Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has become the first to publish its review score for Sonic Superstars, as advance copies reach store shelves and eagle-eyed fans share details from the latest issue (#1819, if you're so inclined) on the internet. And the overall feeling is... good!

According to a report on Gematsu, the review team at Famitsu has rated the upcoming Sonic adventure with an overall score of 32/40. That's broken down into four identical scores of 8/10 per reviewer.

No further commentary about the game was shared, but one extra detail was published that we found curious: "The game takes about 24 hours to clear, or over 31 hours with side activities," reads the Gematsu article. Whether that is true or not remains to be seen, but with the game out in a few days time, we won't have long to find out for sure.

General review embargo for Sonic Superstars lifts tomorrow - Sonic Stadium will be among those with a first review, so be sure to check back with us for the definitive verdict! We'll also do a roundup of initial review scores from other outlets too, so let's see if Famitsu's parting shot is a sign of things to come!

Is the game really that long? If so, that's actually insane. But for all we know, it could just be the reviewers taking their precious time...

That has to be a mistranslation. I'm sure this should read as 2-4 hours to clear the main campaign with 30+ hours of side content, this would make far more sense.

Makes me wonder what is classed as side content. Secret levels? Character specific adventure lines? Compared to what they deemed as main content

If not, how the heck would 24 hrs work?!?!

There's absolutely no way there's a full 24 hours worth of content unless the player is constantly failing at every possible turn and doing so with every character individually. It has to mean 2-4 hours for the campaign. That's the usual standard classic Sonic length.

The whole '24 hours' thing feels like promotional copy sent to Famitsu by the publisher to print in the magazine, if I'm being honest. I can totally see SEGA sending over a briefing with that kind of detail on it.
