  1. SSMB member, Mad Ad, talked exclusively to Dreadknux about the almost damn-near certainty of a Fighting Fan Game, including members of the SSMB. Dreadknux has given Mad Ad permission to use the SSMB and TSS name in this Fan Game, along with sprites of his character. The plan for the fighting game is not one large game, it is lots of small instalment-like games, with each instalment being a match. Each game will be small, as it will be part of an ongoing fighting series. There is a league planned using this format style. The way it is planned to play is very much like a basic form of Smash Bros. Characters will have a limited attack range, but scenery in stages will provide many inventive ideas for other methods of attack. If you are a member of the Sonic Stadium Message Board, you're eligible to become a fighter in a new instalment of the as yet unnamed title. As a pre-requisite Mad Ad requests that his website, Wild Entertainment (currently not online, keep an eye out on Sonic News for updates...) should be advertised in return. For more information on what you need to do in order to be a part of the game, email Mad Ad at [email removed], or catch him on the SSMB. If you're not a part of the SSMB yet, and all this exclusive community goodness sounds good, you haven't heard the most of it. The Sonic Stadium Message Board is a cool MB where you can constantly chat and keep up to date on matters of Sonic. If that rocks your boat, register for free by clicking here.

    The SSMB Christmas Movie (2007)

Released on Christmas Day 2007, this festive holiday movie tells the story of a young Sonic fan called Lemonade as he wakes one evening to discover his favourite SEGA games have gone missing. Who is the nefarious culprit, and why has he gone on an anti-SEGA rampage? This community-made video was produced by @Sargeas part of the Sonic Stadium/SSMB's 'Advent Calendar' event during December 2007, and includes a 'wonderful' rendition of 'Christmas Don't Be Late' as performed by a number of Sonic Stadium members of the time. Tag yourself if you can hear your voice in this!

  3. You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you? Welp, it's that spooky time of year again, when kids dress up as monsters and go door to door for free candy, when adults marathon horror movies, when spooky, scary skeletons send shivers down your spine... or when Sonic fans dust off their consoles and ain't gonna let it get to them; they're just gonna creep down in Pumpkin Hill in order to find their lost piece! And that is exactly what we're sharing with you today, for the fine folks at the Sonic Stadium Message Board have come together this holiday to sing a fabled Halloween carol: A Ghost's Pumpkin Soup, by Tomoya Ohtani and Hunnid-P! 4. Right, now that a lot of recent drama has been dealt with, we return back to normality, and what matters most - KICKING EACH OTHERS' BUTTS! Oh, and new Moderators too, you've been waiting for that. Now first the New Mods. They have been effective as of this morning, so the new mods may already know who they are. PLEASE REMEMBER! If you did not get picked this time, do not feel downhearted - the new mods have been chosen due to their experience on this board. The new mods system is also based on a revolving system, so if you did not get picked this time (and you applied to become one), then you will have a greater chance of becoming a mod next time! Ain't I just the kindest? ... Guys? The new mods are as follows: Dark Metal Sonic Rainbow Hedgehog @UltimateVG @Egghog Don't worry, I have put mod powers on all your other username alter-egos too (i.e. DemonEgghog as well as the Egghog, etc). *EDIT* Actually, on second thoughts, I just gave mod powers to your normal usernames, it makes more sense and looks neater. BTW Rainbow, you have about 3 different usernames, and I mod powered one of them. If I have the wrong one (i.e. the one you hardly use to post), then reply here so I can change it.... *END EDIT* So no worries of just staying as one person to mod stuff here. But, as mods you have the responsibility to: protect other members of this message board Moderate (read: delete, edit etc) any offensive material, while at the same time informing me of events in particular (you can contact me while I'm not here via my email address!) Not be judgemental to anyone else's thoughts or opinions, even if it becomes offensive - to be a mod, you gotta keep a cool head and a clear mind. Move any inappropriate material to the corresponding forum - for example, if you see a topic of fluff within the 'Fan Stuff' forum, it's your job to move it into where it belongs - the 'Fluff and Party Topics Forum'. and so on and so forth. You lot won't be alone, because I'll be doing most of the work and decisions while I'm here, and anything major MUST be reported to me via email if I'm not present. All those responsibilities may seem pretty obvious to you, but it's a customary thing to do you know. Congratulate the new Moderators, as it's now their job to help patrol the dark streets of the SSMB. Erm, yes. Well done you four! Good show and all that. Other news, a date has been finalised for the FINAL Battle! Everyone take note, and a pen and paper, whatever, write it on your forehead, anything. Because this is when 'the grand event' is starting. Saturday 18th May 3:00pm GMT (that's UK Time) Sorry about the time, but I'm no good at converting times from UK to America and back. Since most of the US is about 5 hours behind the UK anyway, I'd say on average that the battle will commence at about 10:00 am that Saturday morning! So, Next Saturday (18th May) - 3:00pm GMT, 10:00am Eastern approx. Let's get it on!
