i have a idea for Sonic 4 Episode 3. Make it like classic Sonics gameplay in Sonic Generations. but add the homing attack.

and you can buy power ups and the boost.

*sigh*

When you make a comment like that following the rest of the discussions had in this topic, nobody is going to take you seriously.

Allow me to remind you, Sonic 4 is supposed to be a classic Sonic game. The boost completely changes that gameplay style and just doesn't fit. Furthermore, Sonic 4's individual episodes are created under the guise that they come together to form one complete product. E1 and E2 are already starkly different as it is, making it hard to see them both as parts of the same game, and yet you want them to differentiate that more for a third instalment? That's ludicrous. The idea for the gameplay? Fine, whatever. I'm not even going to into that, since it's besides the point I'm making at the moment. But something like that couldn't be pegged as Sonic 4 Episode 3. It'd be much better off as it's own game entirely.

As nice as that might be, it would involve re-hauling a game that was both designed for lock-on and didn't make too good of a sales impression. Like Blue said, you're really just better off moving to a Sonic 5 or what have you than to sink time and money into a brand few people are fond of.

The reason why Sonic 4 could not match to the other classic games in my opinion was because of difficulty. Classic Sonic games were known for being challenging, but SEGA was probably trying to make Sonic 4 in my mind to new Sonic fans and casual gamers.

Perhaps i'm wrong. I just thought that Sonic 4 was just way too easy compared the original titles, and didn't give me that sense of accomplishment as I did when I finished Sonic 2.

I didnt say that to piss people off. I came up with that idea when I play Sonic Generations. The more I play woth classic Sonic in that game the more I love it. I dont remember if I make a remark about classic Generations. But I really like the different feel.

And do tell, why do you want Sonic 4 to continue with future instalments to continue in a way completely unlike E1, E2 and EM? Wouldn't it be a million times better off as a new title?

Tell that to Sega. Worked wonders for them when they decided to continue the classic series in this manner with Sonic 4!

I though the Classic Sonic gameplay in Sonic Generations was okay because it was simple Classic Gameplay with a better spindash. So I am very very confused. But I wouldnt want Episode 3 to be different. Kinda the same but wtth opintal powerups.

My favorite zone in Sonic 4 is house of cards

Classic Sonic in Generations isn't quite the same as Classic Sonic in the 2D games. I don't want to get into it right now, and I'm sure others would be happy to, but I'll just leave you with this:

Generations Classic was almost to S1-K as Retro DKC is to Rare DKC. (And wow, that sentence would make not one lick of sense if you didn't know the context) But perhaps a little more different still. If Sonic 4 had played like, looked like and sounded like Generations Classic from the start, it wouldn't have been right but it would have been acceptable. Add the boost and the homing attack to the formula though, and aren't you just playing Rush?

You'd have to get rid of momentum physics first. :P

Really...Sonic's Rush momentum physics work just fine most of the time...its just that the boost makes any kind of momentum useless.

Jump forward and let go of the d-pad. He drops like a rock.

I mainly meant rolling physics...it doesn't gain much speed, but he won't lose speed when going down hill.

Yeah, the rolling physics were better in the 3DS version of Generations, although they still needed a little fine tuning

Sorry for brining this thread up again. I download Sonic 4 for my PC and I want to post my videos here. So far I had no problems with the PC game and its very very fast game. Dashing helps.

It's 1:1 to the Xbox version.

Now try holding down left and right at the same time :P

Classic Sonic in Generations controls very different compared to Sonic 3&K, they tried to emulate it to the best of their ability, but it's still a very different experience.

Surprisingly enough, DIMPS actually got it right with the handheld version, of all the irony.

You seem to be pretty good at the game but one correction: It's Casino Street not Night, Casino Night is from Sonic 2.

Not a bad run.

Here's some tips to go faster: rather than use the homing attack on an enemy when you're already traveling very fast, you should use the regular spin jump. Instead of breaking your flow and locking you into a homing attack pattern, it will instead launch you forward as long as you keep holding right.

Also, have you tried using the homing attack a smidgen below a chain of enemies? If you time it right, instead of doing a full-on homing attack, you'll do the regular dash attack which will utilize the same mechanics of a spin jump and launch you forward the entire chain without having to stop between each enemy. It's a useful speed-running tactic, and it's one way to circumvent the flow-breaking pace of regular gameplay.

Hopefully, those tricks will help you get more speed out of Sonic 4. If nothing else, it'll provide a new challenge to playing the game, and perhaps give it some depth, even. smile.png

Cus' you spindashed. In the classics you never had to spindash to roll down properly. It's not that big of a deal to me though.
