Sonic Colours HD

I'd love to have it for the HD consoles.

Though I'd prefer it if they made some changes to make it looks snazzy on the PS3 and 360, so that it didn't just look like an upscaled Wii game, and so it actually looked like a proper HD game.

With all things considered though, if they did make a port, it wouldn't be done up, this is SEGA after all.

Also, I'd like to mention that the titled will be bawwed at and called "GAY" by the average 9-year-old FPS douchebag.

It would be wise if they renamed it to something a little less....you know (just for the HD consoles mind, the current title is perfectly fine on the Wii).

EDIT: Post number 100 in this thread YAY

Why do you think of all PS3/360 gamers as some kind of testosterone-driven asshole? Surely anybody who would have a problem with the name of the game wouldn't be interested in a cute platform game anyway.

Note:

I don't mean to stereotype, and in retrospect I should have mentioned that.

It may have a fair amount of success on the PS3 given the popularity of LBP and Ratchet and Clank, but there is no getting past "Reach for the stars".

That song whilst cute, is by far the cheesiest thing I've ever hear. Its not even cheesy in a good way like Escape from the City, its just....weird.

I assure you, people will be turned off the game, for the fear of somebody might end up overhearing them playing the game.

You act like there's no such thing as a guilty pleasure. Games don't have to be hardcore 24/7 in order to appeal to the PS360 market.

The mute button is right there if you need it anyway *cough*SonicHeroes*cough*

Note that I mentioned Escape from the city. My personal favorite guilty pleasure. Reach for the stars?......not so much.

Not that I don't like the idea, but I just don't think SEGA will do it.

Probably because they don't think it will sell well.

Arghh forget it.

Yes I would like to see Colours HD.

Will it happen? Probably not.

Well, they are listening to the fans now, so they claim. Why not a letter to SEGA?

Because letters will literally not do anything at this point?

Indeed. By the time a letter makes it to SoJ, the game would probably already have been released.

By the time it makes it to anyone important in SoJ the game will be released, and have two sequels, with the last one being split into two disks and have a lock-on using save files.

Which would be amazing, might I add.

Oh well, lol

I thought, you know, people are doing this thing with getting nights re-released next year, thought it'd be the same.

NiD15 is something different, though. They're asking for a port of a 15 year old game to the download services of the consoles with a petition. They even have support from some developers (I'm pretty sure S0L and I think either Yuji Naka or Iizuka....).

Their request is much more reasonable then a Sonic Colors HD too. Less danger of making losses.

I don't think there is much risk of making loss if they just port Sonic Colors without making any changes aside from the output resolution. I don't know if that would be a good idea, but it should be cheap to make.

Am I the only PS3 owner that does not really care for graphics? The only thing that I hate is that we always get a damn 360 port and yet have to pay more for the damn game, but that is justifiable. Really, I do not like most FPS shooters. I do not own Killzone and have no intention of getting it. I rented Resistance for my older brother and did not play it. I loved the shit out of Ratchet and Clank and have openly pimped it. Really, my area of taste is so outward, its ridiculous. Not all HD owners are teenagers and not all HD games are geared for grown ups. Really? I don't know why this game does not have a HD port, but I hope, like "I am on my knees, praying to an omniscient being" hope, that we get it in some form on the HD consoles. I mean seriously? This game looks amazing and the gameplay is tops.

No. And thats been my whole stance on this all along. The game looks fine as it is, just port the thing and let us play it.

I seem to remember not very long ago when the new consoles were all announced and the Wii showed off it's motion control, every single person on here who said they were getting a Wii and who supported it before it was even launched said "Well it's got motion controls! So thats what makes it stand out, thats what makes it a better multiformat title!" Fine, you can have that, just give us a normal version of the game to play.

I can understand why this is a Wii exclusive though. It may lack the necessary motion controls to justify its stay, but this is the storybook team after all; let's them work with what they know best. I have no idea how hard it would be to port it in the first place, but I don't think that squad has much familiarity with the HD systems, so lets keep them in their comfort zones and move on with our lives.

Personaly, I'd point this pent up ire toward Free Riders, which attacks a much smaller audience. The website gave us a mouse control option, why cant the game support controller play?

