What stages do you want to see in Sonic Generations?

Where does he say levels from all main games? And all main games could be- S1, S2, S3K, SA1, SA1, SH, S06, SU, SC. That's main enough, no?

So main it has two SA1s, apparently.

Honestly, I'm so happy about how City Escape was handled that I'd probably be okay with any list of levels at this point, but the sheer level of detail that's gone into it has also redoubled my confidence that there's no way Sonic Team could possibly be stupid enough to use a whole three zones from classic games and use cities for everything else. They gave Omochao a cameo in Classic Sonic's skateboarding segment, for god's sake. Nobody who would do that would subject us to four city zones. Two, sure. Four, absolutely not.

I posted the pics from SEGA's booth showing their timeline of what they consider the main games, check it out. It's 13 titles: Sonic 1, 2, 3, CD, and Knuckles, Adventure, Adventure 2, Heroes, Rush, 2006, Secret Rings, Unleashed, and Colors.

Now that is an interesting list. Only the first Rush and... Secret Rings? I guess that makes sense if they want to give us a taste of the handheld and storybook series just to acknowledge that they exist, although I'd personally have gone with something from Shadow over Secret Rings. Still, I'm not going to complain if it means the place is gonna get rocked one last time. Plus, hey, CD.

I've seen the list. Nothing says that's what they consider to be the main games, it's just how Sonic's evolved over the years.

The fact that they're acknoledging those titles over all the others, including the Advance titles, Black Knight, Rush Adventure, Rivals, or Sonic 4 indicates to me that those games might hold a bit of significance. Take it with a grain of salt, but I think it's more reliable than a line of toys.

The line of toys is made under strict control of SEGA mind you. And the display at E3 could be nothing more than a simple display. I'm totally wanting the same thing as you, but just don't want to get my hopes up.

But if your intent was to create a simple timeline display for the Generations booth why would you include Sonic Rush and not Sonic Rush Adventure? And why would you include Secret Rings, but not Black Knight?

At the same time, it seems more reliable to me, given the appearance of CD and Sonic and Knuckles being classified as it's own game. We'll see what happens though, so far, SEGA has been showing just how awesome we can be. Sure, they canned the special stages, but beyond that, this game is looking too good to have something like that "leaked" list. Still though... we'll see. I just wish we got a specific number of how many stages would appear in the game. Just a list, I don't have to know WHICH levels they would be until later, but that at least would clear up some issues.

Because they're the better known games.

Only a couple stages matter to me.

Sonic Adventure

Necessities:

Lost World, or Sky Deck, or Twinkle Park.

I'll be happy with any of these. All are some of the most layered 3D levels in the franchise. Please no Speed Highway(too many cities) or Emerald Coast(done in 06).

Classic era

Necessities:

Chemical Plant, Hydrocity, Stardust Speedway Act 3. You know why.

Would be great

Lava Reef, Flying Battery

I can live with anything else.

Now I'm curious you guys... based on what levels you'd like to see, what bosses would you like to see return or appear? I mean, these iconic levels need some badass boss fights, eh?

This is my personal list, based on what levels I'd like to see:

Sonic 1, Green Hill: Classic Sonic facing off against the very first boss to grace the Sonic franchise. Sure, it's been done to death, but it just wouldn't feel right it wasn't accounted for here.

Sonic 2, Chemical Plant: Classic Sonic fighting Robotnik's classic machine from this zone. It was honestly one of my favorite bosses from Sonic 2.

Sonic CD, Stardust Speedway: Modern Sonic racing Metal Sonic on an epic 3D speedway. Come on, who doesn't want to see a badass, 3D remake of this iconic race?

Sonic 3, Ice Cap: Modern Sonic facing off a giant, robotic whale over ice, making his move as the whale breaks the ice and tries to strike Sonic. Perhaps time would slow down as the whale prepares for a strike, giving Sonic time to jump and do a homing attack, or something.

Sonic and Knuckles, Sky Sanctuary: Classic Sonic battling Metal Sonic in the same style that Mecha Sonic was fought at the end of the level originally.

Sonic Adventure, Emerald Coast: Modern Sonic battling Perfect Chaos. The boost makes it ideal for Modern Sonic to battle him in nearly the same way as Super Sonic did 11 years ago as he ran over the water of the flooded city.

Sonic Adventure 2, City Escape: Classic Sonic battling Robotnik in a mech resembling the Big Foot mech Sonic fought near the beginning of the game in Adventure 2.

Sonic Heroes, Bingo Highway: Modern Sonic, fighting through an endurance round of robots, similar to the original Robot Carnival boss fight.

Sonic Rush, Water Palace: Classic Sonic, battling Robotnik piloting the boss of this level

Sonic 2006, Crisis City: Modern Sonic battling Iblis, in the same way he battled Perfect Chaos, only running over the lava, though it's harder because if you stop boosting, you'll take damage.

Sonic Unleashed, Rooftop Run: I'd honestly be happy with Classic Sonic fighting a similar robot to the Egg Devil Ray that's piloted by Robotnik, it could be slick with the lasers and all :P

Sonic and the Secret Rings, Dinosaur Jungle: Classic Sonic battling Robotnik in a tyranosaurus rex robot. Perhaps it can be fought similarly to the first boss in Sonic Rush Adventure, but really, who wouldn't like to see ROBOTNIK in a T-Rex mech?!

Sonic Colors, Planet Wisp: Modern Sonic vs. Egg Nega Wisp. In HD. Please. 'nuff said, this was the best Sonic boss in ages.