  5. In this forum. Yes, as you may have noticed, I'm executing (god, I sound like Windows) to totally redesign this place. It'll kick ass when I'm finally finished. And, I already have one forum finished (it'll look the same in places because of that sodding bug) - it's called The Sky Sanctuary Reception Desk. You can find it at the bottom of the forum listing. The SSRD is replacing the Requests and Q&A Forum, putting the two into one. Also, future announcements will be made there regarding this MB, or SSNG itself (SSNG is due to hit your screens THIS SUNDAY!) Because of the SSNG phenomena, this MB is being renamed too. No longer will it be called the SSMB (but you can still name it that if you really want). When the whole board is complete, it'll be known as The South Island Forum - or the SI Forum if you want - to give it a more Sonic-y feel to it all. Andrew is helping me with the redesign, and the SSRD is the first look at things to come (click on NEW TOPIC to see the background in co-ordination with the colours...). Things look boring at the moment, but soon Ezboard'll get this thing sorted, and then we'll see a brighter future, I promise. Now, can you sing SCAAAAAHHHHTTTMAAAAAAN!!!!???
  6. Hi everyone, hope you're all having a great week! This is a quick notice to let all Sonic Stadium members know that we will be sunsetting the ability for users to sign up for accounts and log in using social media platforms like Twitter or Facebook. That means that soon you will need to ensure you have your own independent password and login credentials in order to continue using the Sonic Stadium. What? We will sunset the ability to sign up to and sign in to the Sonic Stadium using a third-party service on September 1, 2023. You will still be able to share your social media handles within your Sonic Stadium account. We will also be sunsetting the ability to sign in using your Discord account, but you will still be able to connect a Discord account to your Sonic Stadium account for server benefits and this change should not affect any existing Discord connections. Starting September 1, 2023 you will need to know both a login email address and a password in order to sign in to your Sonic Stadium account. What Do I Need To Do? You only need to take action if you are currently using a third-party service to log in and use the Sonic Stadium (Twitter, Facebook, Google, Discord). You will be able to tell if this is the case by visiting the User Menu > Account Settings > Security and Privacy and checking the method in which your account is requesting you verify. If you are being asked to sign in using a service like the above, instead of entering a password, you will be affected by this change and need to take action. Please confirm the email address associated with the third-party service you are using to sign into the Sonic Stadium (for Google it would be your gmail address, for Twitter and Facebook it would be the email address associated with your account on those platforms) You may also be able to find this information by going to your Sonic Stadium User Menu > Account Settings > Email Address. Sign out of your Sonic Stadium account, and click this link to head to the Lost Password page (you can also find the "Lost Password" link on the Sign In page) Enter the email address you have associated with your third-party service, from before. We will send you an email that will offer you to reset (or in this case, set) a password for your account. Click "Reset my password", then follow the instructions. You can now sign in to Sonic Stadium using this new password, and your account is future-proofed for the third-party service sunset on September 1. Why? It is clear that, over the years, social media platforms have not turned out to be the essential, permanent and secure portals we were led to believe. Recent events with Twitter in particular, and its changes to how third-party platforms can access its API, have effectively broken almost all of the connectivity we used to rely on for SSMB - and it has inspired us to take another look at the login methods we have on the site. While removing Twitter login/sign-up and connectivity is a matter of necessity - it literally no longer functions, so there's no point keeping it - for the other platforms it allows us an opportunity to revisit the relevance in allowing other platforms to maintain your Sonic Stadium access credentials for you. Facebook, for example, is more trouble than its worth with a rapidly declining relevance and a difficult and ever-changing set of connectivity rules. Meanwhile, we have identified that Google sign-in has been an entry point for a number of spam accounts over the past few months, and while we are bolstering our spam defences in other ways we feel that disconnecting this feature will go some way to saving us all an unnecessary headache. In a world where more people are using 2FA and password managers, it's also no longer a burden to be holding individual accounts for different websites and services. The best person to be in control of your account access, after all, is you. What If I Need Help? Please feel free to get in touch with us by shooting an email to support@sonicstadium.org with the Subject line, "Sonic Stadium Account Help". Please be patient as responses may be delayed depending on the number of emails we receive. Please Prepare for September 1, 2023. Many thanks for reading!
