  • Classic Sonic, Tails, Knuckles & Amy to Join Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble as DLC

    Super Monkey Ball Banana Superstars

Following on from his appearances in Banana Blitz HD and Banana Mania, Sonic will once again be returning to the upcoming Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble. However, this time, he's got all the classic crew with him: Tails, Knuckles, and Amy, as part of the game's DLC.

Banana Mania introduced a number of new SEGA crossover characters, including Kiryu, Beat, Morgana, and even inanimate SEGA consoles for some reason. Banana Rumble seems to be leaning even harder into it, with a multiplayer focus, plenty of skins for your monkey, and the "SEGA Pass" available in the game's Digital Deluxe version. The SEGA Pass promises six total characters (and some costumes), thus only two remain unannounced.

Banana Rumble is set to launch later this month on June 25th as a Nintendo Switch exclusive.

He's practically a regular in the series at this point. He and Tails were in the opening to the last Monkey Ball game.

But I do appreciate that they keep upping the ante with each installment. They doubled the cameo cast of Sonic and it does suggest other Sega characters will also be playable.

Okay, with all the praise done. Sega? You could've included Trip as some cross promotional thing, maybe? I'm also somewhat disappointed that they aren't keeping the tradition of Sonic being free since he was in the previous two titles. The only question remains on price and content. They call it a Sega Pass so it makes you expect other franchises.
