I've been trying to catch up with the EFNW panels and I've been loving them so far. My only disappointment was the Bronypalooza video (some constant sound issues and Mando putting maybe too much feeling on his singing ).

But yeah, I loved everything else, Who's line is it anypony? went as expected (I want to see someone doing something out of this), Dusty's live show was freaking hilarious and I wish he adopted this format in the future (make it the EFR brony talk show :V ), The manly panel was great too (Lee is a riot! His "brony moment" had me laughing for minutes XD ), the storyboard panel was good too (lol'd at the little jabs at Sibsy, shame Wootie wasn't able to attend), the music panel was nice, the impromptu cat piano panel was amazing (I'm expecting people to make remixes with that... I know artists who do great things with less)! And the CMC panel was memetastic! (So far my favorite panel)

Today I'll check the 2 mane VA panels and whatever EFR manages to get out while I'm doing this.

Anyway! Let's get to business! Today is a quite busy day so I'll try to be quick with this one, let's start this...

"Unashamedly biased" edition.

Of Steam Gears and Wings:

Man I still don't know what to thin about the villains of this story... I'm getting kind of impatient about this first arc (of how many? I don't know),

I'm not sure if it was such a good idea to reveal the true villain and his whole plan so early in the story...

Oh well, the next chapters are going to be huge, and I'm not talking about wordcount, I'm speaking about the scale of the conflict that is going to occur.

I'll sure be there to see how it turns out.

Lunar Eternity: (One shot... sort of)

Taking an interesting turn in the 1000 years banishment story.

After defeating Nightmare Moon Celestia doesn't know what to do with her sister, until a pony suggests to cure her via psychological therapy...

So yeah, for safety measures (I mean, who would let a mad god-like being run around?) the ponies decide to establish this facility on the moon, where a group of experts will try to return Luna to her original state...

I guess the most notable flaw on the story would be the (kind of glaring) technological inconsistencies this tale brings, ponies being able to travel to space and establish a highly advanced (I'll leave it as that to avoid spoilers) facility on the moon is a little hard to swallow, the other issue I might have is some of the tags, it's presented as a grimdark/comedy fic... And to be honest I didn't see that much comedy on it (or at least not beyond what one would otherwise tag as a normal story), the grimdark tag is there for a reason, but it's just like... one scene and that's it (some of you might remember fics like My Little Alicorn pulling something akin to this).

Having said that, I think the story is worth a read just for the idea... I could read a ER like story with ponies on it.

And I like the way it ended, not spectacular, but it manages to make sense of how all of this would connect to the canon.

Okay okay!!! I know it's a big thing, but it's true... I'd also like to add that most of the time I try to remain as unbiased as possible while reviewing stuff, I'd like to think most of the time I manage to pull it off quite well (no, I don't want you to point me the "I believe" very few occasions when I didn't manage to do it, thank you very much), but there are some particular cases (again, don't point me how many there are) that makes all my objectivity crumble and spill nothing but love towards the character...

And I think this is one of those occasions.

You might or not know the author but she is the reason I'm making all this wall of text to begin with, paleowriter wrote a story called "How to Woo Your Lady in Nine Easy Steps", I believe you heard me gushing a lot about this one already so I'm going to bring the point that seems to be prevalent in this 2 stories (the one I just mentioned and the one I'm supposed to be talking about).

I freaking love emotionally confused Rarity!

There is something about watching a character having all these feelings and not knowing what to do without them that makes my blood turn into caramel...

There is something about that character being Rarity that makes me explode... twice.

So yeah, paleo seems to be quite good at this (actually, it seems to be the only things she does >_> ) so the moment I saw the fic I was like "buck yeah! I'm so reading this!" The moment I realized who wrote it I stopped reading a 18 chapters story halfway to get to see this one (I might talk about that other fic next week).

So yeah, I'm biased, take this post with a grain of salt.

You know? I find funny how I wrote all this introduction when there is pretty much nothing to talk about the story itself.

The story begins with Rarity being adorable (and kind of creepy, let's face it, once you think about the ship in question you raise an eyebrow or 2), she wants to know about Dragons and how their growth works... It's not like there is a peculiar reason for that or anything!... She is just curious!

Anyway, since her search doesn't seem to bring any results she decides to ask the Princess for help.

A day after she receives a letter from the Sun alicorn not answering her question, but asking her to be part of an incredibly dangerous mission in order to prevent a war, and she has to do it alone.

...

Now, this premise raises a lot of questions, the biggest of them being Why Rarity? It turns out that the mission is about being a mediator between the nation of the dragons and the sea serpents, usually neither would want anypony to mess with their business but Rarity has somehow gained a legendary reputation among the sea reptiles and they are willing to let her and only her take part of the negotiations...

I'm not sure how I feel about the sea serpents thinking the pony who raised the sun and moon for one thousand years is not good enough for them but somehow an unicorn who donated her tail for fashion is legendary, I guess I should feel happy about their fabulous priorities. :V

Taking that off there is not a lot going on yet, Rarity is starting her quest and Sweetie is acting in a way that makes you want to sold her at least...

Let's see how this goes.

My Little Alicorn:

Nothing much to talk about here, I just want to comment that I like the way Cadence is being used here.

The Sisters Doo:

Okay, for everything I said about this one in the previous post I got to admit the last chapter was quite clever.

Not in the sense of story progression or anything like that, but some scenes got some good chuckles out of me...

Namely, a very specific Dash/Daring interaction.

And I'm really interesting in how the Twilight sub-story is going to play out, it seems like something Background Pony would use at some point. (if it weren't so close to ending right now)

I didn't like Cheerilee in this chapter though. :V

Flying High, Falling Hard:

Once again, not much to talk about...

