Collectors will have a busy year, as we're looking at several noteworthy releases from this month and beyond. Expect three new characters and a reprint in the Jakks Pacific 4" line, two new Hallmark ornaments, and a joke book that I'm promised is very funny by its Amazon listing.

New Figures in Jakks Pacific 4" Line - Original post by Failinhearts

Thanks to some Amazon Listings found by Sonic Merch News, we have our first look at the rumored Wave 16 set of Jakks Pacific's four inch figure line! And the leaks were right on the money! This wave has a whopping three brand new characters, two relatively deep cuts and one that's long overdue!

This wave introduces the first four inch Classic Knuckles, with the uncommon accessory of a Purple Chaos Emerald that hasn't been since a Sonic reprint in 2020! We also have a very interesting surprise in the form of Metal Sonic 3.0, with a Red Star Ring! This is the first time in the Jakks' line that a figure has been repainted to represent another character or form entirely, being the same mold as the 4 inch Metal Sonic.

While we don't have a full image, we have a very exciting third figure in the form of Heavy King, with his accessory being his own staff! The product photo even shows that he might have metallic paint, making him potentially even more of a valuable and sought after figure in the range! The fourth figure in the wave is the usual smiling Modern Sonic, with a Checkpoint accessory.

Hallmark Ornaments

Sonic Merch News also reports that we could expect at least two new Sonic series Hallmark ornaments this year, including an animated one. The original Twitter/X post shows off both as samples and/or prototypes.

As the video shows, the Green Hill ornament portrays classic Sonic doing a figure-eight peel-out through the Green Hill loop, complete with several game-accurate details, sound effects, and lighted rings. The nice flat base would makes this just as friendly a desk ornament as it is a tree ornament.

The other is a Christmasy render of Santa-Sonic with a red hat and sack of toys, his waggling finger pointing out all the good and naughty children. Presumably the actual release won't be quite as flat. Or quite as inexpensive as the display suggests.

Sonic the Hedgehog Jokebook

Our final inclusion is (as of writing) a U.K. exclusive "Sonic the Hedgehog Official Joke Book" from publisher Farshore. As pointed out by Dave Luty on Twitter/X, the book will be releasing rather soon, February 26, and for a mere £4.99 on Amazon.co.uk.

And really, how can you pass it up with hilarious entries like "Why is Sonic so bad at sharing? Because he's a hedgehog." You see, it's a comical bit of wordplay. "Hedgehog" refers to Sonic's species, but as a compound word, it contains "hog," which in itself means to take or possess something in a greedy manner. Hence, by being a "hog," it suggests Sonic is bad at sharing even though that's not the entirely intended meaning of the word being used within "hedgehog."

Expect full and complete coverage when I repeatedly pressure Dreadknux to purchase and review this book in full. In full.

The Metal Sonic 3.0's pretty neat. Classic Knuckles is a must have. Another Sonic, another pass. And Metal King...where is Heavy Shinobi?

Rivals 2 niche cut woah. But yes, Metal Sonic 3.0. is more known for the Speed Sim at this point. Heavy King is another good pick.

Great!!...
Let's hope they'll be released in France...
And please JAKKS PAcific, remake the PRIME characters as 4" characters instead of 5", they are way to big when put with the rest of the collection, that's so disappointing...

As always, these are great. Shame the stores have 30 Sonic’s in stock so there’s no reason for them to order more in.

Metal Sonic 3.0, Does that character strongly resemble Shade from the old reality of the Archie Sonic multiverse? Though I'll admit, I'm more into the classic Sonic with the loop and classic Knuckles.

Love all the uncommon character figures coming out! Looking forward to adding that loop ornament to my Sonic ornament collection later this year. :)

TBH, I laughed at a couple of those jokes. The one where Sonic "jogs his memory" and Knuckles making fruit punch by "giving it boxing lessons" are hilarious.

As cheesy as the joke book is, I am slightly amused that there's finally some official acknowledge of the age old "Knock Knock it's Knuckles" joke.

We do home-made Christmas crackers and I'm the one who has to procure the jokes. They'll all be sorry if I use that as an excuse to by the Sonic joke book.

Wasn't there another, equally dire Sonic joke book at one point?

  • 3 weeks later...

The joke book joking that Sonic's middle name is  "the" reminded me of that joke being in Sonic Boom I hope if game Sonic ever has a middle name revealed it's "the" it would be pretty funny to me