  7. It's that time of year again! The annual Sonic Music Spectacular is warming up for another run - and to celebrate Sonic the Hedgehog's 32nd birthday, the Sonic Stadium community is opening up submissions for the 2023 event right now! If you're not familiar with this event, the Sonic Music Spectacular is a community event organised by @Ryannumber1gamer that has been running for eight years now. It's a celebration of the music of Sonic the Hedgehog, allowing fans to contribute their favourite tracks to a playlist that is then streamed for all to enjoy! Users who take part will earn themselves exclusive Event Achievements as well. It's loads of fun, and I'm so psyched that it's coming back for another session in 2023. This year, the theme of the "SMS" is centred around the April Fools Day gag game, The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog. So as you'd expect, the event's artwork and all the Achievements you can earn are similarly themed! The more you participate in the music event, the more Achievements you can earn (these take the form of cute little tickets, and rank from Knuckles all the way up to Super Sonic). Full details are in the special Community Event topic on the Forums - check it out, read the rules and learn about what you need to do (there's a lot of text, but honestly, it's really quite simple to take part), and then post your music requests in that topic! The closing date for entries is 23 July 2023 - exactly a month after Sonic's birthday. After that, you may miss the chance to get any Achievements (or worse, have your music choices represented in the final stream). So go do it now! View full story

  9. Part of the new look Sonic Stadium has already been completed - I've finished the new Message Board for the website. If you remember, our Message Board was called The Sega Sonic Message Board - many people refer to it as the 'SSMB'. Well, the name has slightly changed... to The Sonic Stadium Message Board. Yeah. Cool name, huh? That way it's easily known as a part of the site, and can still be referred to as the 'SSMB'. Make sure you register there and become a member of the community - as well as being part of the coolest Message Board community around, you'll also get the latest information on The Sonic Stadium well before anyone else! Choice! The new URL is http://sonic.pathea.com/board/yabb.cgi Thanks to Zifei for the webspace, for both the SSMB and the up and coming new look Sonic Stadium. Get it in. Oh, and thanks for your support so far on the Sonic Site Awards 2002... I've had well over 300 votes already! You've only got till the end of the month, however - that's still time to vote if you haven't done so already! Get to it!
  10. In Sonic Battle Stadium news... I closed the topic of the Final Battle so that no-one can sneak in and change anything. I want to totally supervise this event, for one thing, and also, the number of battlers was decreasing more and more. We need more hype if we want enough battlers to turn up, so FOR THE CONCLUSION OF THE FINAL BATTLE OF SEASON ONE, PREPARE YOURSELVES FOR: SATURDAY 25TH MAY *SAME TIME* 3:00PM UK 10:00AM EASTERN (US) Today's first-parter was extraordinary! It's lasted three and 3/4 hours! Now, the conclusion, and who will win all the Season 1 Trophies and awards, a special award given out by myself, and a secret special PRIZE... Tune in next week, for those that aren't planning to come back until then. Anyone wanting to discuss a new time should bring it to my attention in the Q&A forum BEFORE FRIDAY. Online Comments: SSMB ezBoard
  11. You'll notice that I changed the order of the forums a bit. Why has the Sonic Battle Stadium got a section to its own? You'll find out soon enough. Also, go to the SBS now! Post your stats to the run up to the final battle - read the new stat rules first for that match first, though.
  12. Right, I said I was going to do this often, and now I am. To give people a fair chance, I am getting rid of the current mods and admins and re-instating new ones. The reason for this is not because the current ones are bad in any way - you were excellent. But I want this place to be of equal to all, and this is why I am doing it, so don't whinge, OK? If you feel you want to be a mod (no admins at the moment), then reply back here saying why you feel you deserve that title. The previous mods and admins may reply, but their chances are less because they have already had the privilege. Now, impress me ^^ Online Comments: SSMB ezBoard
  13. It certainly looks more 'clean' than before, when it looked all over the place. ^_^ As you can see, I've shrunk the forum pictures, with an intro to the side (looks better that way), and kept the new SSMB title logo (I was going to use that specifically for the new MB, but now I thought it'd look cool at where it most deserves to be - the REAL SSMB). There's also a small menu, telling you mods, admins, links to other sites of mine, and MB news told by myself in the centre. It looks a bit Sonic HQ-ey I guess, but in all honesty, that was my inspiration - tell me what you think of the new neat look ^_^
  14. I know, I haven't managed to get Ikonboard and Woltlab working in front of you and the YaBB seems to be the best one at working at the moment at showcase (THAT DOESN'T MEAN I'VE CHOSEN YABB!) And, with only one choice for a new MB, that leaves a poll a bit pointless. First of all, please read this before my decision... The Sega Sonic Message Board has been one of my most successful creations online. I am really proud of it, and proud that there are dedicated people that tune into this MB just to communise with each other. That makes me feel happy. Very happy. However, the SSMB was not always like this. No. SSMB had many a message board under this URL. First of all it was merely The Sonic Stadium Message Board. After no-one paid attention, because popularity of the Stadium was low (I had just launched it), I got annoyed, and changed it to Dreadknux's MB - with a different layout and all. Stadium got more popular, but this place didn't. After