UK General Election 2015 "p.g. 12 DOOM!"

Polls close in 5 min.

BBC just started their live coverage of the night...

Party thread time?

Holy crap.

BBC Exit poll...

Conservatives win, but not with a majority.

Labour are second largest, they have lost seats.

SNP have taken all but 2 seats in Scotland.

UKIP got 2.

Lib Dems have been decimated.

We have a hung parliament,

Full details.

Conservatives 316 seats
Labour 239
SNP  58
Lib Dem 10 (lost 47 seats!)
UKIP 2

Green 2 (+1 from last year.)

What does this mean?

If the exit poll is correct, Conservatives + Lib Dems can form a government despite the lib dem kicking.

Labour can only form a government if they combine forces with virtually every other MP in parliment.

Conclusion. Almost certainly going to be another Conservative government + a puppet party propping them up.

Great... another 4 years of conservatives...

The Lib Dems and SNP seats there aren't much of a surprise, if the actual result mirrors the Exit Poll.

Really hope that UKIP is as low as suggested.

I honestly wasn't sure how Labour and Conservatives would fare, though SNP's strong performance would always hurt Labour more.

Hmm.

(By the way, how are people watching the results? I'm on Channel 4, mainly for The Last Leg guys).

So... it might not be quite as it seems.

According to a yougov pol, Lib Dems are on 30+ seats...

Nichola Sturgeon has also said that she doesn't think she's won that many.

Though I suspect the BBC figure is correct.

Just realised on those figures, IF there was a Labour/SNP coalition*, it would still be less than the Tories.

Oh bloody hell, Gogglebox. Think I'll switch to BBC for a bit.

*let's be honest, if it was the only way for Ed to be Prime Minister, he would TOTALLY go for that, I don't care how much he's denied it

They can't do it.

It'll be conservatives + whoever.

To get a majority, The conservatives need the help of ANYONE, they can even cherry pick independents if they like.

Labour needs the following... Every single person who isn't in the conservative Party...

Labour ain't getting in, no chance.

Most likely scenario as far as I can see again is Conservatives + Lib Dems, Conservatives + DUP or Conservatives + 10 independents.

How...?

If that Pol is right, then Labour can get a government... it'll be one hell of a zombie government, but they can do it.

To compare...

BBC Poll numbers are on the left, YouGov on the right.

Con 316/284

Labour 239/263

SNP 58/48

Lib Dem 10/31

UKIP 2/2

Green 2/1

I hope it's the YouGov, I really do, because that gives us a lot more options.

But I think the BBC one is likely right, golly how wrong I hope I am.

Those two exit polls are pretty radically different, from which I hope we can draw the conclusion that even the exit polls can't properly capture this radical election.  I guess it's worth noting that, even under the BBC poll, Cameron's coalition's numbers wouldn't be that amazing with the Lib Dems so crumpled.

I'd rather sleep it off rather than watch the results trickle in.  See you all in the bright new dawn.

First constituency is in.

Sunderland South.

Labour: 21,218

UKIP: 8,280

CON: 7,105

Green: 1,095

Lib Dem: 791

This is a safe Labour seat so them winning isn't that surprising... but holy crap! Look at those numbers! UKIP are up 20% in that area, Lib dems have dropped by 12%!

Lib Dem result is so low they lose their deposit to stand in that area!

Wow, I'm certainly hoping the YouGov poll is right too. I mean, I doubt it, but I can hope.

Anyway I'll just go back to watching Channel 4's alternative election night.

It's scary to see UKIP doing well in Sunderland, it doesn't help that they are on a rise too. It's just one area I know, but still.

Rumours flying around that overall, UKIP might end up being third.

Also, another result just came in, Lib Dems lost another deposit.

Oh shit. UKIP got a lot of votes there...I know it's still too early to tell but I'm getting kinda worried.

Labour holds Sunderland West.

As someone watching from the outside, I really hope that BBC exit poll is wrong. I don't want to see David Cameron in again.

So someone just made a really interesting point.

Considering how close the Conservatives are to the winning post, they may choose to govern alone, yes they might lose some votes in the house, but they would be in absolute power.

Whilst they would be a minority government, to have their government challenge, it would require every single one of them to vote in favour of a vote of no confidence, which is extremely unlikely.

UKIP is getting around 7,000 - 8,000 votes average in the results. Which is really fucking scary.

A little sad Green isn't performing as well as I thought.
