Sega has announced that it will not be releasing a physical version of the Yakuza spin-off game, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, in the western market. The game is set to be released on November 9 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. However, while a physical version will be available in Japan, Sega’s Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has confirmed that boxed copies will not be released outside of Asia. Instead, the game will only be available for download in the western market.

Recent claims made by Ryu Ga Gotoku fan channel KamurochoBros seem to support this decision. The channel stated that it had spoken to retailers who had reached out to Sega and were informed that a physical version of the game would not be released in the United States.

For players who pre-order the game digitally, they will receive a Legendary Fighter Pack that features characters from previous Yakuza titles. This digital-only release follows a recent trend where more players have shifted to purchasing games digitally. The studio behind Alan Wake 2, Remedy Entertainment, also recently announced that its sequel would be released as a digital-only game.