a fit of depression because of this place and renaming it 'The Dead Sonic Message Board', I decided to give it -ONE- last shot. People turned up, not long before they died down again. Until I kicked myself up the arse to do something about it to keep some people. That, coupled with possibly the SSMB's secret weapon - Sonic Guy. SG came across this place by chance of broken ankle, and since then has been dedicated to bring most of who are here today and keep them here. Of course, after SG rounded the first lot, you people brought your friends too. It soon became a regular activity between everyone on the board - SG, me, VG and all the other regulars gathered their online pals and real life pals too to check this place out. And oh, the times we have had. Countless Add-on Stories are now archived there, when at this point the reverse could have happened due to lack of interest - guys like Egghog are wittering on useless mumbo jumbo, much to my happiness, in the Chit Chat and Party topics forum. People have been showing their Fan stuff in the forums, and you lot have been getting along well with each other (mostly ^_^) There were times when I had this board when I thought "Wouldn't it be cool if I had a better looking board?" I mean, The Moogle Cavern was upgrading to YaBB, so was SFGHQ (although their servers are always down ^_^), I touched on the idea, and I kept having these bursts of trying to upgrade. I don't know, it's a kinda flaw of mine - whenever I see an opportunity to upgrade something needlessly, I do it, or try to do it. Then, in some cases, I end up regretting that decision. That's why I have come to my final decision now. Here's my thought on the matter... I think... that the MB we should keep is... ... the one we know best - Ezboard. Why try to upgrade something that is fast becoming a success anyway? And if we did all move to another board, it may suffer the same popularity problem that occurred when I first started out making Message Boards on Ezboard before SSMB. I am sorry for all of you that I worried during the time of this odd little phase of mine - as I said, it was a flaw of mine, and I see better and clearer now. Plus, this board has a lot (and I mean a LOT) of history here. Do we really want to just archive that in a 'look but don't touch' way while posting on a new MB, when we can be communising WITHIN the history that we have here. Therefore, I will be keeping this Ezboard - and if I ever get like that irrationally ever again, then tell me - don't be shy to ever bring forward your opinions on anything I do or plan. I am deleting all the accounts with the other MBs on it, as it's just a waste of space. However if you want the new YaBB board to stay online, then REPLY HERE saying so immediately, so that I can make the two boards co-exist with each other. More good news - We are getting a REDIRECT DOMAIN NAME for the Sega Sonic Message Board! Great huh? Now you don't need to type all that pub33 guff to get here soon. More on that when I get it. Plus, a few more cosmetic changes will be happening here - because I'm bored and need something to do mostly, but also to make it look less of a pit. ^_^ Hope you're happy with my decision, and let's carry on as we mean to.... go on? o_@ Ah well, it was worth a shot at doing a memorable last sentence. Never mind. What you still doing here reading this? POST! SSMB lives on @ Ezboard! Online Comments: SSMB ezBoard
  15. Right, last time I spoke on this matter I was torn between three main MBs to replace SSMB (over time). The three were: YaBB, IkonBoard and Woltlab. The first of the three, the YaBB one, is now fully configured and functional. Try it out now, because this may be the board that could be the new home for you lot! http://segasonicmb.netfirms.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi I found netfirms, that use Perl scripting, which is nice ^^ I would have had the Ikonboard ready, but I foolishly uploaded it all on Tripod because I thought it had Perl support. And I would have had the Woltlab board up as long as a week ago, but there is a severe bug with the boards - you gotta register to post, which isn't that bad, but there's a bug that keeps logging you out, so you have to keep logging in every time you try to do something. >_< Woltlab's site is down too, so that may come a measly last between the three if the bug keeps up. There IS a small bug with the YaBB, in that when you register you can't access the Profile pages (so you can edit your personal photo, custom sig etc), but it's only a small bug, and you can still do everything else. Plus, you can post as a guest too! Marvellous! Get settled into the YaBB board right away! http://segasonicmb.netfirms.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi P.S Oh, BTW, The Sonic Battle Stadium Season 2 will start... when the new board has been chosen! ^_^ Until then you can battle here, because there's no point in battling in two possible reject boards... Online Comments: SSMB ezBoard
  16. Right, I want everyone in the entire Message Board to read this message, so if you know anyone who has not read this topic yet, then direct them right here. Also, keep this topic bumped for as long as possible please, because as Head of the SSMB, this message to all of you is important to everyone, newbies and oldies. You may have noticed a string of events happening to the good old SSMB recently. First a cosmetic change, then an attempt to revolutionise the Battle Stadium (which, thank you very much, I'm not in the mood of trying out now...), then an attempt to even change Message Boards! You guys must be pretty confused as to the future of this popular cult that everyone else who is not "one of us" merely grunts as 'SSMB'. However, those people that merely grunt those letters are missing out on something big. That 'Something Big' is this. You lot. Even those that have just joined us are having a great time here, and I'm proud to say that standing tall. And erm, everything. You see, at the end of the day, when it comes to the future of the Sega Sonic