I don't think Eggman can breath in space, as seen in Colors when he was floating away and he had that glass up in his Egg mobile.

Eggman could just do this.

"Come here Sonic, I dare you can't come out here and fight me!" -Eggman sitting outside of air field in Egg mobile-

"Alright, Eggman!" -steps out of the air field and suffocates-

"I WIN!"
