Sonic the Hedgehog #62 - Reader Reaction & Review

What we have here are two simple stories

Knuckles and Amy is cute. They always worked of each other greatly. Amy is basically only character Knuckles is willing to ease off a little (life is hard when your actual love interest keeps trying to rob ya). Knuckles doesn't give much in return, but Amy thrives on helping people, so she's fine. And this issue is one of best examples of that. They aren't Sonic&Tails level of best buds, but they have this (non-romantic) bond.

Also I love a little detail that Knuckles doesn't remember supporting cast. It's nice acknowledgment of his solitude.

B-plot with Mimic... shrug, it's fine. Nothing special. I like Clutch's business plan, it's clever and unique from Casinos of older crime lords (Moggul, Breezie). A bit odd we're going back to Cutters already, but their previous arc barely counts as *theirs*, as the hedgehog trio did much more to save the day.
Mimic's duo act as Duo is least impressive. It's very... basic. Tangle is her adorable self, other than that eh. We'll see where it goes.

One thing I actively dislike are Duo's gloves. Don't tell me those suckers on his hands are visible? I was 137% sure it's something only we, the audience can see. That's absolutely pathetic if
1) Whisper never checked people by their hands
2) All this time he could just wear a gloves over it. Yes, it limits his options, but most people wear very similar gloves

Art is good, but no real highlights. And lack a lot of literal highlights, many pages don't have shading in this issue. It works better than in Bad Guys (Mimic looks AWFUL without shadows).

So in summary it's small bite, fun issue. Nothing bombastic, but after last 5-parter, maybe that's a good idea.

And now the important question: who are 6 people Knuckles trusts? We know Amy, it's save to assume Tails and Sonic (not that he'll admit it), so maybe Chaotix? Probably Silver or Blaze instead of Charmy, let's be real here.

I enjoyed reading this Issue myself I love the Marble Garden Zone reference from Sonic 3 on the front Cover A. New fresh story arc we are now In and It's going to be really Interesting to see what Mimic & Clutch are upto In this new partnership. Also I love seeing Amy & Knuckles here too and seeing Tangle & Whisper and Lanolin again In this Issue. Looking forward to next month's each Issue 2 August 2023.

Seeing Amy & Knuckles interacting is always a treat, and the art was great. Amy is so freaking cute in this.

Mimic is one of my favourite "IDW Originals", so I am glad to see him coming back, although, man, you could have chosen a different colour for your disguise. Great design though, love the gloves.

I really hope we get more of Knuckles, he's always been my favorite character and IDW's iteration of him is perfect.

I agree with you about the iteration of Knuckles he's perfect In the IDW Sonic comics.

Issue 62 was nice and kinda relaxing--just characters hanging out and talking about whatever is on the docket.

Neat to see another attempt at a Knuckles and Amy arc after Team Dark(or more specifically, Shadow) hijacked the last one before it could really be told.

Guess it's kinda neat to see Clutch and Mimic again, even if I personally don't care much for the latter. Their respective plans are actually pretty clever though--Clutch essentially being a Restoration for Hire is a fun little touch (while reminding me of Mac Payne 2 oddly enough) and Duo's characterization is actually pretty good, to the point I kinda wish they didn't reveal he was Mimic just yet.

Lanolin continues to be kinda hard in contrast to her previous characterization, even if the gag kinda had room to be funny.

Gotta say that the art was kinda spotty in two specific places--the very first page makes it a little unclear how/what Amy hit and you can tell that the artist isn't quite sure how to draw Clutch since his muzzle kinda melts in one panel in particular.

Gotta say I kinda lament not being able to comment on basically anything since Imposter Syndrome for a variety of reasons, so this was an easy way to kinda get back in on that.
