Oh okay. Been a while and to be honest, I've forgotten most of that lore aside from the obvious. On another note:

So, apparently they have some T-1000 skin or am I missing something?

And it seems those extensions are no longer called dreadlocks, but tentacles.

Am I expecting for those aliens to do something like this now? Hopefully those things don't have teeth...

...that probably gives a pass for their tails, if the tail is like a butt tentacle.  XD

Technically speaking, Flesh properly refers to the muscles while skin is in fact a separate organ, even if the terms are at times used interchangeably. "Makes my flesh crawl" and all that jazz. Granted I'm not sure how having stronger skin than muscle would work exactly even in the context of an alien organism, but given that Penders didn't seem to realize that vegetables fall under the umbrella of biological matter, I doubt he's put any thought into it either.

... also I'm slightly amazed it took him this long to just call them tentacles.

Thank you for the clarification on that, horridus!

And now he is moving to another panel with the Borg Alien there:

So yeah, looks like he will no longer be inking any more of his pages. Definitely going to be some inconsistency if he inked others already...

And more progress on the panel here. Seems he is more motivated than before to get this *insert name of what TLSC is supposed to be* done...

…if he gets it done, that is.

And regarding the "not final" background he is using there, it looks kind of familiar, like a desktop background? Thoughts?

Also, this character and her pose kind of looks like she's trying to provide technical assistance too rather than be a "villain", if that is what she is supposed to be, but that's just me...

I think this was already covered before at some point, but commenting on the first two, maybe for the Sukini or tentacle fun?

EDIT: Adding follow-up tweets.

Sounds like he's trying to move out of Twitter again...

Ken... fella... the 'Mature Audiences' label is reserved for works aimed at people who are at least eighteen years old, not thirteen. Media made for ages 13 and up don't come with 'mature' warnings. That's what PG-13 and Rated T for Teen is for. Like, I'm a little stunned here- you'd think a guy who obsesses over Media so much would be able to make that distinction. Granted, given how fundamentally childish and immature his writing and view of the world is, maybe it doesn't make any real tangible difference... this is a guy saw it as acceptable to include rape-by-deception in a kid's book and claims his facile attempts to tackle subjects like Fascism are 'mature'.

And yeah, Ken, it's JUST the Republicans and Evangelicals who'd have a problem with what you make. Never mind that you didn't mind taking their money when you licensed that stupid Scourge book that never went anywhere, and never mind that you cheerfully decided to turn Knuckles into a blatant stand-in for Jesus, to say nothing of your omnipresent "Father Knows Best" crap actively courting those demographics. Given that you badly wished to include a teenager being deflowered by a grown man in Sonic, God only knows what you're planning to include in this mess, and but I get the feeling it ain't gonna just be the people you're already opposed to who give you shit for it.

Someone responding to his tweets mentioned that the tentacles were used for reproduction, and Ken never corrected them.  That's...oh lord, poor Knuckles.  XD

Nah, he went silent on the matter because he likely took the guy as a troll. See, while an utterly hideous thought? Head-Tentacles as a factor in reproduction would be far, far too alien for Ken's taste, and we both know that despite how much he tries to insist that these characters aren't human? Functionally they're just humans with a new coat of paint. Any 'alienness' to them is due to him being bad at writing people convincingly rather than purposeful examination of non-human species or even a culture that's radically different from the norms of his own.

Makes sense.  Speaking of creepiness though?  Gotta love how his last tweet was about how kids as young as 13 can look at porn on the sly, and then he’s silent for two days.

Ken sure is a tone deaf mofo.  🙃

"I'M not the weirdo, YOU ARE!"

I'd ask if he comprehends that R-Rated films and Porno are not intended for and are not marketed towards 13 year olds hence why they need to SNEAK about to do such things, but at this rate it'd be redundant. Once again I am left wondering where this man grew up and how he functions when it seems like he doesn't have any intuitive understanding of the social norms that shape this country in even the most abstract sense.

