Edit: Also from 5:29 - 5:32, the whole scene with the princesses and Twilight's cutie mark in the background. Is this foreshadowing or implying something? Will Twilight become an Alicorn/Pegacorn in the near future like in that one picture? I hoping not and that I'm looking too deep into it.

"There is no Nightmare Nights" edition

1 ) Title is because I haven't read anything NN themed so far

2 ) I'm well aware Reala was never supposed to say that, it just stuck in my head as a nice title.

The Mailmare:

The ridicule continues and the crazyness keeps escalating!

I can't believe Amber actually managed to write a minific inside of this one and pull it so well... The Muffin Man was awesome... And then hilarious when it turns out that's actually how Derpy believes Equestria was made (though TBH, that wasn't so far away from the truth, just add another tribe and replace some words here and there and you have an abridged version of the Hearts and Hooves Day's story).

The previous chapter was freaking amazing too, Trixie over inflating herself to the limit and beyond! Not to mention all the subculture references she uses turn Twilight into a... Quite colorful character... BTW I can sort of understand where was she going to with her story but what does any of that have to do with Twi? Yes, it's kind of hinted that the tourist was an... odd version of Twi, but it was never stated by Trixie, and since her name wasn't dropped the story doesn't really make any sense about why does she hate Sparkle at all...

Having said that, it could only be her... Interesting attempt at telling a fabricated story in order to break Derpy and make her collab with her (which she succeeds at)... Wait a minute. Wasn't the story original purpose to make Derpy feel confident enough to tell Trixie what's her relationship with Sparkle? What the-

I really love this story!

ps: For some odd reason I thought Derpy was going to break into a rap song when telling the Muffin Man story.

ps2: it took me 8 chapters to realize the bottle of syrup, wasn't filled with syrup at all. (even after being pointed that the content of the bottle was alcoholic)

Of Steam Gears and Wings: (Episode 1 (?) Completed)

Calling this first part episode just so I can keep comparing it to Star Wars.

Because that's what we could say this first part was, an odd cross of Star Wars + Ponies + Steampunk. Of course, that alone should be enough reason for you guys to give it a read, but just felt like pointing that out.

The content is there, the world is quite interesting and the battles are well written IMO, but it's really lacking in some aspects, and I'm mostly talking about the antagonists.

in one side, we have Douche, who was nothing but an idiotic tool during his whole life as an emperor... Because at the minimum provocation he went ahead and decided to screw half of Equestria and do a highly questionable civil war just because it annoyed him, and because it was pretty blatant that he was supposed to loose that war and die in that place... I never liked how little doubt there was that this was going to be the outcome.

The other antagonist is Bunnyhelm, who does an unnecessarily complicated scheme to loose the war on purpose so he can somehow become emperor himself... And we don't really know what goes beyond that (not because of Raven's fault, that's something he probably is going to show us in the next episodes), what I don't like is that, once again, it was pretty blatant that he was going to back stab Douche for his own gaining and doesn't seem to make much effort to hide it (there are already some characters in the NLR who can see he had a plan going on).

These and other things (like the way AB reacts to Pip's confession and Kami's death) that makes this one so... Obvious (I'd go as far as using words as boring or disappointing)... To the point that the only way I think you could enjoy in this story is if you just came here for the battleships and the "dog fights".

Which after a point I just did.

It's a... Nice tale to read, but don't expect to have your mind blown at any minute.

The Late Twilight Sparkle: (One shot)

I will regret trying this...

You will read this story as Fluttershy, who is having problems with something that happened to Twilight. You will find yourself noticing a strange pattern in the narration, and see the whole thing is written in future tense. You will keep reading and see some characters appear and they will discuss how they took the fact that Twi has moved on. You will see a nice twist near the end, where Twilight appears and talks to you, and you will realize what the story is all about.

Unless you are like me, then you will not see the twist and be confused until it's pointed out in the comments. >_<

Keeping that line of thought, you will also wonder why is Applejack wearing black, and then you will ask yourself if the description of some events intertwin between the story's timeline and a far future where Twilight dies. You will ask yourself if there is some symbolism that went over your head, especially about the cold tea.

