Some UK first week sales info.

Great! Maybe they'll save some budget to do real cutscenes next time.

I think the marketing lately really helped this game, between Overdrive shorts, that cool 90s style spot, the twitter takeover that got #1 trending Worldwide, and good reviews of course, it got a lot of attention.

Anyway, I'm having a real trouble with the Daredevil missions, there is one that is mandatory on Ice Mountain, and I can't get more than bronze, I need that star to continue the story, so… any tips?

Always go for the red side for the point multiplier. Also, the closer you are to the goal post when going through, the more points you get. Finally, if you drift even a tiny smidge while going through the goal posts, you get bonus points. Use all you can to your advantage.

The games buggy as hell. Resetting time traffic and some old time bots sit on the tracks unmoving so you can't plan it

Outside of the Boom games, the last spinoff to have full on cut-scenes was what.... Zero Gravity in 2008?

Yikes.

Sounds like a pipe dream to me. I'll take more characters and the transformation mechanic back and be a happy camper.

I wanna say that TSR being top spot is good news but it only doubling Transformed's opening sales makes me think it's not as good as it looks. Transformed apparently opened at 27th position in its first week. It was during the holidays but that's still a pretty low opening.

In any case the Zeti are sure to be appearing in more games in the future just as the Rogues.

The Babylon Rogues were mostly confided to the Riders games, though. It wasn't until Sonic and the Black Knight that they very loosely start to ebb outside of that.

...Which may say something about the Riders series, now that I think about.

This is the best way to go for the missions. Adding to this advice - only do a proper long drift if you're on a corner where there is multiple posts set up together on said corner. One of the other Ice maps uses a lot of these and they can be the major cause of failure in a Platinum run.

The best way to handle these is absolutely just driving normally. The reason for that is you will have far more control over your direction, and where you're driving. As Jova says - if you drift even a tiny smidge near it, if it's for literally a second, it will count as a drift into the ring. Using small drifts combined with normal driving will allow you to get closer to the centre of the pole, drift, and steer out again, giving you more control.

What's also important is you should be drifting even when you aren't coming to a pole. If you get a big gap with no pole, drift. The reason being is that you'll want to be getting as many boosts as you can to save time.

For a better example of what I mean, watch this - this is where I learned how to do these stages, and these tips are what allowed me to get platinum on all of them:

I'm close to finishing the game with nearly all events finished to the max save one ring challenge on the ice map for platinum.  But yet to use any mods or even buy any so far.

Careful now, the last Race against Eggman (in a Death Egg Robo Sentinel style vehicle), Zavok, Metal, and a whole mob of Egg Pawns is a tough one even on Normal difficulty.

Yeah, no kiddin.

Funny how Eggman railed on Zavok for bad driving when he was the one contenting for first throughout that map--and actually got it once, too!

Really? I kinda though that to be the easiest race out of all of them. Even the giant Death Egg Robot that was apparently meant to be a threat came in 12th place so I didn't really see the threat in it.

Oh no, it's actually kinda weighed down, but I don't think it got quite that low for me.

Thanks for those tips, I actually finished the story last night!

I really did not expect...

Spoiler

Dodon Pa to be a good guy.

Eggman was fun, and so were the other characters tbh, they were rather likeable, I like this kind of writing, even if the story isn't much.

Using mods I could see it being easier. I used none and metal and zack team blasted twice and were pros with missiles

I have to say I'm enjoying the in-race banter a lot more than I expected to. While I found myself skipping most of the story automatically, since it was honestly a pretty hard listen, the little moments where characters complain or gloat to each other are pretty fun.

Since Blaze is my go-to racer, I've really been loving her little complaints about the various environments. She doesn't like being airborne, cold, wet or sandy, which I find quite amusing, as we don't really know enough about her as a character outside of her status as princess. And speaking of which, the likes of Amy making jabs at said position is really fun too.

I also didn't expect to like Zavok's lines so much. Yes, I would have preferred other characters over him, but I can see why they went with such a vocal villain.