He does know that when something is labeled as "MATURE," that means that it's for an R rated audience, who are 18 and up, right?  I mean, when something is rated PG-13, sure it does have edgier content than a PG rated movie does.  But, it's nowhere near as edgy as an R rated film and whole families can still watch a PG-13 movie.

He's being deliberately obtuse. I think at this point he's purposefully trying to cultivate controversy so he can try and paint himself as some kind of 'brave' writer standing up against The Usual People. Its about the only thing he really has left to draw any kind of attention at all to this idiot project of his.

He does this every time he wants attention.  The creeepy thing is that he ALWAYS brings up the subject of “hey, it’s okay to be underage and do THIS”.  He’s playing the pedo card more and more and it’s really getting unsettling.

Not only that, what is this comic even going to show that’s so “edgy”?  It’s just one big talking head story.

And his response to Lien-Da's design and his opinion on how it should be (tweet barrage away):

Guessing he prefers her current design and her, what was the term again, "diva-ousness?"

It's somewhat comforting to know that almost twenty years after he left the book, he's STILL aggrieved over the fact that neither Bollers nor Flynn would indulge his fantasy of where his characters stood within the book's hierarchy of character importance.

Boy though, if ever you needed concrete evidence of how he saw this as HIS book that everyone else was intruding upon...

Glad to know Ken likes his characters as two dimensional as they get, and demands sexiness as a priority.

Ugh, does this man ever listen to himself?  I swear he’s getting creepier.

I'm still coming to terms with the fact that he thinks the current design he has for Lien-Da is in any way sexy. Which is kind of funny given that when he first unveiled it, people repeatedly called it out as being creepy for the wrong reasons, and he tried to insist that the design was MEANT to be creepy because she's a bad guy.

Yeah, I don't think creepy and sexy mix too well with each other, especially those designs. What was the term he used for her? "Diva-ous" or something like that?

Anyway, "update":

Looks jumbled and inconsistent as always, and I am convinced his "sexy villainess" is more of a technical assistant than an actual antagonist. And I will admit that I have not read his 25YL run in a while, but I don't remember her being portrayed as a "strong, take-no-prisoners attitude baddie."

"Diva-isnous", it was. A wordplay so tortured and mangled I'm amazed it sounded good even in his head.

And yeah, I'm not sure if that's meant to be Lien-Da or someone else, and if it IS Lien-Da then what hell is meant to be happening, but either way... she still isn't sexy. His art just utterly sabotages any attempt to visually convey that, and the creepiness he claims is core to the design as well is likewise the result of incompetence rather than design.

Aaand yeah, you're remembering 25YL right... she was basically a Soccer Mom who scowled at everyone and didn't actually do much of anything. Like everyone else. This vision Penders has of Lien-Da is completely at odds with what he actually wrote, and he's basically demanding we see Lien-Da as he does despite not making the effort needed to make her into this villain he claims she is.

Any is fine. It'll probably all make just as much sense in the end, anyway.

I believe he is using ye olde "Z" format, so from top left to bottom right going in a Z.

And I am scratching my head at this tweet. Is he seriously thinking his uncanny valley characters will fit in a Star Trek or Star Wars universe? Pretty sure both already have characters that fit way better.

That page is an absolute mess. It reads like one of Chris Chan's Sonichu comics.

Why yes, there are in fact characters who fit into those universes better. Entire species, as a matter of fact- such as the tentacle headed Nautolans of Star Wars fame.

The reason THESE guys fit in and look cool is because they don't have their origins as cartoony, stylized Echidna from a video game series, nor are they result of trying to squeeze that cartoony, stylized Echidna into a humanoid mold, trying to retain those familiar characteristics into a 'real' dimension that, as you've noted, only creates an Uncanny Valley effect.

Penders can't/won't grasp that because his whole mindset is that doing something at all is worthy of the same kind of praise as doing something well. It's how he can constantly pat himself on his back for his abortive attempts at 'politics' in the Knuckles book. He's the living, breathing definition of an "A for Effort!" guy... only without the effort, and it only ever applies to himself.