Following that trend, you will conclude that this story was worth a read, and a little thought provoking (but you will not know if the author ever had that in mind while writing this).

Also, back in control of your own body, you will facepalm about this and how many grammar rules I broke.

The rating will be 3 Stars.

Treasure in the West: (Sequel!)

I can't remember if I commented before about how this sequel... well... exists...

Anyway! If you bothered to read what I said about the original, other than some questions left unanswered I quite enjoyed this one. So, how is the sequel doing for me?

Very... Mysterious.

This one seems like it's going to be more in Daring's territory (with cowboys thrown at it, interesting mix to say the least). Ahuizotl (whose name I will never be able to spell without the internet) is going to appear in this one (in a most likely darker tone to what we've seen in the show) and there is a whole band of bandits who might or not be working for him.

Also, Braeburn is depressed and Daring has some heavy issues about that monster with a hand on it's tail. (it's not as bad as I'm making it sound like)

Nothing much to talk about right now.

Mission Implausible: (Sequel!)

Hey! I get to talk about this one!

Basically, Vinyl and Tavi are spies in the night... In the day too... But anyway, expect lots of action, stuff blowing up and some comedy in the middle (not to mention some of the best uses I've seen to certain characters as far as fanfics are concerned). Gave me a pretty similar feeling to Harpflank and Sweets, except that this one has more martial arts and less giant mechas (also, features what I guess it's the second fanon's OTP instead of the first one)

Entertaining to say the least...

The sequel seems to go in the same direction, the same villain of the first one makes a return but this time he has an army of changelings at his side (for no other reason than revenge it seems), so with an army of transforming fairies opposing them our heroines will have to keep their eyes open for any possible oddity that might occur in the agency.

Also, Vinyl got s bit fat for leaving the agency. :V

The Longest Night: (One shot)

There isn't a lot to talk about this one, it's a kind of cute story about Celly and Luna and a "certain lullaby" (I don't really think there was much to this story other than trying to make that song a bit more moving... It's arguable if the author succeeded or not).

BTW, in this one Twi is an alicorn... For no real reason... Except that this one seems to be a little side fic (call it a tease, or a free sample) of a bigger story Tundara is planning to post at some point.

No, that hasn't particularly peaked my interest (there are stories out there dealing with the same topic and this one doesn't feel unique enough for me to pay it so much attention), but I just felt you might want to know that.

Oh well, at least we get to see the pony version of this:

Archer and Smith: (One shot?)

What we have here is a very nice example of world building, and what I hope it's the beginning of a bigger story.

This is a story about a blacksmith that is famous around the (nowadays fallen) country of Equestria for her craft, said to be the best of the best, she lives on her own until a Unicorn named Lyra makes her a pretty unique commission... This particular encounter unleashes the events we see in this fic, and hopefully something else.

This one really feels like a pilot episode, we get a tease of the world these characters live in, we get a basic introduction to the protagonists, their abilities, quirks and what motivates them to keep going their ways (without spelling much or any backstory about them). As a story of it's own I don't think it has much value (the very basic introduction we have about the characters plays against it on this one, since we hardly have enough to care about them) but I really hope the author has more to offer us from these 2 ponies and the world they live in...

So I'll leave this one unrated for now.

Telling Tales: (Completed!)

Apparently this one is pretty much a bunch of old tales from many lands ponyfied... Sadly, I don't remember hearing any of those so I can't say I enjoyed this one in the same level other people could.

It's the story about a professional storyteller and how a little visit to Ponyville ends up in a... most peculiar experience (mostly thanks to a quite energetic pink pony).

Some stories are good, some made me cringe, some made me wonder what the hell was I reading. but all in all a very enjoyable fic, more than anything because of what the ponies were doing outside of the story telling, like the constant issues Twilight had about some of the tales or that kind of heartwarming moments the fic had from time to time (the ending comes to mind).

So yeah, if you have time read this one, and hopefully you will be able to recognize some of the stories that were told here, hope you guys have fun with that.

