Sonic fans of a certain age might have had the chance to visit SEGA World London during the 90's during it's short tenure at the Trocadero in Picadilly. Unfortunately the theme park had a short tenure, and not long after all of the iconic fixtures were removed.
One such piece was the globe-spinning Sonic statue, positioned to greet the masses of visitors to the park between 1996 and 1999.
The statue, thought to be lost for two decades, was recovered by SEGA after much hard work from the SEGA Forever community who tracked the statue down.
The video posted via the SEGA Forever X account shows the process through which a rather grubby statue was restored to it's former glory...complete with spinning globe!
Those lucky enough to be heading to Gamescom in Germany this week will also get the opportunity to see the statue in the flesh!
Did you see the statue in the 90s, or have you seen it this week? Let us know your happy memories!
