Because... well, I can't think of anything else. Don't want anything for the PS3 until I can figure out why mine is acting screwy (and there isn't really anything that interests me that much anyway). And I didn't want to be all "ooh loophole" even though Carbo said he supposed it was ok. And I really liked Mario Party 8, and 9's gonna be like the last game for the system, so...

Yeah...

Day 28 - most anticipated.

Let's say AA vs Layton.

I'm a big fan of the ace attorney series. I haven't played Layton, though I have heard of its praise. AA wasn't much of a puzzle game; you just solve crap and prove crap. However, now we're going to solve crap and prove crap though puzzles! I'll be able to see Nick in the courtroom in 3D. It'll be awesome.

Most Anticipated Game

Sonic 4 Ep. II/Super Smash Bros. 4 (tie)

6e0f5__Sonic-4-Ep-2-Logo-600x480.jpg

Yes, I know Sonic 4 Episode 1 had its flaws, but I still liked it. With promises of new additions, as well as fixes to the physics (the main complaint about the first episode, after all), I'm stoked for this new installment. That and there's not a whole lot I'm VERY excited for at the moment.

Super-Smash-Bros.-Logo4.png

Considering how excited I was for Brawl (especially once I found out Sonic was going to be in it), I'm sure that I'll be just as excited for SSB4. What I hope for is that Sakurai and his team make it even better than the last three games. As for character ideas, other than Sonic's return, I don't have any at the moment. OK, maybe Megaman and Professor Layton (If Phoenix Wright can get in UMvC3, why can't Layton get in Smash Bros? XD)

Runner Ups:

* Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle

* Professor Layton VS Ace Attorney

* The WiiU in general

The only announced games I even have a slight interest in right now are for a console I don't own or intend to own in the foreseeable future (3DS) so actually I don't really care about them. Unless you count Smash Bros Kerfuffle, since that was announced and I do intend to buy a Wii U, but I don't, since it hasn't even begun production. Or Half Life 3 which has been teased to hell and back and is definitely being made as I type, but hasn't officially been announced. Oh I love getting technical.

Anyway. Basically my point is that there's no official upcoming game that I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I want.

Instead I'll talk about Japan time.

1200609655821.png

(no, I didn't make this; and here's plenty more for your enjoyment)

The hype for Brawl was quite honestly unforgettable, and one of the most fun times I've spent on the internet. The excitement of coming home every day to see the Dojo update and all the shitstorms caused was just fantastic. The incredible anger when the update sucked, the immense joy when there was a newcomer, it was all so great. And this was at a time when I actually adhered to something resembling a bedtime, so those rare nights when I stood up until four in the morning to see the update as it was posted were something special. You don't know how awesome it felt to be the first person to announce the news in the massive SSMB thread if you haven't experienced it yourself.

Not to mention the day Sonic was announced was just magical. Really.

And I can't wait to do it again whenever Kerfuffle actually comes to exist.

Day 28 - Most Anticipated Video Game

Timesplitters4.png

I'm surprised at the lack of Timesplittery on here. Has nobody on SSMB ever played the series or is everybody just sick of waiting for Crytek to make the damn game to the point where they've given up on all hope on seeing the game and have moved on with their lives? Well, seeing as to how Perfect Dark is my favorite game of all time and that a Timesplitters sequel would be the closest thing to a Perfect Dark 2, I haven't. tongue.png

For those who don't know, Timesplitters is a spiritual successor to the fabled GoldenEye 007 (and Perfect Dark...to an extent) on the Nintendo 64 (not that Wii Re-imaging Call of Duty rubbish). Regenerating Shields? Only two weapons to hold at a time? Super Ultra Gritty Realism? Nope, get that crap out of here. Timesplitters carries the Unreal Tournment type of gameplay that I know and love. You can carry all the weapons you want, Health is something you need to closely watch and keep a look out for armor power ups, and a cartoony atmosphere is present, allowing you to play as monkeys, gingerbread men, zombies, and even a talking cactus. Did I mention that every game features bots and split-screen multiplayer goodness?