I know Forbidden Planet and Page 45 have got the first three issues to order(P45 have the complete box set for issue one instead of that issue on it's own). Buuut... That's it... Episode 3: Soon

Soon... It's a weird title, it could mean how close we are to season 3, it could mean that even if I said this is the end of this posts we will see more of them in a near future... it could also mean the Valve/Blizzard/Mane6 version of the word...

But the truth isn't as interesting as I'd like you guys to think it is, "Soon" is the name of a folder I had in my pony music folder where I stored a bunch of stuff. You see, before I posted episode 1 of The Playlist I decided it would be for the best if I had a bunch of pony music ready to be posted just in case my plan went horribly wrong and I couldn't post about certain bronies (which, if you pay attention to this written messes, it happened), and so I reorganized my pony music folder (separating artists with their own folders and the like), at the same time, I thought it would be a good idea if I went full on crazy Twilight and MONITOR EVERYTHING...

...The brony music scene was doing, so every time I saw someone I didn't know in EqD I'd go check his profile, Soundcloud, Bandcamp, whatever site they had put their stuff into and get as much as I could, of course, I never had enough time to listen to all of it so most of these stuff went to the "Soon" folder, where it would soon be listened,and hopefully, it would soon be added to the main folder. Besides, I like the wait it sounds! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzuuuuunnnnn zzzzzzzzzzuuunnnnn zzzzuuuuuuunnnnn...

...

Anyway! Today's list was full of surprises for me, both for the artists that I didn't know and got to discover and the kind of bronies who I already knew by everything but name, so let's get done with the introductions and get this post going!

The first musician I'll talk about an... Interesting artist, a brony who specializes in glitches and glitching accessories a brony who can compose things ranging between Glaze covers to songs about genitals... Really... Today's first pick is TeiThePony!

I'm going to admit the only reason I decided to start with him was because of this piece right here...

It's an amazing intro.

Stockings is a really cool piece, it's a simple song that somehow manages to last for more than 3 minutes thanks to a lot of creativity, pauses and differents instruments... Of course I'm mostly talking about the background stuff here, what most people will notice is the way Tei uses Twi's voice and makes it sound like some weird rap-like composition, which is pretty cool too. (I just happen to like the music in the back).

And yes, just for today, Twilight DROPIT is best pony.

This one is a really cool rendition of Liquid's and Whatev's collab (I almost slip up and call him Prince there)

Though there is a thing I don't like... And it's the random use of Luna samples which kind of... Ruin the whole mood of the original song. >_>

Next is a brony who has a pretty peculiar voice and style, get ready to wub with Lectro Dub!

That's a pretty descriptive name isn't it? (both artist and track I guess)

This guy appeared in my folder just a few days ago, pretty much came out of nowhere, but I happen to enjoy a lot of this kind of surprises lately (thinking about the great things I listened from people like Kreühn Pöny and x3bs back before I made the first B-Side post).

Oh well, pretty slick track, the ending is like that side of dubstep I never liked but the rest of the piece more than makes up for it.

I don't think I need to introduce you to Aviators and his amazing voice...

Anyway, this piece right here deals with a creepy side of the "Lyra wants to be human" fanon... And it does it in a pretty sick song form, bonus points for having some really cool lyrics that can be a little twisted here and there and be interpreted as something... Not so different I guess, but the desire of being someone else but oneself is something more than one had, and this song really makes you think about that kind of people. Especially the chorus...

The next brony is one of those cases where I had most of his stuff already but I didn't realize about it until I started making this posts, a really good musician with a calm yet powerful sound... get ready to enjoy the music of ʐʌhqō!

Okay... I had my moments of doubt about showing this guy's stuff, but most of this comes because pretty much all of it is a collab with Haymaker, to the point I can't tell them apart. >_<

I mean, I know Haymaker is the singer but these guys work together so much, and they do it so well that I kind of felt odd about mentioning just one.

And this track right here is a great example of that work, the chorus is really good and the melody sticks in your head and doesn't leave, the mix of synths and real instruments is awesome. A really cool track to listen at any time.

