What calls my attention that no one is asking for an Ice Cap track after all the Ice Cap in Generations discussion

and would love to have levels that didn't make it to Generations. Kingdom Valley, Hydro City, Ice Cap, Arid Sands, Dragon Road, etc

The main thing I'd like in an ASR sequel is more franchise variety in the tracks. Not that I don't like Super Monkey Ball or Billy Hatcher, but I don't feel like either of those games' level themes were really unique enough to justify them hogging so many tracks when they could've been used to represent more series.

I would also totally love to see Vyse as a playable character, since he didn't make it into the first one and Skies of Arcadia is amazing. Oh, and for certain reasons, I demand that Segata Sanshiro ride a motorcycle if he appears.

I don't care what levels they use for Sonic representation, as long as they don't pick an SA2 level, and a level like Frog Forest or Mystic Mansion gets used as Heroes representation.

Only if Eggman is the announcer.

He was for "Showtime Mode", but Eggman got scrapped because it "didn't make sense to have him as an announcer and as a racer" ( or to my recollection.)

Honestly, I hope they fix that glitch problem I had with the original since my racers kept falling through the floor and clipping corners and whatnot. I do hope they add in more ribald humor - because I never get tired of posting this picture:

And honestly while I would like to see Mario and Luigi in the game, I would rather have Wario and Waluigi in the Wariomobile (though that treads too close to the Bonanza Bros.)

Well, since Metal finally appeared in the first game, he's all I really wanted for a character to play as *shot*. So as long as him (and Opa face) make a return, I think I'm good, XD. I'm more looking forward to just more tracks to play, and maybe more customizing options like karts, but as long as characters themselves still have stats.

Come on, SEGA! Now's your chance to bring in Ristar, Vectorman, and Toejam & Earl! That would be SO awesome to see them again in a new game like this!

Well, I mean, as long as it's the classic Toejam and Earl from the Genesis times, not..uh..

I know a bunch of people are excited for NiGHTS and all (And that SEGA kinda trolled by putting her at the one who makes the racers start. Then again, I think I remember her being sort of last minute, so she probably has a way higher chance now because of popular demand.) But I was really hoping for Ristar, Vectorman or Toejam & Earl. If any three of those characters make it into this game, then I'll definitely be happy with it.

As for stages, I feel it'd be pretty cool if they tried re-imagining levels from an earlier era, kind of like they did in Sonic Generations except, obviously, using stages that they didn't use for Sonic Generations. Using stuff like Ice Cap zone as a race track and stuff like that, it would be pretty interesting to see how they could turn the different elements of the place into a race course.

Fuck Vectorman. I don't need him, I'd rather have that space used for good characters. All I want are Ristar(, Ecco) and Toejam & Earl, really. But there are a bunch of characters that I don't necessarily need that should get in over Vectorman.

talking more specifically, here's my whole idea:

another vehicle for each character to be unlocked

Sonic - motor bike in the same style as the car

Tails - His Sa2 Tornado car

Knuckles - His kart from Sonic Drift

Metal Sonic - His kart from Sonic Drift

Amy - some sort of retro bike

Big - small green Jeep

Eggman - flying vehicle/pod

Shadow - His flying vehicle from ShTH

Aiai - banana shaped motocycle

Amigo - a sort of flying maracas

Beat - a painted kind of truck

Billy Hatcher - egg shaped hovercraft

BD joe - Taxi Bike

Ulala - futuristic bike

Zobio & Zobiko - big old motorcycle

Opa Opa - ...a bit difficult to imagine something :D

Mobo/Robo - Side car

Jacky & Sarah - sport motorcycle ( yes, I'd replace Akira with Sarah)

Ryo - Forklift

ChuChu's - Kapu Kapu themed car

Alex Kidd - peticoper

characters wise (as I posted before):

Blaze the Cat - a sport car and a ATV

Chaotix - Bus kind of truck and Side car

NiGHTS - hovercraft and car

Bayonetta - her bike and "angel" shaped car

Ristar - star hovercraft and ATV

Astal - car and hovercraft (purple bird shaped)

