SEGA Announces Sonic x Medal Dash Partnership - Run For Sonic Merch!

If you fancy getting fit for 2022, SEGA and the virtual run company Medal Dash may have just given you a good incentive. The game publisher and fitness group have announced a partnership that will see the launch of a Sonic the Hedgehog-themed campaign, with medals and exclusive merchandise available for those who take part.

Between now and the end of the year, Sonic fans can sign up to the Medal Dash platform and participate in the branded virtual run - earning rewards for accomplishing a number of challenges. You can run, walk, or hike a range of 5K, 10K or 31.1K distances to be eligible to nab a bunch of goodies, ranging from ceremonial medals to exclusive shirts.

The Sonic the Hedgehog x Medal Dash event can be completed in one day, or across a series of days - the aim seems to be less about endurance and more about encouraging people to keep fit, whether they can do it all in one go or collectively over the course of the year. A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to supporting US charity Feeding America.

SEGA America's Licensing Manager, Michael Cisneros, said about the partnership: "Sonic never shies away from a race, and this was the perfect chance to put participants speed to the test toward a fun, health and wellness cause. We’ve partnered with Medal Dash to make Sonic fans a part of the action while promoting staying fit and having fun in communities across the country.”
