Sonic Deserves to Die?

So you're not a Sonic fan?

That's a hard question. Because standard of "fan" is vague.. but if I follow my standard, nope I think I'm Sonic fan.

You're not answering my question... yes or no?

I already edited my post On topic - To be honest, I think Sonic series should be abondoned rather than alive like zombie and be blamed as making another poor Sonic game (or become "Most trash franchise on game industry) I mean, Sonic series' reputation should be kept as abandoning(?) Sonic series.

I mean, Sonic series' reputation should be kept as abandoning(?) Sonic series.

You say this as though giving up is somehow a noble and couragous thing to to. Sega is absolutely capable of doing better, and they've shown as much before, so just hanging their head in defeat and dropping everything would ultimately be the coward's way out.

To hell with what the general public thinks. Sonic doesn't deserve defeatism - Sonic deserves better.

I've already said in my previous post that I gain nothing from the series' demise, so what exactly would you gain from it? If you don't like what the series currently is and don't think it can recover, you obviously have the choice to stop playing it's games or doing whatever connects you to the series. There's nothing wrong in moving on.

How are you still a Sonic fan?

You ask that as if negativity isn't what drives Sonic fans.

I don't see why any series should have to end just because some people don't like it.

Personally, within reason, I'd rather have SOMETHING than nothing. Unless the content is consistently very poor (which is certainly not true for Sonic) then cancelling it would I think be sloppy and counterproductive and I'd probably simply call clickbait on this video o.O

Oh God not this crap again.

Sega can't sell Sonic because he's their mascot. Imagine if McDonald sold Roland McDonald to Burger King, it would look ridiculous right ? Same applies here.

Of course...

That doesn't rule out somebody just flat out buying SEGA.

Highly unlikely since I don't think they'd want Sammy's baggage, but if Sammy's ever willing to part with the non-casino/arcade elements...

I mean, I'd prefer it. I really don't think Sonic's best with SEGA. They've had a decade plus to get things right and it's for the most part failure after failure.

As long as Sonic is profitable, he's a valid investment for Sega.
And most people who hate Sonic are either people who want him to be BETTER, ergo still see potential.
Or never had interest in any Sonic and just like to bully Sonic fans because they're easy targets.
LOL, look at the circus freaks LOL LOL.
Whatever. They were never going to be Customers for Sonic either way.
Just let them have their adorable sense of superiority.

So I don't see a point in killing Sonic, not until fans have abandoned him so badly that the games don't sell at all anymore.
Right now, he's still wanted by many.
And yes, last few Sonic games sold horribly, but there's several complications around it.
If the AAA Sonic team development group, who had been quiet since 2011, can whip out a shiny new Sonic game born from 5 years of labor, and release it on more systems, Sonic can still swing straight back to the top.

....
Although I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't consider the potential 2016 Sonic's game to be one of the last changes our blue hero has.

negativity =/= hate. You can express your dislike of something in the hope that they'll take that into account maybe and change something. Mentioning issues that you have with something in the hope of improvement is the opposite of hate.

Also so in regards to the Ronald McDonald comparison. Ronald is a trademark that is literally attached to McDonald's. Sonic is merely a IP that Sega constantly use to make money. There's an obvious difference. Sega could give Sonic up without needing themselves to be sold in the process. McDonald's WOULD need to be sold or merged if they were to sell Ronald.

and also his games were always just okay, maybe the graphics and technology behind it was advanced but other-wise the games were just another platformer in a sea of platformers. i think he should be shelved in favor of shadow or silver, at least they tried to stay relevant .

can't stop lol'ing

Also Sonic 2, Sonic 3&K, etc. are "just okay"? Really? I mean if you're not your taste, that's fine, but...seriously...Sonic used to be a video gaming legend. You think he was beloved for his graphics? Even someone as ignorant of video game history such as I knows better than that.

There are two different kind of "deserves." What do I mean by that? Let's do a hypothetical scenario here.

Little Timmy walks up to the edge of Death Canyon in Nowhere, USA. Timmy is 10 years old and understands that dozens of people have fallen off and died here since its creation as a national park. His friends shout for him to back away, but he won't listen and starts jumping around and teasing them. One friend says, "Timmy! You've fallen off of so many ledges lately! Don't you think you should stop taking stupid risks?! You're gonna get yourself killed!"

Sure enough, Timmy's reckless arrogance and failure to heed the advice of those who care about him pay their toll. He slips off the edge and falls to his death. Its worth noting that while he didn't listen to his friends, he had those friends for a reason. He was a cool kid. Plenty of charm, nice to hang around, so he had a lot of people who cared about him. He certainly didn't deserve to die, right?

However by being so incredibly careless, he earned his own death. He messed around and tempted fate when he knew he should have stayed safe and listened to his friends. None of them wanted him to die, but they warned him so many times and he still didn't listen. In that sense, he deserved what he got.

Not making sense? Okay, how about this:

Sonic the Hedgehog walks up to the edge of Death Canyon in Nowhere, USA...
