  • NOTICE: TSS Archival Work in Progress, Old Content Notifications May Occur

Apologies in advance if you see some weirdness happen with feeds or notifications.

Hi everyone! I hope you're enjoying the brand new Sonic Stadium experience that we relaunched just a couple weeks ago. Please do let me know if you have any feedback (good or bad) about the new integrated experience in our Feedback Forum right here.

While it was a herculean project just to get this integration complete and out the door, unfortunately for me the work doesn't quite stop just yet. I am currently (in between writing the odd breaking Sonic News story or Sonic Wiki entry) undergoing a long-term archival project which will see all of the Sonic Stadium's old content restored into this new platform.

What this means for you, dear Sonic Stadium account holder, is some possible weirdness every now and then. The way the archival work has to happen, means that old content has to be re-posted here as new content first, then associated with the relevant user/s that posted that content, and then finally backdated to when it was originally posted.

If you ever posted a comment in the old Sonic Stadium Wordpress platform, or you Bookmarked an old existing topic on SSMB to stay notified of any new posts or updates, there's a risk you might receive 'phantom' notifications on your account from time to time. When you click through on those notifications, you'll likely see no new content there (because by the time you check I'll have already backdated that old content I was adding).

There may also be some oddities happening in general, with the site's Activity Feed (where it may show a new update to an ancient topic for some reason) and in various app integrations we have (i.e. our Discord server's "Sonic-News" channel pulls newly-published articles and links through to the site, but sometimes it will think an archive story is 'new' and worth pulling to Discord despite the fact it is fully backdated).

I'm sorry in advance for any inconvenience this causes; it's work that needs to be done, and it will ultimately enrich the site as we fully restore 22 years worth of content. The silver lining is that, as it's such a huge undertaking I won't be doing this 100% of the time, so it's not like you'll be forever experiencing weirdness until the end of time. Just be aware that there will be pockets of time where this kind of thing might occur. For most of you (particularly newer Sonic Stadium account holders who didn't interact with the old Wordpress site), this won't even be an issue.

While I'm here I should mention that, while we restore/migrate all of our archive content, if you're interested in looking at an old Sonic Stadium / Sonic News article from the Wordpress era, you can visit the old site by going to https://archive.sonicstadium.org/

Thanks for your understanding, and I'll be in touch with you all with future (and more exciting) site updates!

The Sonic Stadium may link to retailers and earn a small commission on purchases made from users who click those links. These links will only appear in articles related to the product, in an unobtrusive manner, and do not influence our editorial decisions in any way. All proceeds will go to supporting our community and continued coverage of Sonic the Hedgehog. Thank you in advance for your kind support!
