SEGA Celebrates Sonic's Birthday in Style With June 2023's Sonic Pict

It's time to party! Because it's Sonic the Hedgehog's birthday today! SEGA Japan has marked the occasion by sharing the latest artwork in its Sonic Pict series. And as you'd expect, the focus is on the birthday boy himself.

Staging a massive concert in the middle of Studiopolis Zone, Sonic is truly king for the day. And you can see many Sonic characters in the audience celebrating with him - Tails, Amy, Mighty and Ray are all rocking glowsticks and raving out with the blue blur.

SEGA Japan released this artwork with the following message (machine translated):

To thank you for always celebrating with us, we will perform a lively performance

  This is absolutely preferable to the other pre-order bonuses. The acrylic stand from GAME is tacky, and the skins from Amazon are whatever. But I love these pin badges. Thanks for the heads up!

  Honestly, established names like Metal Sonic, Metal Knuckles, Tails Doll should've been separate characters. I like the idea of picking Metal Sonic's head and torso and giving him an engine skirt, but whole characters should've been their own characters I guess. You know... Looking at Superstars' Green Hill Zone... I... actually kinda dig it???? Would it be too much to ask for a Sonic remake like that?

  I'm sure this is the only reason. Commitment to some degree of "Metal parity" between all of the characters. I just think it's a shame to see him pushed aside at the first real chance at a come back since 1997, in favour of a much more vanilla Metal Tails. They brought back Metal Knuckles, but not Tails Doll.