Message Board, remember this. It is NOT about which servers we use to post messages to each other online. It is NOT about familiarity, and not wanting to move or change a feature merely because we are so used to having things the way they are - in fact, change is very much an exciting aspect. Do you guys do EXACTLY THE SAME THING every day, day in - day out? Even if you go out every night, having exactly the same old routine must get pretty damn boring at times. That is why change is so exciting half the time. But regardless of that sentence, the SSMB is NOT about having the same old things. No, those words 'SSMB' mean only one thing - YOU. It is US that makes the SSMB what it is, not where we actually stay in doing so. Changing boards or aspects of things shouldn't even be a second consideration, if not exciting to all of us. So just remember that everyone, SSMB means US, not EZBOARD and as long as WE don't change, it really doesn't matter what else does change. Got it? However, one of those things that come under 'US' is 'TRUST' - and it is this and the following may may explain my recent attitudes to your honest and unbiased opinions of the change that really is insignificant to US: The real problem I had along with this 'Trust' business lies with people trusting ME. Sonic Guy put it to himself that he is no ordinary person (when he thought that the reason for my gittish-ness was because of him). Well, I'm no ordinary person either (apparently ^_^). In a space of two years, I created The Sonic Stadium (soon to be SSNG now, thank the lord), Sega Sonic Radio, Sega Sonic Message Board, The Sonic Fan Club, The Sonic Site Awards, and maintained every one of those creations I've had. This board in particular is my favourite accomplishment - I'm glad that what I have done to this board has actually made a bizarre community (which I like :P) in which we talk about anything, Sonic, death of Bill Gates, and anything again. But, when I even so much as breathe at an attempt to try something new, it immediately gets blown away by everyone, almost all of which follow Sonic Guy's original opinion and have no real insight to the matter [probably] (not that that's your fault SG). Now that may not be the case, but it very much feels like it. I mean, your blowouts to my ideas probably wouldn't be so hard-hitting to me if The Sonic Stadium, Sega Sonic Radio, The Sonic Fan Club, The Sonic Site Awards, and this Message Board wasn't as popular with the Sonic Online Community in the first place, and ended up being complete toss. I'd respect your opinions to say "Nah, this is a naff idea" to EVERYTHING I try, if that was the case. But the fact is, all of my past creations ARE extremely well-recieved and critically acclaimed, yet the people on my own Message Board, the guys I trust the most, can't even trust me if I attempt to make one tiny modification. It really does sadden me. Anyway, after all this I just hope that the community on my Ezboard are willing to allow any changes I make for the better. If in doubt, just look at my track record of all my past creations - I'm sure you'll find that's a lot of popular events and sites in just a mere two year period of actually being existent online. I'm not saying I'll ever get anything wrong of course, but you'll never know if something is a proper shat idea if you don't TRY it first. And remember, as long as we don't change, anything else that changes is irrelevant. Cheers for reading you guys.
  17. Let's face it, Ezboard has been fun hasn't it? We've had some quality chatting, some excellent battling and even some hilarious fluffing. But times change. People change... *SLAP* Ow. Ezboard is getting slower and slower by the minute (and I don't think it's by accident - stupid assholes want our money so bad...). I know because it even bogs down on my connection... and I have BROADBAND >_< I've been looking for an alternative to Ezboard. However, don't be discouraged, the move will not be immediate, it's not as if I'm gonna suddenly shut off the greatest MB on the net, now am I? But I think that Ezboard has had its time, there are greener pastures, if you will, that should deserve to continue the SSMB legacy forward. I've been looking at the alternatives (I'm not going to settle for second best, trust me on this one - I'm getting a better board with much more features, if not the same amount of, as Ezboard, albeit faster and more efficient), and YaBB seemed good, if only I could find a bloody free host that accepts CGI >_< So, I canned that idea for www.woltlab.de board. Soon I will have it ready, and I will give a link - there won't be all the forums there to start with - after all, it'll take some time before the legacy is regained in a new home - think of it as a BETA New MB, in which you can try out all the new stuff and get accustomed to it before the slow and gradual move. Like I said, a SLOW and GRADUAL move - as long as everyone is content with this board, the two can co-exist together, but sooner or later I may have to speed up the process, if only a few people start coming to the Ezboard, and everyone else takes residence in the new one, for example. I KNOW I'm gonna get a pounding from you lot AGAIN - especially Sonic Guy - but trust me, I know what I'm doing, and it won't be a successful move if I didn't know what I was doing. The new BETA version of the SSMB will be online soon, and a link will be available as soon as. To get you started, only three main forums will be up - BETA Chit Chat, Sonic Battle Stadium (New Home, New Stadium ^^) and BETA Request forum and comments. As none of the other forums are quite as popular, they will all be moved across later on in the new board's life, as not to kill it off as soon as the new MB shows itself, see. The only downfall with the new MB is that you have to be registered to post, which in all honesty isn't really much, I mean, it's good to be part of an MB TEAM, rather than just guest posting all the time eh? So, prepare for a more advanced Sega Sonic Message Board, the BETA will be arriving soon.......