Now this is a pretty cool piece, turning what was pretty much a rock song into this is nothing but impressive... And I'm actualy surprised about how well Tomb works as a "Haymaker replacement". XD

Actually, ever since I made Tomb's playlist I've been listening to his remix of Bacoming Popular and trying to figure out why I liked it more than most of his other singing stuff, the only thing I noticed is that BP shows us Tomb's clean voice with little to no editing (and that accent)... I think I like his non edited voice a lot more than the one he uses regularly and I wish I could hear more like that. (or at least just 1 or 2 more... So I can confirm my feelings >_> )

Oh well, that was kind of off topic, the point is, this song is awesome, Zahqo's style is awesome, and it's something all of you should check if they haven't already (IIRC and Haymaker are the most popular guys in this list... Watch me be wrong because I never really check the viewcounts and the like)

The next brony is someone who has a very... Kid friendly style I guess, his music is just so... Happy... At least it makes me happy, so come and hear the delicious pieces of Toastwaffle!

Man I never noticed this before but a lot of good stuff came out of So Many Wonders.

This charming piece is a mix of Piano, chiptunes and Flootershai, obviously a winning combination if you ask me. :V

(Also, I kind of find funny how the last part of wonder sounds like derp here)

The next artist is a brony with a soft voice that kind of contrasts with his use of electric guitar which a nice mix to listen if you ask me, so sit back and enjoy the voice of Forest Rain!

I wanted to make some sort of switch between Forest and Waffle and just post the latter's remix but there is no way I can ignore the original, especially that piano at the beginning (after deciding I'll post both versions, I decided to also show the acoustic version, just to be sure).

Truth to be told I prefer the acoustic version, for some reason the upbeat feeling of both the original and Waffle's mix don't go so well with what the song is trying to say, not saying that a love song can't be upbeat nor... bubbly... But I just feel acoustics are more suited for this (besides, "dat piano" doesn't go so well with the rest of the song on the original, though I like how Waffle grabbed that part and made it the main background melody).

Cover of a song made by And The Rainfall (who you should totally listen to if you haven't). And I'd hate to say this to Rainfall but this cover is just better in pretty much every aspect, the mood fits way better with rock and Forest voice makes a lot for the song.

Also, this reminds me back at what I said last week about MB's Pinkie's Morning, that sound made a great job at describing Pinkie's character and routine, and yes, I think this one does a pretty good job with the farming pony... might not the kind of tune I'd hear for a character but this one really does a nice job at showing us the world through her eyes. (and maybe imply some shipping... Because...)

As a side note, Forest might be the only brony in this list that I didn't get enough time to check all he has to offer (I do have his album but I might have missed some other pieces here and there), obvious mistake that I plan correcting tonight...

We follow this... Surprisingly wubless list (I mean, they are all over the beginning but they just faded away as we went didn't they?) with another rocking brony... Man these are starting to pile up XD.

But that doesn't make them less awesome, next one is someone whose voice kind of reminds me a bit of MB, but with a more heavy style, a brony who is... No longer allowed to publish things in the style of his first songs. XD (crazy how getting signed works huh?)

11 ) Help Me

I'm not completely sure about how I feel about the lyrics but there is something undeniably awesome about this song, the way it introduces itself, the way it changes it's pace after the 3 minute mark and, well, the whole piece sounds like the kind of stuff you'd hear in a game trailer or as the main score of a movie.

I can even picture the action scenes in my head. :U

12 ) Going Astray

And this one right here is just fun to listen to, a party song if you will about going crazy and dancing all night (with some added beverages)

Kind of sad to know this might be the last thing of this kind we're going to hear from him in... 1 year at least but Peak is still doing music, and it's still pretty awesome so you should check it, even if it might or not be your style.

And at least, the last artist I'll post about for some time (pffft, I bet I'll be doing single music posts like I've been doing for a while), he seems to love the fandom a lot, he likes his fanfics, he likes his tumblrs, but that's not what we are showcasing right? He's a pretty good musician, in fact he is one of the Beatle... Bronies... ... So let's enjoy the music of Dylan AKA Poni1Kenobi.

I'm going to assume you've at least heard of the Beatle Bronies (and if you don't well, what better time to check them than right now?) so I'm cutting straight to what we are actually seeing here.

