SEGA released a new episode of TailsTube today, and while it's a pretty light on lore this time around, it makes up for it with some cute writing and surprise guests! Check it out:

There isn't much to say about this one, though it is nice seeing more aspects of IDW directly acknowledged by the characters in videos meant to help straighten out or re-establish game lore.

This one's light on lore outside of some name drops, but the name of the game is having a good time!

Ohhhhh it was such a delight to watch! A little shame about Shadow appearing only at the beginning and end, but...

SHADOW WITH A SCARF HE'S TOO CUTE AAAAAAAHHHHH

And so you think Scrooge the Hedgehog was a reference to Scourge?!

Shadow could been way better (sigh, but also worse) and Eggman's gift started funny, only for the punchline to not needlessly drag out. Other than that, I really enjoyed it.

I mean, holy cow, Rouge stole Master Emerald. Her favorite hobby... that she performed only twice. Thrice now.

This was excellent. I love the Frenemy dynamic between Eggman and Tails. I wish they would do more stuff together!

That was great. I want more of the gang just hanging out like this.

Some highlights for me:

  • Don Fachio mentioned! Nice to see other humans acknowledged. Now we just need them to appear directly onscreen! Come on Sega, you can do it!
  • Rouge actually doing something villainous is refreshing. I always thought she was at her best when she's stealing and scheming.
  • Eggman's whole bit was really sweet. I really like the kind of fondness and respect he has for Tails here, and I was really glad to hear Sage mentioned too even if she didn't appear.

All in all, a great holiday present!

This was fun all around, nice Holiday gift! Definitely did NOT expect Team Dark, as well as Eggman and Orbot and all the mentions, they got 9 characters and 8 voice actors just for cameos which is impressive! Roger voices Omega, while the rest is the current VA.

> Sonic replaces Amy's photo from the gift... that's so in-character and so sad for Amy

> Omega gifts Amy a smashed robot... also checks out

> I don't mind Shadow, he's definitely "Scrooge" but he also has fun moments

> Rouge steals the ME, lmao, this was the funniest IMO, also top contender is Tails using the coupon against Eggman

> So they mentioned: Angel Island, Vector, Cream and Chao's, Unleashed's chili dog seller, Jewel, the Restoration (!), Gamma and Sage. That's a lot of references, I'm so glad they mentioned IDW stuff and I hope they keep doing these little bits of lore and cohesiveness between canon.

Nothing interesting this Time except maybe the mention of Jewel...

By the way, do we know exactly when all the games released after SONIC FORCES take place in the comics?!...

I don't think it really matters for the story actually, just know it's after Forces. Maybe a few cameos and mentions can tell.

Oh, and I found that release date doesn't match the time events happen sometimes. Like Sonic Battle. Just so you know.

Too wholesome.

idk, it could be, but I think he's referring to Ebenezer Scrooge from A Christmas Carol, but still, who knows?

That picture frame swap was pretty coldblooded. I was about to say it was a bit excessive, but the photo they replaced it was so great that I immediately withdrew my criticism.

Omega continues to be a gold mine. His bloodlust is such a fun tangent for the main cast. Also, Rouge gifting something to herself is so on brand that it almost outshines what she gifted to herself. Love it.

Fun little thing. Not many lure implications, beyond further erasing the line between the games and IDW.

I can't believe Rouge gifted herself with the Master Emerald. So fitting yet so wrong! (I mean Angel Island is falling again... somewhere!)

I figured Omega sounded a bit off, Roger was voicing him.

I don't think so considering how...possessive that man is over base concepts he had no hand in creating.

The 30th Anniversary Special (aka the first Classic Era adventure) was stated to take place after Mania. The main comic all takes place after Forces (with Team Sonic Racing takeing place sometime in the time frame of after the Metal Virus Saga but before issue 43) but before Frontiers as of currently. Ian said he wants to some sort of passage of time when the comic is finally allowed to use Sage.

As for the things I noticed,
* We FINALLY have a human sighting besides Ivo! Cmon Sega let us have human NPCs again, the comic is suffering currently for it as it hurts the world building. You don't need to have named humans, just background people.

* Couple this with the Winter Jam and unlike Shadow, Omega seems to have somewhat accepted the bonds of friendship?

* And of course the further proof that IDW is indeed canon.

By the way, does anybody know if Jewel and the Restauration are mentioned in the Japanese version of this new episode of TAILS' TUBE?!...

I still feel like SEGA did not fix the international cannon because of Sticks and Tangle in FRONTIERS for instance...

Well only Sticks was removed in the Japanese script of Frontiers, which is odd considering it was the Sonic Channel version of her that was used in the first place.

This is getting off-topic, but I find that comic amusing because maybe Sticks should be concerned about the effects of TV advertising convincing her to buy certain products.

I enjoyed this one quite a bit. My only real nitpick is Shadow’s interpretation. It could’ve been worse, but it could’ve been better. While I wouldn’t expect Shadow to be having a holy jolly Christmas, I feel like they pushed the edge factor a bit too far, as per the norm in recent years. Scrooge the hedgehog is an accurate nickname here.
I do have to say, Knuckles gifting Omega a rock and Omega loving it made me so happy and I’m not entirely sure why.

Overall, this was great and I’m glad that Sega is doing stuff like this.

What a good episode! I love seeing the cast having down time to hang out with each other like this. The gifts were all unexpected but matched the characters well; I can't even choose a favorite one between Amy's picture frame, Omega's moto bug, and the Master Emerald...hah!

The highlight of this though was Team Dark. Rouge teasing Knuckles combined with Knuckles' inability to detect sarcasm was funny, as well as Omega being Omega. And honestly? I really loved Shadow's portrayal in this. He ran off early on, but was apparently near enough to hear the commotion and came running back...Seems he cares more than he lets on. (The scarf moment was sweet too)
