Not necessarily, even if I judge it only by its own merits I don't think its that great of a show, just OK. The main gimmick of having the people you know and care about shattered like a mirror into multiple pieces of themselves could've been very interesting character writing, with each shard really playing into a aspect of the character's personality. Instead we get wacky stereotypes pretending they're Sonic characters for the most part. The exception of course being New Yoke which seems to have the most effort put in to from any shard. Too bad the Chaos Council suck as villains, (they can't even build their own Metal Sonic) its no wonder the writers had Nine replace them as the main villain.

To balance this out with some more positives. while I don't like this version of Sonic, I do like his voice especially the stuff done on the guy's own time. Hes better than Roger IMO. The animation is good, I appreciate Ian requesting to get Gamma (the pink flicky) into the show and them listening (though they mix him up with the bird's sibling that was with Amy) and if nothing else this show should commended for its depiction of Shadow. Its the best hes been written in awhile.

Okay, I can agree with most of the points here.

But that's not what I was arguing against. My point was that Prime being (in theory) canonical to the games has a very small effect on its overall quality.

I absolutely agree it's a flawed show, but the questionable connection to the games is at the very bottom of its problems.

I head-canon that something fierce with this show.

Rusty is a reflection of Amy with her loyalty removed

Dread's one-track obsession with the shard is the exaggeration of his devotion to the Master Emerald.

Nine is Tails without his trust in anyone else

Thorn is Amy with her compassion cranked too high

Mangy lacks intelligence to the point that he's feral

Gnarley and Renegade are two ends of Knux's paranoia spectrum

ect...

There was a ton of deep dive potential here. Sonic still has a chance to tap into some of it, considering the last stretch of Season 3 will likely involve him rallying the troops for the final battle.

Not if you're invested into the continuity as I am, for one thing it amplifies Prime's own problems. For instance, the characterization for everyone but Shadow comes off even worse than it would otherwise and things you would allow the show to get away with normally because its not the main verse now become outright problems. Then you have the whole factor of not being given something you were promised, while also defacing the thing you actually wanted in the first place. It invites ire towards the show that wouldn't be there if it wasn't canon

Funny, isn't Prime Shadow characterization completely different than in recent games, AKA better? Or like with IDW, you see it as "restoring original characterization?"

Just want to make sure. Are you complaining
A.) "I don't like Prime Sonic characterization"
B.) "I don't like that Prime Sonic characterization doesn't match games, despite their promises"

I'm assuming you mean both. In that case.
A. is valid opinion I can respect.
B. I already advised to "assume whoever made that statement was wrong and Prime is NOT part of games".

unless you're saying
C.) "If I followed your advice, then Prime becomes even worse as standalone"
in which case I need elaboration and more specific examples.

More like with IDW, if you are going back to how something is written in it's prime (pun not intended) instead of doing a new, yet better direction it counts as a restoration. You're assumption is correct, though the problem with B is it wasn't just the Prime guys saying it. As inconsistencies kept on piling up other people asked about Ian Flynn about it on his show the Bumblekast. Ian replied it is indeed canon and that to wait til season 3 as that would somehow explain it and that couldn't he say more.

Then I guess we'll learn in few days how things "connect".

I just remember when Sega said "Two Worlds is a thing" which was incredibly stupid, so I just ignored it. As long as any game itself didn't give me solid proof, it worked fine, even before Two Worlds was uncanonized.

Huh, you know what I did the same with that and the Classic universe Forces retcon as both were too continuity breaking to take seriously and both were indeed fixed in the end with SEGA being rededicated to keeping up the continuity. You're right, I'm probably making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Problems like that definitely still count are problems (otherwise fandom wouldn't collectively complain about Two Worlds or Classic/Modern split), but just ignoring them is easier than it looks at first.