  18. It's time to interview some of our own talented community members! Sonic Neo is well known at the Sonic Stadium Message Board, and usually helps out with people's problems with Fan Games and the like. We have a chat about his activity on the forum, as well as his latest projects. TSS: Dread here, chatting to Sonic Neo. Neo, thanks for being here today. SN: You're welcome, glad to be here. TSS: Now, for those people who do not know about you, what is your role in the Sonic online community? SN: Well, in the Sonic online community I act as one of the "agony uncles" for fan game creators. People come to me for help with game creation programs such as Games Factory and Click n Create. Sonic Neo is known for his fan games and hoaxes. TSS: Cool, so you help people sort out their problems in making Fan Games. How did you learn how to use programs such as TGF and C&C in the first place? SN: Well I was first introduced into the world of game creation by my good friend Ace Spark. He taught me the basics and from that I expanded on what I knew to make simple games. I also downloaded how-to's from various sites to help my technique. TSS: What made you decide that you were mainly going to help people with their problems? Was it the realisation that maybe too many people couldn't get the hang of the programs? SN: Yes, it was. These are quite hard programs to understand but once you get the hang of them things become easier. For example, on the Sonic Stadium Message Board (SSMB), Sonic Guy and Beta Sonic were planning to make a fan game. They got people excited but then they realised that they didn't know how to make one, so I decided to help them. TSS: *Sighs* Whadda nice guy. ^_^ Seeings as you are so familiar with Fan Games and creating them, are you making a Fan Game of your own, on the side? SN: As a matter of fact I am. Its called Sonic Neo: Chaos Island. I made lots of friends at the SSMB and I asked if anyone wanted to be in it - now most of the main characters in the game are users from the forum. It's going to be a side project; I have exams and coursework to focus on, so it might take a while... but I'll get there. TSS: See, our Message Board helps everyone So, can you exclusively reveal any of the story of the game, or what it's about? SN: Well basically, you play as Sonic to begin with. But, as usual, Dr Robotnik is up to his old tricks... this time, he finally bags the hedgehog. He messes around with his genes and something weird happens. Sonic goes all weird and everything goes haywire in Robotnik's lab. Sonic escapes after having "Neo" tattooed into his arm by the Doctor. He bursts out of the side of the Flying Egglab and air-glides down to Chaos Island, where many other of Robotnik's experiments have gone to. TSS: Sounds creepy... how far has Sonic Neo: Chaos Island been in development for? SN: It's not been going on for long, maybe a month or two. TSS: Yet we have already seen a movie of the game, and it's looking sweet. Amazing. You haven't just been known for Fan Games though, have you? Just recently you've been showcasing Sonic hoaxes of your own... SN: Yes, when I started out in the community I was a hoaxer. I have around 50-60 of them archived somewhere... Anyway, after an incident on the forum I stopped making them for a while, but now I'm back into it. I have also been using the Games Factory to make a special project focused on hoaxes. A slideshow if you will, on hoaxes that can be viewed using Vitalize (a program that integrates with Internet Explorer to make the size of games smaller and easier to load and play). TSS: Besides Fan Games, you've also been making a lot of other fan-creation things yourself. Do you make any other stuff, like Fan Art, Fan Fics or Comics? SN: To be honest, I don't actually see the point in fan fics, but I do like drawing Sonic - although I'm not that good. I wouldn't like to think I hogged the "fan" genre by doing everything to do with it. I bet I sound really big-headed. TSS: No, not at all, no more than me... Back to Sonic Neo: Chaos Island, can players expect anything special from the game? Also, do you have a set date on when the game will be released, despite only being in development for a month or two? SN: I can't reveal a release date, although it won't be out for a while yet. Special features? It will be different from the usual old-skool style 2D platforming. There will be a mix of side-scrolling, puzzle, RPG, shooting and other gaming elements so it will be a game to remember ^_^ The storyline will also thicken as the game plays out. TSS: Are you worried that mixing so many different elements may ruin the game? This has happened in games like this before - original ideas, but ruined by odd gameplay. Do you have a plan to get around this, perhaps getting testers to play the game? SN: Yes, I have sent out demos of the different styles to people through instant messaging, such as UltimateVG for example. His comments, along with other people's, are whats going to help me improve it. TSS: What compelled you to start the whole Fan Gaming thing? You told me how you got into it, but what was the most striking thing about the aspect that made you go "Yeah, I wanna do that"? SN: Well, Ace Spark sent me a demo of his game "Sonic Legacy" and I was like "WOW HOW DID YOU DO THAT?". I'd never seen Sonic in anything else other than the official Genesis and Game Gear games - it was unreal at the time 'cos I didn't know how he did it. When I found out how I just wanted to do it. TSS: When you do discover your first fan game on the Internet, when you never knew the kind existed, the experience is unbelievable, I agree. You started making Sonic Fan Stuff because you are a fan of Sonic, have you always been a fan of the blue one, and when was your first experience of the hedgehog? SN: My first experience? My birthday, when I got a Master System... it was great because