This piece here was my introduction to the guy and remains one of my favorite pieces, like most of his first original works this one is based in a fanfic (part of an album called "It's All Fanfic to Me") called... Shipping and Handling, that story that I freaking loved for 4 chapters, disappointed me after some point and got lost in my to read list to never resurface again. (I'm kind of curious right now about how it turned out so I hope I can find it at some point)... But that's beside the point, this track right here feels like those awesomely cheesy themes the series and sitcoms used to have back in the day (?... Or they still have them... I dunno)! From the catchy intro to the title drop at the end of the chorus.

I'm kind of disappointed no one did an animation with this one.

And this is it! The big finale!

Kind of anticlimatic when you consider the music genre and the other ends I've done in the past but TBH I couldn't have picked another piece to end this series with, becuase the track you see right here is one of those things that I can only describe as beautiful... or SoGreatAndPowerful...

Originally a SGaP piece, and a very peculiar one at that for me since it was one of the first times I stopped listening to his use of samples and actually hear his voice and what he had to say. And boy was this a trippy experience!

To this day I still don't know how the guy works but he still wonders me with his use of the words, like if he was trying to say random things and at the same time trying to express something of a bigger meaning (and I'll get to say more about this later), sometimes I hear what pretty much sounds like lines of the show re-arranged like this song was at some point supposed to be like the ones in The Standard Model... But most of the times I just ask myself if he just wrote something in another language, gave it a run through Google Translate and then just made it rhyme...

But back to the current song, Dylan grabbed the original and I'd dare to say it actually improved it, he gave it a style that fits with his and an instrumental that makes it easier to sing and enjoy (it gives me a really nice feeling whenever I hear this one, I want to sing, I want to dance, I want to picture a story that fits with the song...) and I really think Dylan's voice was made for this kind of song... And it concludes with an amazing ending, the way he finishes the last chorus is great but the song keeps going and ends with a little cameo of On My Own that depending on the mood I have could even get to drive me to shed some tears (because I'm such a fangirl when it comes to SGaP).

Heck, the fact that Dylan got to find lyrics to sing about one of The Standard Model songs makes me question if they had a message hidden inside of them from the very beginning... Which makes me think about and appreciate that series a bit more.

And so, we conclude another episode of B-Side, we decided to remember this series with a smile instead of a picture of the awful wreck it turned out to be.

Self-deprecation and complains aside, I had a lot of fun doing this... Not sure if my original objective of showing appreciation to the brony musicians was met because at some point the thing deviated into "Music gato likes" XD, but I think I did a good enough job at showing how many sides and genres of music the fandom coves.

Still.. I feel this wasn't enough so I decided to at least name drop the other artist I got to listen while making this posts.

Those who made it to the Soon folder and where supposed to be posted here but I couldn't fit them all in like Cats Milionaire, Tarby, Cyril, &I (or Andi), Archers of Agincourt, Coconeru, Db Pony, Foozogs, Grifinilla, Liquid Cobalt, Orchestral Design, Psychedelic Brony and The Phony brony.

And of course, those who were already in my Pony Music folder but I never got to give them their own entries in the list like Alex S, VoodooPony, AgileDash, Acoustic Brony, And the Rainfall, Archie V, ArtAttack, Aviators, Bagpipe Brony, Blaze, Bronyfied, DasDeer, Dr.Dissonance, Eurobeat Brony, RainbowCrash88, H8_Seed, Interrobang Pie, ISMBOF, Jeff the Strider, MHM, Miu, NotACleverPony, Navy brony, PinkiePieSwear, Princess Adicta, Prince Whatever, Replacer, SoGreatAndPowerful, Delta Brony, Stormwolf, TAPS...

And many many others that I didn't get to list (I have another folder full of unsorted pony music >_>) or listen... Or maybe some that even I don't like... Point is, there is a lot to pick when it comes to music and this fandom!

Next week I'm probably going to compile all these posts and put them together so I can link them in my sig or something (Yes, even after being finished I can still milk this!). But that's all you are going to have from me for now!