In addition, you have a whole bunch of objectives to look out for during the campaign. None of that boring hide behind cover, wait until your health regenerates, shoot people and repeat for 6-8 hours crap. Timesplitters will have you going through specific routes in the levels, doing specific tasks ranging from shooting down cameras to blowing up important enemy equipment, Future Perfect involves you creating time wormholes and INTERACTING with your past and future self in wacky escort missions several times throughout the game. This series is too awesome to be neglected...DO YOU HEAR ME CRYTEK??!!?!

Unfortunately, details are rather scarce due to Free Radical becoming bankrupt and being bought/merged with Crytek during the game's development, the game might not even be released this gen because I don't think Crytek is even WORKING on it right now, but I'm rather patient. Hell, I just got a 360 this Christmas (and I'm JUST experiencing GoldenEye 007 for the first time ever since it's 1997 release), so I got plenty of other games to play while I wait for Crytek to finally start working on this game (maybe I'll give Crysis a spin when I finally acquire a PC that doesn't totally suck at gaming).

If I had to choose a game coming out this year......ehhhh, I honestly really don't care about games released this gen, let alone, this YEAR. Nothing really compels me to make me think "I NEED TO PREORDER AND GET THIS VIDYA GAME ON MIDNIGHT LAUNCH OR MY LIFE HAS NO MEANING!" I mean, sure, Lollipop Chainsaw looks funny (and Gochi Suda, aka, Suda 51 is freaking awesome, so I KNOW the game is going to be good), but that's about it. I'd MUCH rather play old gems from the past that I haven't played when they first released like Final Fantasy VII (I didn't have a Playstation back then...). Games this gen just seem...idonno, lifeless (of course, with Sonic and a few devs like Suda 51 and Miyamoto providing some VERY nice exceptions).

I guess my runner ups would be either Mario Galaxy 2 or Touhou 11 (We can still be anticipated for games that already came out but we haven't played yet, right?). Mario Galaxy's Orchestra was freaking beautiful and I'd love to see what kind of new themes they made for the sequel. Plus the level design is suppositely better and I found the first game's levels to be rather dull. Oh, and I don't need to explain about how much I love Touhou Project after the amount of posts I made on here gushing about it... tongue.png

It's not my most anticipated game of all time (yet?) but I'll have to go with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. I expect amazing things from the game and I'm really hoping we get the Dojo again, as unlikely as it probably is...

I'm hoping for a bit more third-party support this time - Mega Man is a must, Pac-Man and Bomberman and Rayman would be awesome additions, Sonic better stay, and I'd like to see Snake stay too, unless his presence means we can't get Simon Belmont.

The music should be amazing - I'm hoping for a non-Jungle Donkey Kong stage so I hope for some awesome remixes from the Donkey Kong Country series. Something from DKC3 would be awesome just due to the obscurity of the game.

The story mode is really exciting. If the jump is as big as Melee to Brawl, we're in for a treat.

I really can't wait to get my hands on this, ever since it was announced last year I was intrigued by it. The style, story how everything feels so cinematic, the gameplay and how everything is just so over the top is my king of game, plus it's a new ip that is vastly different from the games were're seeing now. I played the demo and its kinda like dbz and god of war blended together. It just looks and plays hella fun just can't wait to play this.

The game I'm most anticipating is the next installment of Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS. I had SO much fun keeping track of the news in the build up to Brawl and I loved the incredible hype that surrounded it, so I can't wait until it starts up again. Man, it's gonna be great to see everyone speculating and excited again. :D

Day #28 - Most Anticipated Video Game

igkmtc.png

When they announced Lollipop Chainsaw... I looked at one image... saw it was a game about a hot cheerleader who goes around cutting zombies into chunks made by Suda51... and was immediately sold. And I've only wanted it more and more with each new reveal we've had since. It's one of those games that looks so ridiculous that it's gotta be awesome, and.... it's kind of hard to put into words exactly why I want it, so just watch

and see for yourself. I love things that are crazy over the top and that's probably why it appeals to me so much.

n5heo3.png

My favourite GC game was always Luigi's Mansion. It was a short game once you knew what you were doing, but it just had so much charm to it, and it was awesome to see Luigi in the spotlight for once (you know... in something that wasn't Mario is Missing). I've been telling people for years that they MUST make a sequel, although I never expected it to actually happen... so you can imagine how excited I was when this was announced. I know we don't know a lot about it yet, but I'm really looking forward to it. The idea that there's more than one mansion really intrigues me, as the length really was the only problem the original game had. So if they stick to the same formula and just stretch it out a bit, it's gotta be a winner. smile.png

Last one... and I debated on whether or not to include this as it IS a remake... but..