Joe Musashi- car and bike

Gilius - bones and rocks shaped truck and beast bike

Arle & Carbuncle - Puyo Puyo car, Puyo Puyo bike

Toejam & Earl - spaceship, car

secret character: Segata Sanshiro - Saturn and Dreamcast shaped vehicles

modes wise:

there should be a "Normal mode", in which you have the same things as the previous game, such as single race, grand prix (also in 2P), missions, unlocking tracks/chars/vehicles...

then you have the Story mode, in which you can upgrade vehicles, customize a bit, and do boss battles. After beating this mode you unlock the Special Mode where you can do single race/grand prix, battles with upgraded and customized vehicles

weapons wise:

2-3 normal weapons added, as well as a specific move for each character, that you can use when you collect 5 rings during the race (sam fashion as Wacky Races for Dreamcast)

tracks wise:

I'd like to see some returning ones (not all of them) a little remastered, to give little more emphasis on speed and extreme racing

feeling.

gameplay wise:

the concept of the previous is fine, need to fix the collisions, and add the ring collecting during a race, that allow you to use a specific character move (not as powerful as the All Star move though), such as Chaos Control for Shadow (slows time for 4-5 secs), Thunder move for Gilius, Banana throwing for AiAi and so on...

graphic wise:

at least 50fps solid framerate

Starting cast (with only one vehicle):

Sonic, Tails, Eggman, Amy

Amigo, Aiai, NiGHTS, Beat

Ryo [F], Joe Musashi, Bayonetta, Jacky & Sarah

Cool! I was hoping for a Sonic And Sega All-Stars Fighting/Smash Bros. clone (What? ASR was practically a clone of Mario Kart), but this is cool too! Obviously hoping for NiGHTS as a playable character, but I'm also hoping for more variety in the Sonic levels, as in more from other games, and less from Heroes.

If Ecco isn't in a giant fishbowl on wheels I'll be disappointed.

I suggested this for the first game, and people just said it would be disrespectful to the series :/

It'd look less ridiculous than a dolphin sitting upright driving a car.

Maybe they can at least give him track representation, a clear cameo like Ristar had in SaSASR1.

I like the fishbowl idea myself. Last time people said he should be flying xD

I don't know how well a cameo by him would work, seeing as he looks pretty much like a normal dolphin.

Kotaku is the only one reporting about it. If it's true, then it appears the representative they speak of must have only told them about the ASR sequel and got told off/silenced afterwards tongue.png

Maybe Kotaku misunderstood them? They could've said something like "We'll also have some toys ready for the new ASR", while they meant rereleasing the old toys for a port?

Kotaku seems to have more details than just statues. With this "New Characters will be revaled troughout the year" and that rumor on Sonic Stadium I think something is going on.

The rumor on Sonic Stadium only has Sumo saying what consoles the game they're developing is coming for and that coming from the last game they developed for SEGA it should be obvious what this is.

And going by the consoles it'S coming for, an enhanced port seems more likely at the moment.

I think that line is kind of a generic "safe" line just to keep you interested or something. Of course they'll reveal new characters throughout the year. You don't need to be told they will to know that. It's kinda what happens in the lead-up to games, especially "celebratory" fanservice games like this.

I think SUmo can handle this well. The restrictions for the first game seemed more like a time issue rather than them not wanting to build this big variety of levels. I think nobody was thrilled to see 3 sonic level themes(casino, seaside hill and flying fortress) being used 3 times each. The team seemed very dedicated to please their targets and make a great game at the same time. By now they must know well what the fans want.

I do reckon that the stage list is something they should really push with this one. Also i'd like to say that I am very happy they are going with a new racing game. This news has made me very excited tbh. I am very pumped to see how much this second game is gonna build upon and progress from the previous game. They seem to have gotten alot of time this time around.... well not sure but it seems they haven't done alot so i'm just assuming they did