The only reason it's Wii exclusive is because it can be low budget and take advantage of the kiddies who bought Mario & Sonic.

Yes, I'd be happy for a straight up HD up-port of this, like I've suggested many times before, and shown examples of games which have been ported in the same way and look amazing.

I'm a PS3 gamer and I'm not nuts about graphics either - but I don't like the nasty pixels when I play the Wii. I think Sonic Adventure, a Dreamcast game, on PSN looks better than most Wii games on my HDTV. Wii games just look really, really bad on it and when you can play old games like Sonic Adventure in HD but Wii games have those pixels it seems like a real waste.

My Wii games look great on my TV. It's a 42" LCD. Also I think it's funny how you have such a huge problem with something so simple as not being able to play Colors in HD, but you are the first person to jump on anyone when they have actual gameplay complaints about Sonic 4.

How do these correlate? One is a general concern and the other is simple nitpicking or dealing with excessive bitching over minor details. Not everybody has a LCD TV or a Wii or both so they won't be able to play the game. The fact is that it is excluded from a large audience who, from this thread alone, seem to be genuinely interested in this game. You need to read the topic post as in it merely suggests the game for HD, and I assure you that most people who are for Sonic Colors in HD in this thread wouldn't mind if they got the same exact elements of this game under a different title.

Who are you referring to, anyways.

I can just imagine Sonic Colors on 360. Achievments, leaderboards, avatar awards, online multiplayer, DLC, I could go on.

What is this 'huge problem'? Why are the Wii brigade taking this topic as some kind of uber bitch fest? I'm just talking about how it'd be nice to have it in HD, and explaining why I don't like to play games on the Wii as much, because the graphics look like ass to me on my TV when I'm used to PS3 and Blu-Ray. When was this ever a 'huge problem'? I don't get jumped on when I say I'd like certain movies to come out on Blu-Ray, how is this any different?

And what does Sonic 4 have to do with this at all? And who did I jump on? I expressed how I felt 'people' were about the game, I never singled anybody out.

^ Don't anybody click that link. It's obscene shit-porn. I've reported the post.

EDIT: Erm... Could we remove this post since the post it was referring to was deleted? This just looks odd now.

I completely agree with the OP. I've recently had a new home theatre system installed and playing Wii games on a 2.4m screen is really quite grating. Even with the component cable, at that size the resolution is so bad it completely distracts me from the game and I find it hard to play without always noticing the picture quality. I agree that graphics don't make the game, but there's a difference between low poly count and giant pixels. I've tried upscaling as well, which also doesn't help much (just makes it fuzzy). If you do the maths yourself, the Wii's highest resolution is 576i. 240cm/720 gives you pixels 3mm wide...draw yourself a 3mm x 3mm square and stand six feet away from it and you can see just how big the individual pixels appear.

I can still play it on my 52" screen fine, so it's not a disaster or anything, but it's just disappointing not to be able to experience that same sense of immersion playing on a cinema screen, especially for a game as beautiful as Colours.

I get that people with our problem are a REALLY tiny proportion of the people buying this game so I feel zero negativity towards SEGA for not releasing Colours on a HD platform. I understand that Sonic's audience on Wii is quite different to PS360, and the HD consoles are a lot more expensive to develop for (though I find it hard to imagine a pure port would really be that costly). There's also a possibility that the PS360 team are busy with the 20th Anniversary game, or that Nintendo specifically wanted this as an exclusive since Sonic sells really well.

So yeah, it's no big deal, a HD version would just be really nice. Until then, as has already been mentioned I can always emulate the game.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who sees it (or doesn't sing 'la la la' and pretend there's nothing wrong with it). I guess I'm quite close to my HDTV too so the pixels and fuzz are pretty apparent, but I mean, it's ugly to play 640x480 even on a 15" PC monitor, and you'd have been laughed at for it by tech junkies, like a good 10 years ago even, let alone today on an HDTV.

Of course I'm going to play this on the Wii, it's just a shame it's limited to that, but as you say, the 2011 game is probably an HD one and this is probably the replacement for the storybook series, what Secret Rings was to Unleashed I guess.