16gaejq.png

Little Big Adventure 2 is one of the best games you've probably never played... although I'm ashamed to say I've never played too much of the first one. But that's not the main reason I'm interested in the remake... no, it's the fact that the developers have stated it may be used as a testing ground for a third title in the series. There was an interview not so long ago where they mentioned that they do have a lot of ideas for an actual sequel, and it kind of depends on what happens with this remake. So I'm really eager to see how that goes.

Honourable mentions: PSO2, Anarchy Reigns, Binary Domain, Rhythm Thief... and I'm kind of interested in seeing how Amazing Spider-Man turns out.

God, is it weird that Mario Party 9's box art alone is really making me want it? 8C

Must be OCD and catch up with Mario Party 7 and 8 first though...

Day 28 - (Current) Most Anticipated Game

Kid-Icarus-Uprising-Boxart.jpg

Words cannot express how much I want this game. It looks like so much fun. The on-rails shooter gameplay looks pretty cool, but the ground based gameplay looks even better. The amount of weapon types and how many extra weapons you can unlock is pretty crazy, and the online multiplayer looks like a ton of fun too.

Sorry if this post sucks, I feel like garbage right now.

Right, so, I'm excited for...

PRETTY MUCH EVERY NINTENDO GAME FOR THE 3DS

That means Paper Mario 3DS, Luigi's Mansion 2, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Super Smash Bros. 4, Animal Crossing, Majora's Mask 3D (If it ever ends up becoming a real thing), and Unannounced 2D Mario game. Also Rhythm Thief, but that's SEGA. I still want it though.

So basically, Nintendo's upcoming lineup of 3DS games is full of Triple-A super awesome titles. Revivng old franchises with new twists? Hell yes. Awesome sterioscopic visuals? YES.

All of that on a portable console? HELL. FUCKING. YES.

Day 28 - Most Anticipated Game

Super Smash Bros 4

I talked about Brawl on the Multiplayer day already and most of the reasons I posted back then can be said here. It's the game I usually play when friends are over. If they can do the Dojo again, I'll be very happy. I thought that was really enjoyable way to give information on the game. I can't wait to see all of the new characters and levels and remixes and trophies and blahblahblah.

Halo 4

Also mentioned on the Multiplayer day. I loved the past Halo games, so I'm really interested on seeing what they do with the series now. I can't wait for the start of the new trilogy. I hope multiplayer is even better than Reach's. I thought the additions of the Spartan abilities made it even more fun.

It looks like they toned down the contrast on the cover.

Interesting point brought up by Cola:

Where the heck is Luigi.

EDIT: Found him. Poor guy is minimized and is left of the title.

Most Anticipated Game:

Probably Bioshock Infinite. the first Bioshock was amazing for so many reasons, and the second one didn't really reach the same level the first did. But now that Kevin Levine is back in the picture this game is going to be one of the greatest games of 2012, I can just feel it. I'm also excited at the different setting chosen for the game, so that instead of visiting Rapture once more we'll have a whole new world to explore.

Not much more to say, people have been waiting for this one for a little while.

Is he over there at the top of that mansion because of the upcoming Luigi's Mansion 2?

It's more like an Anticipated Game for the US only, buuuut:

Xenoblade-Chronicles-artwork.jpg

I seriously cannot wait for Xenoblade. I was angry as fuck when I heard the game wasn't coming to America when it was announced for Europe, so as soon as it was announced, I literally went over to my GameStop and pre-ordered it the day pre-orders were open. I'm THAT excited for it.

