Sonic Generations : General Hacking Thread

One cool thing they could is make the Death Egg battle similar to the Sky Chase from Sonic Adventure where you battle the Egg Carrier, but have it have more of a presence. That, or you could fight the Giant Egg Robo, that is by far my favorite classic battle from Sonic 3.

In fact, this is my guess on how the bosses will play out:

-Metal Sonic will be a battle/race against Modern Sonic, in the style of the SA2 battle with Shadow, or a full-on remake of the Stardust Speedway racing sequence, switching from 2D to 3D at points.

-Death Egg will be classic Sonic either battling the Death Ball, or the Giant Egg Robo (perhaps the Sky Sanctuary portion of the game will be a retelling of the quest to get back the Master Emeralds?)

-Perfect Chaos will be nearly identical to the version we saw originally, but with Modern Sonic replacing Super Sonic.

-Classic Sonic will battle Shadow in 2D; the fight could be really great, if done right.

-Modern Sonic will battle Silver; imagine sequences when Silver's stationary and picks up a ton of objects and hurls them at you, and others where you have to chase him while he hovers away. It could be really cool.

-Classic Sonic battles the Egg Dragoon, Rush style

-Both Sonics fight "Time Eater" in different intervals

Either that, or each Sonic fights a different version of each boss, OR each boss battle has its own gimmick. But that seems to conflict with an interview we read where it said some bosses would be fought with Modern Sonic, and others with Classic. I'd honestly really be happy with something like this myself :P

All this over a plane model

I personally see nothing wrong with it.

The other versions look alot better. Unleashed's is pretty meh. Looks like a toy more than anything.

Still have NO idea why people hate the Unleashed model so much.

It's like green eyes all over again.

This might sound really stupid, and Im not a game developer so I dont know how long these things take...

But im confused as to why everyone here seems to know for sure that these are ALL the levels in the game...

I mean we still got at least probably about 3 months until the game comes out...

Isnt that enough time to add like 2 more zones?

Or am I totally wrong?

I mean, im not saying I dont trust this stage list im just wondering why everyone is acting like its totally set in stone. Must be something im missing.

The contents of the game are decided pretty early on, I'd imagine. Unless it's some laid-back indie group or something, they're not going to make major changes late in development unless it's cutting things that they can't finish in time.

It's set in stone because it's coming from the horse's mouth. For them to decide- right now- to add entirely new zones and missions that would be unlocked on the game disk from the outset and to indulge all of the asset creation, level design, programming, testing, music scoring, and headaches that come with that decision, it would be nigh-on impossible for this game to see its proper release date if they wanted the new zones to be the same quality as the others. It's more than likely the reason why Casino Night is just a pinball table and not the actual Casino Night.

So you don't like the shiny, realistic lighting of the Hedgehog Engine?

Because everything from start to finish is there story wise, boss wise, character wise, item wise, super forms and everything else. Besides, developers have to have things like stage lists sorted early in development if they want to reach their deadline and get promotional stuff ready, hence why merchandise partner Jazwares' action figures we saw months back line up perfectly with this.

Isnt that enough time to add like 2 more zones?

Lets see...

Development started in 08. 12 months in a year...2 stages every 3 months...8 stages a year...Over the course of 3 years...

Generations should have 24 different levels.

Looks like it's made of sheet metal and that it could easily fall apart. (which it did)

sonic2008032813100665.th.jpg

This is a little better, one of my faves.

tornadowithboosterinwfz.th.png

I never did like the big ol' thruster thing at the bottom of this one.

sutornado.th.jpg

Some people say this looks like a toy, but why? Because it doesn't have "realistic" metal textures like the first picture? To me this looks like a "modern" bi-plane made with some strong alloy that has alot of strength.

It looks like crap. It looks like a total joke and like a freaking plastic toy!

ANY version of Tornado is MUCH better!

Compare the above pictures to this crap.

You must be blind if you think Unleashed Tornado is better than ANY of the other versions.

You're complaining that the plane looks like a toy when it's coming from a game with colorful animals that look like talking plush dolls?

Okay. :P

I think the toy part comes primarily from the fact that it has really thick edges and is very rounded overall. I can easily see why anyone would say that version has toy-like qualities. Though, I'm pretty apathetic to the Tornado; I don't pay enough attention to the metallic monstrosities this series constantly pumps out to have any real knowledge much less an opinion on the various iterations of said monstrosities.

It just popped into my head there - I remember Aaron Webber commenting on the leaked list not too long ago on the Sega forums and he said something along the lines of some were correct and some we incorrect. That just led me to think that, is there any chance, ST left all this stuff in there to throw us all off, knowing there would be a possibily the game would be teared to bits, like it has?

Just a suggestion but I'm most likely wrong anyway :P

Very, VERY unlikely given Sonic Teams history, but it would be the perfect chance for EPIC trollage.

They could purposely give us false information just because they knew we would milk the demo for all the info it had. However, aside from the potential level list mind-fuckery, everything else seems pretty much expected.

Oo;; Wait, wait, wait. RubyEclipse actually commented on this list... and said that some stuff in it was actually incorrect? Oh dear. I'm hoping he's just referring to things like mission structure or something.

This level list...has SEGA actually commented on it? You never know...there could be more levels than what we're seeing.

More level list rage.

None of the sages are bad choices. They're bad choices collectively. All new City Escape? Awesome! All new Speed Highway? Great! All new Rooftop Run? Brilliant! All new Crisis City? Fantastic? All new City Escape, Speed Highway, Rooftop Run and Crisis City? Oh, er... not so awesome at all.

Yeah, the Tornado's design is "ruined" if they keep that, but not the Tornado itself. I'm not saying the game is "ruined", or the Tornado or anything else but the design.

Stop exagerrating.

I still say these stages may not be totally set in stone, although I seem to be one of the only ones who wouldnt mind if they were.
