era... with 12 as the optimistic number of Zones, here's what I think we'll get.

For the Genesis era, we'll likely see Sonic 1, 2, 3 and Knuckles be represented, and Sonic CD is likely as well.

Sonic 1:

because, well, yeah.

Sonic 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmdseeZBiz4, probably the most iconic trope next to GHZ itself, a fan favorite

Sonic 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7MFwW98nbk, another big fan favorite, there needs to be an ice level

Sonic & Knuckles: Difficult to decide, I'd place my bets on

to be the final level.

Sonic CD: Probably http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXP3uNwpXRo, but I personally would not mind seeing

For the Dreamcast Era, we're certainly going to see SA1 and SA2 make an appearance, Heroes is likely as well.

Sonic Adventure:

the most memorable, the token beach level, too. (Toss in some water here, too! We need some water sections)

Sonic Adventure 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCs42XSwI-c, same as above, only it's the token city level.

Sonic Heroes: Difficult to place, but I'd say

or
they're both popular levels and fill the air base trope.

Finally the Modern Era, where we'll assume the latest game, Colors, is the last one to be represented. Sonic 2006 is kind of weird, but it may be represented regardless, same with Unleashed. I would also toss in Sonic Rush.

Sonic 2006: Kingdom Valley, it was the first level we knew about, and of all the rest, this level seems to stand out the most. (not saying much, though)

Sonic Rush:

because there simply needs to be a water level, and this one in particular had some interesting gimmicks, and an appealing design.

Sonic Unleashed: This is a tough one. I'd like to see

as a sub-final level, it's one that didn't get a proper "all Sonic" treatment, as you were switching between Sonic and the Werehog. They could spice it up a bit and change level architecture to make it more unique from the original. Maybe add a quick Tornado flight section.

Sonic Colors: I'm torn between

and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjQPpWEXcOU. Planet Wisp would probably be best, since there's no proper forest level, and Starlight Carnival is a space level, technically, like Death Egg. And Planet Wisp has unique architecture that no other forest level has.

Again, this is an incredibly optimistic list. It'd be even better if we had 15 Zones!

Got the results of that one facebook poll off of Sonic retro:

-Green Hill Zone (had the most overall votes, and the most obvious choice)

-Starlight Zone (this one had the second most votes for Sonic 1 and quite a few)

-Chemical Plant Zone (had some of the most votes for Sonic 2)

-Casino Night Zone (had some of the most votes for Sonic 2)

-Hydrocity Zone (had some of the most votes for Sonic 3)

-Ice Cap Zone (had some of the most votes for Sonic 3)

-Flying Battery Zone (had some of the most votes for Sonic & Knuckles)

-Lava Reef Zone (had some of the most votes for Sonic & Knuckles)

-Doomsday Zone (also got a ton of votes)

-Stardust Speedway Zone (got a good size amount of votes and most from Sonic CD)

-Emerald Coast (had some of the most votes from Sonic Adventure)

-Speed Highway (had some of the most votes from Sonic Adventure)

-City Escape (by far had the most votes from Sonic Adventure 2)

Stages Not quite as high but still pretty up there: Emerald Hill Zone, Mystic Cave Zone, Metropolis Zone, Carnival Night Zone, Hidden Palace Zone, Sky Sanctuary Zone, Red Mountain, White Jungle, Pyramid Cave.

Ones not quite a lot but more than the rest: Labyrinth Zone, Aquatic Ruins Zone, Oil Ocean Zone, Angel Island Zone, Death Egg Zone, Lost World, Green Forest, Final Rush

So here's a good idea of our level selection! Should be interesting to see. C:

Replace Lava Reef Zone with Death Egg and that was basically the likely list I had in my head. Not a personal "wish" list, but that was what I assumed to be the favorites. Cool find!

I wonder how many of those will be used. It's just too bad handheld stages won't make an appearance; apparently Sonic Team wants to keep it to main console titles.

Also, they stopped at Sonic and the Black Knight. Does that mean no Colors or Unleashed? I don't think they'd ignore 'em, but we'll see! Also, Shadow the Hedgehog was not included.

Am I the only one that thinks it's kinda stupid to have such recent games (SU/SC) stages revisited already? They're going to look/feel almost exactly the same now as the games they came from. I'd much rather have a couple extra stages from the classics. Thinking that we might only get one zone from each classic game is a bummer. :/ Would I be crazy to hope for at least 2 from each?

Well, since the poll didn't include Colors/Unleashed, I imagine it'll stop at Black Knight... though Unleashed came out before that, didn't it? If that's the case, it'd include...

- Sonic 1

- Sonic 2

- Sonic 3

- [sonic 3D Blast? I don't know if it was listed]

- Sonic Adventure

- Sonic Adventure 2

- Sonic Heroes

- Sonic 06

- [sonic Unleashed?]

- Secret Rings

- Sonic and the Black Knight

And that's assuming we get -all- the modern games. I'm thinking we're getting a 60/40% ratio of classic to Adventure/modern, personally.

Keep in mind that this is Sonic Generations, not SEGA Generations. This is celebrating 20 years of Sonic, so I doubt they'll include other stuff.

Yes, i know, but in past games, sonic alway was related to most of the sonic games, plus he did a lot of cameos in a lot of games, so i think, most of the sega games are related to sonic history.

How about Techno Base (from Sonic Advance 2) or Cyber Track (from Sonic Advance 3)...I've never seen a technological stage in a Sonic game for home consoles (apart from Grand Metropolis...but...yeah)