500x_papmar1.jpg

Yeah, I'm really exited for this. Paper Mario TTYD was one of my favorite games, and I love the whole series. SPM wasn't quite as great as the first two, but it did have it's merits, like some of the level themes and the story (plus, Dimentio being my favorite villain...).

But yeah, this looks like it's going back to the always fun and different RPG style of the first two, with some changes like the new sticker system and more paperized battle mechanics.

My only complaint is that the level themes seem to be going the boring NSMB route, but who knows. I might be very pleasantly surprised.

But that really only is a small issue when the rest looks so incredible.

Day 29 - Most Obscure Game You've Played

This isn't an objective category by the way. It generally boils down to what you think is the most overlooked game you've played.

The quality of the game doesn't really matter, so if you want to twist it into a "favorite game that no one ever played" type of question, or even a game that you hated, then go for it.

Two more days. Let's see you guys go all the way.

Day 29 - Most Obscure Game You've Played

Briefly mentioned during the I think my most obscure game would be...

Takethat.gif

565873_5800_front.jpg

Lucky Luke - Wanted

You ever heard of this game? No? Well, have you at least heard of the comic series "Lucky Luke"? No?

...have you no shame?

Well, what makes this game definitely obscure, at least by North American standards, is the fact that it's a Europe exclusive game. Canada and the USA only had maybe two Lucky Luke games out of the good chunk that there are available, and they were only on the Game Boy Colour and PS1.

I had this bad boy (along with the first Harry Potter game) on the Game Boy Advance on its launch year on Christmas. To be honest, I think I'm practically one of the very few (maybe even the only one) who actually own a copy of this game on this side of the pond.

It was certainly fun, to say the least. Provided good entertainment until I got my mitts on Mario games.

Here's a gameplay video!

Day 29 - Most Obscure Game You've Played

256px-Doshin_the_Giant.gamecover.amazon.jpg

Doshin the Giant

What the hell is this. It never came out in America, but I remember reading about it in magazines. I was surprised when I found it over here. Basically you're some giant, yellow dumbass who walks around an island trying to make villagers happy. Doing so makes you bigger. You can also destroy stuff and make villagers hate you. I can't remember the game much anymore, but I think you could save villages from volcano eruptions and attacking villages.

Through your size you can also reform the island.

doshin3.jpg

"Come at me, bro"

Doing that makes you into an evil Doshin. I don't actually remember what that does, though.

Doshin-the-Giant-2.jpg

He also has an outie.

Or it might be his penis. Who knows.

Day 29: Most obscure video game

95wfpf.jpg

Of course this one is obscure. ResQ on the Genesis never saw a release. A prototype ROM was leaked onto the internet a while back with confirmation from the devs that it was the real deal. No one ever talks about it though, and while I haven't gotten around to beating it, it's a legitimately fun and very interesting puzzle/platformer, topped off with one swell soundtrack. Not very many videos on YouTube about it, either.

Here's one in action.

I-Ninja.jpg

This game really saw some limited releases, especially in Europe where only the PS2 and PC version existed. Not entirely sure how I got my hands on it, some PC mag I bought in Poland once gave it away.

I'm honestly not quite sure how this didn't kick off in popularity since as far as action games go this game pretty much falls into the same category of intuitively designed action platformers such as Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter. This was a charming, really fun platformer, and it had a healthy dose of hilarious humor. It's got some genre shifting stages in lieu of games like Sly, and they're not all that terrible. Lest we forget that the main character, Ninja, is one of the most snappy, snarky, stoic action heroes out there. It's hilarious just listening to him. I mean, Billy West is voicing him. That is pretty fucking cool.

Captain Crunch's Crunchling Adventure

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GWKPBJN-hQ

If you've heard of or played it, you're incredibly hardcore.

This game came with boxes of Captain Crunch Cereal, and it was pretty... well...

...it's not the most terrible thing ever, but it's, well. Uh, here's some gameplay:

This is really obscure. I mean, I can't believe how quickly this game came to mind when I thought of obscure. The first thing I thought of was

(which I've actually played, by the way), but then this popped up in my brain.

It's just weird.
