  • Knuckles Paramount Series Premieres April 26, Trailer Out Now

"I do not make jokes, I make warriors."

Though announced to premiere during the Super Bowl, we've got our Knuckles series trailer and the premiere date early! The six-episode series will be available on Paramount Plus on April 26 in the U.S. and Canada, April 27 in other regions, and "later in the year" in Japan. Check it out below:

Building off of the previously revealed premise of Knuckles training Wade, the series appears to follow a restless Knuckles who can't quite shed his warrior's passion, traveling with Wade as they take on bikers, secret agents, mad inventors, and an entire bag of Doritos.

Unsurprisingly, the trailer is stuffed with references and surprise appearances, from Knuckles' previously revealed OVA hat, to the spinning goal post, to... Pachacamac working in a bowling alley? What?

The series definitely promises to be a mix of action and goofy, irreverent humor much as the movies were, but Idris Elba's Knuckles brings a different spirit to the lead character role compared to Ben Schwartz' Sonic. That said, both Sonic and Tails will make an appearance in the series, as does Tika Sumpter's Maddie. There's no indication that Jim Carrey's Robotnik will appear in this series, but his spirit looms over the story as at least one antagonist will have connection to Robotnik, perhaps a protege, employee, or supplier.

Finally, Paramount revealed an official poster for the series. It won't tell you about the series, but if you want a detailed look at glove stitching, or just really need to look at Knuckles' shins.

I wonder what day this is gonna release to the UK version of Paramount Plus considering that it's coming to the US Paramount Plus April 26.

It’s already out and connected to apple and Amazon services though separate from their subscriptions

Don't know what to think of the villain until I actually watch the show. But from what I can tell, he has virtually no connection to the games. Just sayin', there are other game villains besides Eggman himself:

Thats just an older Eggman having a mid-life crisis and trying to look trendy.

I mean, one, he doesn't really show up until the Rush series, and we're not quite close enough to that yet. And two, they'd have to find a way to work around the fact that the name "Eggman Nega" did not localize well in the slightest.

Oh my God. Knuckles with a motorcycle and the OVA hat. I'm already sold.

    Storyboard spoilers:

    Spoiler

REALLY hoping that those guys with the mechs aren't gonna be the movie universe's version of the Black Arms, given what we saw in the leaks.

Yeah, I'm aware of the timeline part. Cuz he doesn't actually show up until Blaze is introduced. Mainly mentioned him 'cause he's a descendant of Eggman, which brings in the whole time-travel aspect. Which then leads to Silver...

Okay, now I'm realizing how much more complex everything would've gotten if they had gone with him. So in hindsight I should've thought about all that...and the localization bit.

For a future film maybe, but not Sonic Movie 3 & Knuckles.

The real issue with Dr. Nega is his motivation and that unlike Ivo, Dr. Nega will do anything to remove Eggman's stain on the family reputation, even if that means he and everyone else will cease to exist. Hes a Omnicidal Maniac.  Dr. Robotnik as of now is presumed to be dead and Dr. Nega is not the type of villain you'd use for a comical Knuckles show.

See, that's the thing. Eggman Nega isn't a villain I'm familiar with, as I only played Rivals 2. But even then I barely remember the story, it's been so long. I know he exists in the PSP & DS games, and that he's from the future. That's basically it, had no idea about any of his motivations.

While you guys debate on Eggman Nega I'll be calling the older gentle man Julian until further notice. :b

Villian does seem to fit the bill for grimer.

Pachamamac and daughter being alive would give the movieverse a way to cheat with echidna mentor and female echidna without setting off you-know-who.

Would Sonic flirt with Knuckles's sister?

The truth is that it seems that the series will have a lot of humor and some serious moments as we already know how the Sonic industry is managed, the truth is it looks very good, I hope it is a success and they give us many references and a good plot for our favorite enchilada.

I'm not really sold on the fill-in baddies. Eggman (in any incarnation) isn't the type to allow others access to his mechs and bots without supervision; even if they work for him. The only person he really trusts is himself! 😤

But man, if Jakks comes out with a deluxe figure set with Knuckles wearing his OVA hat and a motorcycle, that'd be DA BOMB! 🤩

I was first introduced to Pachacamac and Tikal through Sonic X. If not a hallucination, this could give me a new comedic view of the serious character. But if I see Tikal when I watch it, I just might lose it! Love her!!! :)

Finally saw this trailer and I LOVED IT!  I never thought that this trailer would have so much humor and action at the same time!  I'm actually much more interested in checking out this series (although I don't have Paramount Plus at the moment).

I think my favorite part might be Knuckles turning the living room into a battle arena to pit the dog against the mailman.

For real. Knuckles being completely culturally unaware, and substituting that with what he knows about the Echidna’s way, is always a recipe for good humor!

Yeah, he's definitely got some culture shock going on there. You could be arrested for this, Knux!