And of course, I'd like the Super battle to be a remake of Doomsday Zone in some way, perhaps with a slightly different boss in place of the original, with Classic Sonic doing the first part of the battle in 2D, while Modern Sonic gives chase in 3D.

As for the music, I'd really like to hear the original boss tracks from the game each boss is from remade in either a Modern or Classic flavor, depending on the boss, and for the final battle, I'd like to hear an orchestral rendition of Sonic Boom, with Classic Sonic getting his own 16-bit style version. Can it get more epic than that?

So what bosses would you guys like to see?

Let's base the selection on Sega's booth

-Sonic 1: Green Hill Zone (Already in)

-Sonic 2: Chemical Plant (With Casino Night for 3DS already confirmed)

-Sonic CD: Wacky Workbench

-Sonic 3: Ice Cap (Launch Base already in 3DS?)

-Sonic and Knuckles: Sky Sanctuary

-Sonic Adventure: Lost World

-Sonic Adventure 2: City Escape (Already Confirmed)

-Sonic Heroes: Hang Castle

-Sonic Rush: Dunno much Rush levels...and if there are any, maybe they'd be 3DS only

-Sonic 2006: I only liked Crisis City...

-Sonic and the Secret Rings: Dunno any level here

-Sonic Unleashed: Rooftop Run (Already in?)

-Sonic Colors: Aquarium Park

Sonic 2006, Crisis City: Modern Sonic battling Iblis, in the same way he battled Perfect Chaos, only running over the lava, though it's harder because if you stop boosting, you'll take damage.

Sonic Unleashed, Rooftop Run: Either Classic or Modern Sonic facing off against the Egg Devil Ray, I don't care. It was a cool fight and could work well either way, I'd imagine. I'd honestly be happy with Classic Sonic fighting a similar robot piloted by Robotnik, it could be slick with the lasers and all :P

I Like your list dude, you should separate 360/Ps3 stages from 3DS stages

Well, that was the 360/PS3 version, for the 3DS version this is the level and stage list I'd like to see, given how beyond Green Hill Zone they're both apparently totally different:

Sonic 1 - Green Hill, Wrecking Ball (Classic Sonic)

Sonic 2 - Casino Night, "Catcher Robotnik" (Classic Sonic, fought the same way as well all remember)

Sonic CD - Tidal Tempest (The boss is Modern Sonic fighting that giant Chomper while he runs over the water, fought in the same way as my whale idea, but it full 2D)

Sonic 3 - Launch Base, Big Arm (Classic Sonic... duh)

Sonic and Knuckles, Lava Reef (Modern Sonic facing off against the Act 1 boss of this level)

Sonic Adventure, Speed Highway (Classic Sonic battling the Egg Hornet, piloted by Robotnik: fought the same way as the original, but on a 2D plane)

Sonic Adventure 2, Pyramid Cave (Modern Sonic fighting the Egg Golem, but in 2D; could be fought in the same way, but perhaps you can only attack when he does is headbutt on the footholds?)

Sonic Heroes, Mystic Mansion (Modern Sonic fighting through an endurance round of robots)

Sonic Rush, Leaf Storm (Classic Sonic fighting the Act 2 boss of Mushroom Hill)

Sonic 2006, Kingdom Valley (Modern Sonic fighting a 2D version of the Egg Genesis, perhaps fought in a similar way as the final boss of Sonic Rush? Hey, it could work)

Secret Rings, Night Palace (Modern Sonic battling Erazor in full 2D)

Sonic Unleashed, Dragon Road (Classic Sonic battling Robotnik in a long dragon-style machine; it could be fought by having Classic Sonic strike the head while Robotnik's long dragon flies around dropping bombs or firing missiles, or something)

Sonic Colors, Planet Wisp (Modern Sonic, Egg Nega Wisp... again)

Well, that's all I got, anyway. That's my wish list for both versions :P

I didn't believe the list either for all the reasons you've just stated, I just thought that Twitter post was relevant to the topic at hand, especially since the list in itself was debated upon.

And besides, the repetition was fucking nuts: City Escape, Crisis City, Speed Highway, Bingo Highway, and even Chemical Plant could be considered a city stage.

I think very fan-favourites will be featured in the HD versions, despite maybe having a bit of repetetive tropes. While the 3DS one will have more randome stages for the sake of being updated, like Launch Base Zone.

And if Stardust Speedway is in the game, that would be yet another city stage. As much as I would like to see that Metal Sonic race in Generations, I'm more partial towards Collision Chaos myself.

Also, has it been established that only one stage which represent each game, or will there be multiple ones?

SEGA has stated that 360/PS3 version will not include handheld stages, but the 3DS version does,

well, let's do and push my list again

360/Ps3

Classic:

Green Hill

Stardust Speedway (with some outspace session)

Ice Cap

Sky Sancturay

Dreamcast:

Emerald Coast

Twinkle Park

City Escape

Modern:

Bingo Highway

Hang Castle

Mazuri

Aquarium Park

DLC: Lava Reef, Windy Valley, Apotos

I can't really remember any levels from the handhelds (save Rush Adventure, but we know that people won't want that because they're fawning over the Advances) aside from Music Plant, Toy Kingdom, Cyber Track and Chaos Angel. Honestly, I wouldn't be bothered what got in from the Dimps selection.

If they have the Rivals series as counting for the handhelds, I'd love to see Neon Palace or Frontier Canyon. :)

Edit: And it takes Blue Blood to make me realise that it's not Cyber Chase. :/ Still a cool level.

Slingerland seems to indicate that the list is bogus, as most here suspected. That's a relief.

Man you guys don't know how relieved this makes me.

2 acts per zone in 9 zones would be even shorter than unleashed

Yay brad flick