But the triangle is being set up and we got to see an alternate ending to Sonic Rainboom here, I'd like to think that from this point onward the story is going to take it's own path but I can feel the gala is going to play a part on this...

I'd also like to think Fluttershy will have an important role in this, but somehow I feel I'm setting myself up for disappointment. D:

Yeah that bad experience rant smells like bullshit even without the comments contradict it. Was she hanging out in the back alleys where all the shameful outcasts hang out? (so to speak) If she really was there though and wants to make the fanbase look bad, I gotta wonder why she'd PAY to get in, trolling is never worth it if you have to spend money. I'm honestly willing to believe both sides, that there are people who have great times at these cons just as there are those who come across fans like that and have the experience tarnished for them. And regardless of whether this person was exaggerating about what they saw, those replies are repulsive and only prove their point. There are countless horror stories out there about cons and I'm not about to pass them off as nonsense, because this is something I would easily believe occurring in any large gathering of very diverse fans.

You know what, you better not, today's post is for another personal favorite of mine, a party making machine (It has to be a machine, there is no other logical explanation!)... Fillies and gentlecolts, get ready to dance with SimGretina!

01 )

Okay, first of all I should explain that SimGretina is an artist that goes under multiple alias (SimGretina/Kyandi/Frenssu/Anodam), this isn't something it hasn't been done before but I felt the need of explaining myself there (there was another hidden joke there but it was scrapped, I might talk about it later), also, don't expect a lot from the other sides of the author, this list is 100% Sim.

But let's stop talking about the author for now, there is so much to talk about this song! This is the third installment in what seems to be a special project Sim is working on, he makes some pretty awesome tunes centered in each of the mane six (good luck with Applejack :V) but with some interesting twists!

The most notable one is the incorporation of a male counterpart to the pony in question (which is actually the same voice with some sound editing) to sing some parts of the song, the other one is glitches and some hilarious quotes the characters spills (though this one doesn't seem to be present on the first one) and last but not least we got rhythm changes, so well pulled out that you don't even notice them at the beginning, but in fact you are listening like 2 tunes perfectly mixed with each other in the background. (here we have the chorus and the carnival-esque verses, the others 2 have more noticeable and different changes).

This song in specific has a lot of things to note too, like the already mentioned odd quotes that pinkie spills from time to time, the fact Sim seems to have purposely grabbed the least remixed pinkie songs to make this one (and Giggle at the Ghostie), the circus music (that seems to have struck a nerve in some bronies ), Bubble Berry voice... Way too different from the one I pictured but this one it's starting to grow in me, it's a different kind of "annoying" to the one I picked at the beginning... (CIRCUS AFRO CIRCUS AFRO)

Ohh and that chorus! A bit on the repetitive side but I love it! It gives me some heavy Party With Pinkie vibes.

Man I hope I don't talk so much of the other songs like I did with this one. >_>

I can't believe I found a remix of this that actually sounds like something I'd put on an MP3 instead of something to just listen from time to time for the lulz.

This one is by far my favorite remix of the vocal tweet, the way Sim used Tara's voice is amazing.

Second song in the series (yes, I'm going backwards) and this one has a nice rhythm change, I love how it goes from a quite heavy melody (with the drums I think it's the term?) to a more relaxing one (and back to the heavy tune near the end). It makes me think the music is divided betweent the 2 (not counting the "filly") versions of the fashion pony, different styles that would fit the 2 similar yet different characters and their visions of how a fashion show should be produced...

I also makes me think a bit about the soft and rough side this particular pony has and... and I think I'm being biased again and gushing about best pony her. >_>

Oh well... Awesome song!

I was tempted to call this an older remix, but then I'm (again) facing the fact this fandom barely has 2 years of existence...

I think I mentioned this before in a previous post, but Sim has something that I like the call the "Party treatment", which means he grabs some songs from the show and turns them into some dance/party/rave/whatevs worthy tunes. This is only the first of many cool remixes I'll post today.

Sim's At the Gala remix must be one of the most known pieces out there on the bronydom, and it deserves every bit of love it recieves.

While I think the 20% Cooler mix was somewhat disappointing with Rainbow Dash taking such a huge (and repetitive) role (I should have seen it coming with the title though, whoops!?) I have to recognize is an amazing and quite catchy tune (I really love the instrumental and I play it quite frequently)

The Whip Mah Herp mix might not be as known as the 20% cooler version but I actually think it's better, it has a completely different sound (despite being the same tune in the background) which is always a plus and I think it had a better ending (not to mention a better pony distribution, Dash still has the main role here BTW).

Another double pick, This Day Aria is a bit different to what I'm used to hear from Sim (and has an interesting use of the voices) while I've Seen Arias has a more familiar beat (again, both mixes actually have the same melody in the background, they are just played differently), also, "I've Seen" seems to be a more Cadence oriented remix while "This Day" also includes Chrysalis.

I think I like "This Day" more, I've Seen's beat doesn't go so well with Cadence's singing.

Ever since I heard this tune for the first time it got stuck in my head, but in an odd way... Whenever I hear this one it made me think of Sonic. I spend a lot of time thinking why did this happened? What does this tune reminds me? Starlight Zone? Casino Night? Chrome Gadget? Endless Mine? Collision Chaos? Stardust Speedway? Lots of Chaotix tracks whose names I can't remember?

And then I decided to stop looking at the classics and it hit me like a brick wall...

This one reminds me of At Dawn! The drums... Actually... most of the instruments! Not to mention the mellow tune!

This piece is all kinds of amazing! The intro is great, Dusk's voice is simply incredible (by far the best of the genderbents so far) both in the background and when he gets his solo! The change of rhythm at 2:43 is amazing and the ending is like a pretty good mood whiplash, making me feel down after such a great party song. (i'm kind of a sissy if you haven0't noticed at this point)

All in all the best way I think I could have wrapped this up!