it was totally new at the time. Then I moved on to the Genesis when the real addiction began... TSS: About your hoaxes, where do you get your ideas from? There's a lot of funny and interesting ones there.... SN: My ideas? I don't exactly know where I get my ideas from. Mostly I try to just make them funny. I try to make them relate to recent events and films too. Mickey-takes also go down well. TSS: Reminds me of that South Park episode of David Blaine the other night... SN: Yup, I couldn't stop laughing at that. TSS: Anyway, on top of the Fan Games and Hoaxes-*twaaaa*, you also make a lot of sprites. Do you make them just for fun, or have they a purpose too? SN: I make sprites for fun, but sometimes I do them for other peoples side-pics etc. Sometimes I make sprites for my hoaxes, like the Terminator hoax. That's good fun too. TSS: Twaaaa. SN: Twaaa? TSS: 'Super Best Fools - twaaa'. Aaaaaanyway, I'm going mad, so onto the next question. What are your ambitions in the Online Sonic Community, that you want to achieve online through what you do? SN: I want to achieve online supremacy... Haha, only joking. I just want to be remembered, I suppose. I don't want to be forgotten and just have people know that games exist. I want them to know that those games were made by Neo. TSS: Do you have a website where you showcase all of your sprites and hoaxes? SN: I used too. Geocities found out that I was leeching, files and they closed my account. Bastards. Although most of my hoaxes are being hosted by your [site] anyway... on the Stadium Fan Community. TSS: Finally, do you have anything planned in the future that a little teasing of the public wouldn't go amiss? SN: You know what, I don't! Although you might see me on the designing team of Sonic Adventure 3 or 4 if all goes to plan... TSS: The online supremacy is kicking in already, huh? ^_^ SN: LOL, I don't know... I just have set my sights set high. TSS: Haha. Well, we're getting nowhere fast, so it's time to bring this interview to a close. Sonic Neo, it was great having a chat with you. SN: Thanks for having me, Dread.
  19. This is a list of special Achievements and Badges that are available to Sonic Community members on the Sonic Stadium during certain limited-time events. Users who participate in various tasks and projects across the Community will be awarded these Badges at the end of the event or limited period. Most Achievements are exclusive to their limited time event - if you miss it, you lose the chance to get it forever - but some may be made available in the future in repeat events.
  20. This is a list of legacy awards that were made available to users of the Sonic Stadium Message Board (SSMB). These were in active use between 2009 and 2017, using a bespoke awards system that was replaced with the current Achievements system in 2022. The below awards are no longer being distributed to users, and are listed on users' accounts as "Classic Awards".
  21. After taking stock of the general activity/health of the forums, I've decided to introduce some new guidance (which may become rules in the future, but not just yet) that will aim to encourage greater activity and more posts from users. The following may be changed or adapted over time as users get used to this guidance and we get a feel for what works and doesn't work. New Topic Per Comic ISSUE (AFTER RELEASE ONLY): I'd like to encourage people to make a new topic in this forum once a new issue of IDW is published and available for purchase. We can call it an Official Topic (OT) or a Megathread (MT), I'm open to suggestions. In these topics, other users can post their opinion of the issue's stories, and their feelings of how the series is developing in the context of that issue's release. These topics should NOT be created until the issue is published and available for sale. New Topic Per Comic Solicitation / Cover Release - NEWS TAG: I want to encourage more adhoc news posting on this forum. At the moment, one look at the topic listing in this forum makes it clear that things are pretty dead (there are topics relating to IDW news from August 2021!). For Comics, this is usually whenever a new solicitation is released or when an IDW artist/IDW itself pushes new cover art ahead of an issue's publish date. These are absolutely news-worthy and should be of interest to fans of the Sonic comics, so they should get individual topics. Use the 'NEWS' tag when posting these kinds of topics. Less Reliance on Overall 'Comic Brand' Megathreads - ESPECIALLY IDW For Comic Series that have ended, such as Archie or Sonic the Comic, it may make sense to contain all discussion in a single Megathread. It currently doesn't favour the forum to have an existing running single topic for all IDW discussion. It sucks all of the discussion to that one topic and makes the rest of the forum (besides that one topic) look dead. This is in particular reference to the General IDW Megathread. I might even close it soon, just to further encourage the above activity. What I want to do with these changes is to explode some of the various threads of discussion that are currently locked into one single topic, and encourage more discussion and activity by showing users who casually browse this forum that there is life in here. I know it's hard to break habits that have been worn in for years, but we can make sure that, by adapting with the times, this place remains a welcoming, relevant and interesting one for people to discuss the Sonic comics. I will be thinking of ways we can use badges and Achievements to reward and encourage users who follow the new guidance above, so we can all work towards this goal together. There is a really fantastic, dedicated and strong Comics community within the SSMB, and it's a shame to see them all clumped up in one topic when there is an entire forum dedicated to you. The world is your oyster! Take advantage!
