Spoiler

Twitter user @Pyoro_X, who’s known for leaking the upcoming 2D Mario game, Super Mario Wonder, has recently posted a picture with concept art of the original rabbit design that would later become Sonic the Hedgehog, as well as hinting that the release date for Sonic Superstars would be announced soon.

The first statement would align with what Brian Shea from Game Informer reported, when he mentioned customization options for head, torso, accessories and even saw an option labeled “prototype”. This “prototype” could easily be referring to Feels the Rabbit, the fan named rabbit which was the prototype design for Sonic the Hedgehog.

Considering that GamesCom’s Opening Night Live is happening today, with the promise of more Sonic Superstars info, it would be the perfect time for these announcements. So don’t forget to join us live today on YouTube and Twitch at 8p CET/7p BST/2p ET/11a PT as we confirm or dispel these rumors!

Looking forward to the live stream and more news on Sonic Superstars and potentially a release date of the game as well.

If so, the protype eggman skin needed too! (See below!)

Wait a minute, who the fuck is Feels?

"Feels" is the name of one of the characters that Naoto Oshima designed for what would eventually be Sonic the Hedgehog:

The story goes that the idea for the game was for the rabbit to use its ears to stretch and grab items and enemies. They of course didn't go with this, and the grabbing mechanic would go on to become Ristar.

Feels (or however they might name him if this is true) would be a plausible bonus character or costume, especially since Naoto Oshima himself is working on the game. Time will tell.

Or in a more Sonic-way: the Magic Hands upgrade in Sonic Adventure 2 (though without the stretching).

I think a better comparison is the Werehog, frankly.

Probably for the best that you take the spoiler out of the thread title, man.

Tried to make some hasty edits/clean up regarding potential announcement spoilers. In the future, when reporting on rumors regarding things like extras consider adding a spoiler warning and avoid namedropping the thing before it's formally announced. Thanks!