Blaze has a fear of heights mentioned in almost all of her appearances, as far back as her debut in Rush. It's a fun little character quirk.

And yes, I agree with you on Zavok too. His role and dialogue in the story is completely pointless, but hes actually rather enjoyable in-game. Kind of a weird juxtaposition you get with his personality and teamwork based kart racing. It's very enjoyable. It's a shame that Metal Sonic doesn't talk sometimes though. But having said that, I'm also especially glad that Orbot and Cubot aren't a party of the races.

So I'm probably going to do a follow up review/analysis of this game..

I still really like it, but it does have a lot of issues which do harm the game in the long run, most of the stuff are little things which just so happen to be very annoying, e.g. no music selection, whilst this isn't much of an issue in normal races... Dear lord it's horrible in time trial mode, or the side missions... the same song... over and over... and over.

Not to mention the multiplayer waiting... some of which wouldn't be too bad if there was more feedback to the end user.

I can't decide if this is poor design or a consequence of the lower budget that was offered for this title. There's a bunch of other issues as well, it doesn't harm the gameplay, but it impacts the overall experience.

Also tonight at around 7pm GMT( around 1 hour 30min from now).

I'm going to be streaming a bit of a masterclass to beat the side missions in this game. Noticed lots of people having problems but there's a few really good tricks you can do to almost guarantee beating them.

Going to show a bunch of tips and tricks for some of the stages that means you can pass them first try without any problems (no not just the eggpawn assault trick).

I'll be doing it via YouTube so if you think you might find some use from this, be sure to subscribe/bell and tune in. I'm also likely to mess it up a few times so yeah there is that as well.

In one of the stages for destruction there's an amazing exploit to beat that on the first try and I'll be showing some of the routes and tactics I use for the drifting challenges and ring capture challenges.

That sounds kinda bad outta context.

Oh yeah, there's some fun stuff in there.

Wow, she's really fussy.

Which I suppose shouldn't be a surprise.

Yeah, he's really ham in this, for some reason. Which was sort of there to begin with, but it was more of "boiling beneath the surface" type thing; otherwise, he's calm and focused.

Which is funny, considering she can hover.

Makes you wonder why they didn't hint at it more in the story.

I guess I'd forgotten all about it. It seemed odd to me since she flies a bit in one of the Generations missions (although that wasn't very high, I suppose).

I had the exact same experience here, kinda made me laugh when I saw the results.

@DabigRG Because Orbot and Cubot are really, really awful and unfunny characters in the story. From my point of view, they're just annoying. Take someone like Omochao though, and he was barely a character in previous games and was instead just annoying exposition. But in this game, he just meshes so well with the teamplay mechanic and tone. He's a pretty likeable and fun character. I'm much happier seeing him in play over Cream. Nothing against Cream personally... She's just dull. Kinda like all of Zavok's story appearances in every game he's been in.

I had a good chuckle when Tails blurted out that he was banned from one of the Casino stages for counting cards. Blaze too commented how she had to try really hard and focus to not get distracted by the pretty lights (total cat cliche lol). The character banter for the most part was extremely well done. I was sure I would be sprinting for the mute button after five mins of playtime, but it has remained charming and endearing to the environment.

I love hearing other characters scream at me while they are tailgating and attempting to pass. It adds a nice friendly sense of road rage that comes with the territory for these games.

When did Tails say that line about counting cards? I'm drawing a blank. If it was in a story cutscene I must have missed it. I caught the comment about Blaze being afraid of heights though.

My favorite conversation is still the one between Sonic and Silver right before the race starts where Sonic says he's gonna beat Silver and Silver's response is "Okay." because he's not all rival-ish like Shadow is. Then Sonic tells him what to actually say and Silver, with adorable conviction, says the exact line that Sonic literally had to feed to him, in the exact same way Sonic said it... and Sonic's reaction is just to sigh and be like, "The moment's passed."

I gotta say, the recent takes on Silver's character where they play up his socially inept, dorky side has endeared me wholeheartedly. It also helps that I love his new anime voice.
