Sonic Superstars Website Adds New Art and Character Profiles

Trip is a g-g-g-g "gulp" girl!? didn't know that.

These renders are super clean tho. So was that Fang / Nack name change too.

Neat idea to have each of them shown holding one of the Chaos Emeralds, emphasising the emeralds' importance and, in this entry, individuality.

So Fang is now Fang the Hunter; I had a feeling that "Sniper" wouldn't stand, but this works for me, and they even managed to provide a fitting canonical explanation for his multiple previous names and titles.  Trip is a female character, I can see why we'd be getting more of them; and her story is... that she's basically a less threatening Knuckles?  This all feels like natural set-up for her being an unlockable playable character, and I look forward to seeing what she can do.

Fang's name change/confirmation has handled in the best way possible. It doesn't retcon that he was once called "Nack the Weasel", and instead rewrites it so that he has gone by different names because of his criminal status. That's really clever, and it even explains the confusion over his species. I'm a little disappointed about the decision to change "Sniper" to "Hunter" if only because the former rolls off the tongue better, but it's obvious enough why they changed that. 

And Trip is a girl. Didn't see that coming.

The character renders are gorgeous. They're really a ton more expressive than we're used to seeing in official art. 

Unless I'm forgetting something we don't ever see Fang doing any sniping in the games, so the name change makes sense.

So Trip is an animal. I assumed she was just some robot Eggman cooked up that wasn't very good at its job (kind of reminded me of D-Fekt from Fire & Ice.)

Color me interested now, I wonder what animal she'll be.

Also love the renders. Super nice looking and with some personality to them. I hope we can get more than just these, I'd love to see some different posing.

I don't know why but I instinctively assumed Trip was female from the very beginning... 

Also, when this game comes out, people will extract Fang's model and he will FINALLY be playable in All-Stars Racing Transformed! 

I'm loving the art for Sonic Superstars here It's reminding me of the vibes of the old Sonic games just like the olden days how I remember playing the games on the Sega Mega Drive. And It's great to see Fang again as well.

Looking at Trip's render now, the fact that she's a girl has been staring at us all along. She's wearing clothing below the waist. Remember Sega's style guide?
