Remember the trademark filing from SEGA Japan about a mysterious new product titled ‘Sonic & Friends’? Well, the filing has been recently updated with a new image revealing the logo.
Discovered by social media user “Genki”, the above logo doesn’t tell us a lot in terms of what the actual product is - but does go some way to communicate the possible tone and focus for the product.
For example, the Sonic head silhouette seen in place of the iconic ‘O’ in the ‘Sonic’ logo matches that of SEGA Japan’s familiar ‘Chibi Sonic’ line of merchandise and branding, and the placement of the lettering suggests a different target audience to the mainline Sonic the Hedgehog game series.
Of course, the reason we believe it could be the name of an upcoming game is because video game terminology is prominent in the trademark’s description, as we reported in our previous story. But there’s a chance the filing could be for something else.
We’ll let you know more about this mysterious new branding as it comes to light!
