It's both a good day and a sad day today. The incredibly good news is that the world's #1 Resource in Sonic the Hedgehog, The Sonic Stadium, has opened its doors once more. The very sad news is that Sonic_Hedgehogs, the guy responsible for Sonic News and one of the most influential Sonic News reporters online, has officially quit TSS, and consequentially Sonic News.
There are many reasons of S_H leaving, when he was talking to me about it. The official reason is project work. Sonic_Hedgehogs has other commitments from his alternative websites Die Hard Fan and Terminator Fan, and is planning many other sites, one of which involves a mix of Fantasy related themes.
S_H (or Mr H, as he was sometimes known as), real life name Andrew P, started off Sonic News as a solo website that was more news orientated. He gained a lot of fans from his website, and was the very first winner of The Sonic Site Awards, when Sonic News won the top prize at the SSA 2001.
Since then, things went up for Sonic News - one of these steps upward was merging Sonic News with The Sonic Stadium back in mid-2002 to create SSNG (the Sonic Stadium News Group). When that lasted merely 2 weeks, Sonic_Hedgehogs left temporarily and I rebuilt TSS from the ground up - Andrew later helped incorporate Sonic News into The Sonic Stadium.
For the last 8/9 months, Sonic News has continued to be the best source in news information of Sonic you can find, and was much quicker than more popular websites. His leaving will no doubt be sad for all of us.
Sonic_Hedgehogs wasn't available to leave an official statement for you all, but I'll pass on any messages you have for his departure. To send S_H a message, contact Dreadknux so I can pass them on, or you can head to Sonic Stadium Message Board, where you can post any goodbye messages you may have.
As for Sonic News itself at TSS, well it's been given a new look to incorporate TSS' layout, and will soon be run by a team of newscasters. I will be looking for people who are interested in becoming part of the Sonic News team very soon. SOON, I said, so don't email me about the position just yet, OK?
Finally, we thank Andrew P for his incredible contribution to the Sonic Online Community with Sonic News. It was surely Sonic News that kick-started the Sonic Fan News 'industry', so he should be highly commended, and can leave proud that he has made a difference in the Sonic Community.
All of us at The Sonic Stadium wish Andrew all the best in any and all future endeavours he attempts - no doubt he will make as big an impact as he has in this community already.
Andrew P, we salute you.