  22. I've noticed on the Discord server that the Social Timeline (the place where SSMB status updates are auto-posted) doesn't appear to remove all deleted updates, meaning that a couple... pretty disgusting posts are still up to an extent on there. If there's a way to get the Discord bot to auto-delete these posts, it'd be much appreciated.
  23. +1 if you noticed the new logo. Yo, the forum's finally back after being in limbo for about a week. You know what that means? Movie nights are officially back as well, my fellow comrades! Unfortunately, Winston, my beloved co-host, has been banned from SSMB, and won't be assisting me on movie nights due to a lot of things going on with his life. However, he's the one who started this with me, so his name will always be in the Movie Night logo! For anybody who's relatively new to the community or otherwise, the gist of SSMB Movie Nights is to allow all of us to just come together on a Saturday during the weekend, and just have fun together watching a movie. A simple getaway from everything else you're dealing with, and getting a chance to be with fellow SSMBers while hopefully enjoying the film that is being shown, while being able to share your reactions and thoughts on it with others.. What's not cool about that? Now, it's time for me to go over the rules, along with some important tidbits you might want to keep in mind: All SSMB Movie Nights take place every Saturday evening, at 5:00 PM EST. Since most of you all are live in the UK or somewhere close, that's 10:00 PM GMT. I wanted to choose a time that's fair game for people on the western and eastern sides of the world, not too late, not too early. Although all designated SSMB movie nights take place on Saturday, some special streams of films might take place on Friday if I feel like showing a movie outside of Movie Night. Watch out for those if you ever wanna attend those. Leading up to the Saturday showing of a film, you'll be voting for what film you want to see that day through a Google Doc listing all the films for a specific theme, and you'll say which film you want to watch in a status update that's linked in that document. Previously we had polls, but people abused them to the point where we decided it wasn't fair for others to deal with vote bots ruining the fun for everybody else. There's a document in Google Drive right here so you can view what future themes I have planned in the coming weeks (not to mention it helps us keep track of what was done and what isn't). You can also put your own themes here if you want us to take them into consideration for later! All movie night streams take place here at MOTOBUG, SSMB's definitive streaming service! There's a chat there alongside the player showing the movie, so you can chatter freely with others while watching! We also have a Skype chat for Movie Nights to discuss future plans and the like, so if you want to be in it, just send me a PM or ask me if I have you on my Skype contacts. That's all I gotta say about that, hope to see you all at the movies, SSMB!
  24. Hello! You might have noticed that this place has changed a little bit since you last saw it. Welcome to the Sonic Stadium Message Board - 2015 Edition! The moderators, Bmn and myself have been working really hard these last few weeks to make sure the upgrade from IPB 3 to IPB4 was as seamless as possible, whilst also taking the opportunity to update the look and feel of The Sonic Stadium in a modern way. So there are a whole bunch of technical things that have changed, as well as cosmetic changes that relate to how the forum works. You'll see your username above the main content area: click that and a dropdown menu will appear containing most of the options you need to work your profile. Next to your username are a bunch of quick icons that take you to Notifications and Direct Messages. In the blue bar underneath the header, you'll see an 'SSMB' link on the far right (next to the search button), hover your mouse over that and you'll see different sections of the forum, like Calendar and Forum Staff pages etc. Posting replies is simpler than ever, and a lot of the bugs that have been prevalent in the forum this past year have been squashed. (Needless to say though, that if you're seeing anything that's a bit wonky, do post in the Member Feedback/Bug Reports forum, as it will help us troubleshoot stuff!) The cosmetic changes are part and parcel of a wider initiative by myself to reinvent The Sonic Stadium in 2015. Did you know that this plucky little website will be 15 years old in October? It's been through an awful lot, and with the changing habits of forum goers and website readers alike I've been spending a lot of time trying to figure out the best way to present the site (and forum) in a way that makes sense for everyone in today's era. That's why you see a chop-and-change of some of the forum listings on the homepage - SSMB has been re-organised so that discussion is at the top of the list, and the more popular forums are front and center so you can access them much more easily. Needless to say, SSMB's butterfly change into this current form is a prelude to what will soon happen on The Sonic Stadium itself, later this year - a lot more housecleaning is needed on the main site yet, before I can fully unleash the revamped design. Either way, I hope you like this new look and functionality, and are looking forward to what's coming soon! As this is brand new forum software, there will naturally be some elements that haven't crossed over to this new SSMB immediately - namely Badges. We are working hard to get these back, don't worry. They're not lost forever! We're working on a way of getting them back to you. Stay tuned on that front!
  25.
