Some folks at the SEGA Forums are having trouble viewing both pages too for some reason.

That's because we're not from the "right" countries. As I mentioned earlier, I've never been able to see either page.

Well my favorites didn't win the grand prize, but congrates to the winners anyway, I can see that you guys put a lot of effort into your entries. :) Oh and congrates to Dreadknux on winning the Ipod Touch :).

SEGA haven't forgotten the other 100 winners, here's a post in the comments at the Blognik by SOA's Clumsyorchid -

100 Winners will be announced at a later date. Given the voting irregularities we felt the best thing to do was to focus on the top 3 per each region.

Well, the contest has long since ended now so this is pretty pointless, but I'd like to share the newspaper article I managed to have featured in the newspaper today! I had thought they scrapped the article and weren't going to publish it, but today I was told I had made it into the paper! Here's a scan of the article and here's the web page.

Even though I didn't get anything in the contest :) I now feel much more proud of what I achieved because of this.

Excuse the double post, but another publication has appeared today in a different newspaper, same article though, just different title. From what I understand both newspapers are owned by the same company, this edition appeared in the free newspaper that is handed out every week in the local area.

I am laughing loudly at the 'what next' brigade over at the comments to the news story on the website XD. Aparently you should have donated those clothes to Pakistan... Doing it a good month and a bit before the floods is no excuse!

Sonic Sez, newspaper comments are Noooo good...

Also the fact I still needed to hand all those clothes back to other people haha and then collect mine back up...wasn't ever getting rid of them.

If that's what Sonic sez, then I believe he's right.

Cool for the winners! It may sound like it stinks to go late and not get to be first to play it.

But between going to Japan and playing the game first, and going late and receiving tons of apology gifts, I'd go with the latter. I'd imagine SEGA would give a few bonus prizes (original concept art?) and clue them in to something Episode 2 related (concept art or a few cool facts).

Inb4 TSSZ makes pointless article about it XDDD

Well they don't get to play the new build first but at least they are getting an awesome trip to japan and talk to the guys who made the game and even get to see concept art for Episode 2, I hope they have a great time there =).

Looks like the late trip was the choice of the winners:

The winners got to pick their own travel dates, actually. Getting to visit in August / September didn't work for our groups, so we let them choose when they'd like to go, as long as they were cool with understanding that Sonic 4 would be out by then.

Our US winners will probably be going soon too - we'll post lots of pics!

The coolest part of the prize really is the free trip to Japan, though - and our winners will still be getting to visit SEGA of Japan, and to go behind-closed-doors where you need SEGA security passes to visit. :)

U.S. winners have finally headed to Japan

Posted Saturday March 5th at the SEGA Forums by RubyEclipse:

This Sunday, the US winners of the Sonic 4 Birthday Competition will be heading off to Tokyo!

As we head to Japan, we'll be blogging each day about our trip, the adventures around Tokyo, and our visit to SEGA HQ.

If you guys have any thoughts, recommendations on things to see, etc, please feel free to drop a line here.

Talk to you soon! :)

I thought the UK guys chose a late time to go in November, but the U.S. guys sure picked an extremely late date. The contest let these people play Sonic 4: Episode 1 before anyone else, but I guess none of the winners could make it to Japan before the game's release. I wonder if the U.S. winners will get to see some of Episode 2 or any other Sonic games on the way.

If they are going to actually meet Sonic Team and go onto the dev floor (although I imagine it'll be a conference room). There is no way they won't see some new stuff, even if it's just by accident and they don't know what it is they're looking at.

Mind you, I bet you 20p if they do go onto the dev floor they'll sign embargos.

Basically what Hogfather said. If you're going to the doors of the development studio which are likely hard at work on multiple projects are being developed and the studio is being hush-hush about it, it's basically inevitable they'll see something. I remember from a 2005 video what Sonic Team Japan's offices looked like. Now, assuming it hasn't gone in a complete overhaul since 5 years ago, it's actually fairly small and I remember the office have very big sliding doors with developer computers everywhere, even in the conference room along with concept art and everything hanging everywhere (and they had a room based off of all the main Sonic characters). This video was taken during the development of Heroes but was released after Heroes and all that had been out for a year. While they might of changed the layout some I don't think they've changed buildings or anything so they more than likely are going to see something.

However, they almost likely will have to sign embargo slips as well. I guess their reward for having to wait so long is that they'll be going to the offices when their hard at work on stuff none of us know anything about.

Woah that's weird that they've only just gone! It feels like this comp' was eons ago!

Even weirder to go somewhere and experience such a massive earthquake, that must've been so scary! At least they're ok!
