Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS - Settle It In Smash!

As this latest Smash approaches, the future of Project M is looking grey. One of the announcers, (Prog specifically) said that there is a lot to talk about tomorrow, vaguely hinting about the mod and Nintendo. This combined with Peachyhime's comment tells me that Nintendo is not going to make many friends with whatever they plan, even if it is legally within their right.

I'm out of the loop, what's happened recently to push PM onto shakier ground?

I'm out of the loop, what's happened recently to push PM onto shakier ground?

From what I've observed throughout my current head-cold shaken state, I'm assuming the tl;dr is that PM could potentially pose a threat to SSB4's sales if fans deem the former better than the latter - as such they could send a Cease and Desist on the whole project in an attempt to preserve them.

Don't quote me on that though, I'm not feeling right in the head at the moment.

It's pointless to do that though due to SD cards.

It would also be pretty bad publicity for them to do this right now one year after the evo 2013 controversy,

True, but companies don't listen to reason.

True, but companies don't listen to reason.

Depends on the reason, because they are trying to make a profit.

I'm not saying that should excuse their actions, but to me it just helps to have an understanding of why (although that's probably asking a bit too much on my end).

I find it odd that Wario and Metaknight have still not been announced since they were in Brawl from the very beginning. I'd like to see Meta again, even though he was way too OP.

"Pic of the day. This is quite a line-up of characters for the gaming world. I mean, it's amazing enough that Mario can fight Pikachu. I hope you enjoy this truly unique celebration!!"

Oh I will, Sakurai. I will. <3

This picture is truly amazing, and shows that Smash Bros is not only a celebration of Nintendo's history, but video gaming in general. We even got an assist trophy in this game based on Pong!

I think we know for certain now that Snake is not returning.

That's probably one of the best of the daily images so far. Can't wait to get my hands on this game.

I'm actually okay with this.

Haha can you imagine how awkwardly Snake would've fit in with the big four there had he returned?  He was a lot of fun to have in Brawl but yeah no issues with his departure.

LOL yea I just realized this pretty much confirms that snake is not confirmed.

So what happen with not focusing on third party characters sakurai? Lol now we got more third parties than brawl XD but I'm most definitely okay with this.

So let's hope he was lying about them cutscenes being made right?

Lol jks he was probably serious on that one.

After watching the entire smash tourney, I have to say. The Megaman final smash was THE moment of E3. That player that sacrificed himself will go down in history for making this E3 moment. That announcer was wild n out. It was amazing. It made my person MOMENT OF E3.

Apparently, Zero's in the know about something Smash related that he can't disclose yet.

http://smashboards.com/threads/zeros-mystery-announcement.358217/

He says it will benefit the competitive scene and all Smash games, but has no direct effect on Nintendo. Wonder what it is.

You think he's telling the truth? It seems to directly contradict the worries that most competitive players and the commentators have been showing?

I'd LOVE for something like this to be true, but I just can't think of anything that would benefit ALL Smash games? Especially when most of the competitive scene is relatively certain that Project M isn't long for this world.

Fingers crossed..

Zero doesn't have a good reason to lie. Nothing seems to benefit him for doing so.

Besides, it's most likely just something that pertains to tournament organization. If it's not something that can directly affect Nintendo, there's not a lot of stuff that can fit the criteria beyond tournament layouts. And organization is something that can benefit all Smash games, fanhack PM included.

As for Smash 4 itself, seeing as how it hasn't been brought up yet, here are those "leaked" 3DS images of Paalutena:

And here are the official Palutena 3DS images:

Whoever provided the leaked images did a remarkable job. Everything about Palutena there could easily translate over to the official images, aside from a few differences, such as the Power Star trinket around her waist not being there, her belt buckle being larger, and the orb of her staff actually connected to the staff itself instead of levitating.

Here's my impressions from Nintendo World Store.

First off, if you live in NYC, and haven't played Smash Bros yet, definitley go to the NWS. I've read about people waiting outside in Best Buy for almost two hours, but this barely took one. It was a half an hour wait to play Smash Bros Wii-U, and then another 20 minute wait to play Smash Bros 3DS. Very quick experince compared to what I've heard about others' experiences.

For Wii-U, we played two matches. For the first match we all fought on the Coliseum. An excellent stage, nothing too gimmicky and it didn't feel too cramped or too big. I chose Little Mac and holy shit he is fucking amazing. He was so fast, powerful, small, and strong, I almost felt a little bad for the other players. He's definitely a character I'm going to have alot of fun playing with. My favorite newcomer (besides the Pac) so far. Also one of the players used Megaman and got the final smash. We all couldn't help but grin and laugh when the Megaman team showed up and blasted everyone away.

For the second match, I picked Rosalina (only cause someone else picked Megaman). I was surprised, I didn't expect to have that much fun with her, but she's surprisingly a fun character. She was a little weird at first, but I got used to her enough to kick some ass, lol.

We fought on the Dr. Wily stage and.......it wasn't very fun. The Yellow Devil was just too much of a hassle to us, and constricted the already small stage. I'm probably going to play that stage with the hazards off. At the end, it was a sudden death match between me and Megaman. He threw a leaf shield at me and I somehow dodged it and practically threw the Luma at him, sending him flying. Almost laughed my ass off. Rosalina's a really good character, but it'll take some time getting used to her and Luma's attacks.

Overall, The Wii-U version was simply great. those four minutes were a hell of a lot of fun, and I can't wait to go back there and play it again later this weekend.

Onto the 3DS version, first off, if you are planning on playing the 3DS version, ask the staff if you can use your earphones/headphones on the game. He said it was okay, and I was able to hear the music and sound effects, where as there was too much noise for me to hear it on the Wii-U version.

I chose Megaman, and while I can understand why some people thought he was too clunky, I didn't have that much of a problem with him. He felt fluid, natuural, got the job done for the most part, and really kicked ass in the battle after Smash Run.

Speaking of which, we couldn't fight against each other, only CPU, that was a tad bit disappointing. You go through Smash Run once, and then fight off in basically a special mode (Giant, Stamina, Fast, etc). I gotta admit two things, One, when Sakurai said that the 3DS's adventure mode was basically "The Great Maze 2.0", I had a lot of doubts. but no, this is actually a lot more fun. It was pretty cool exploring the giant map trying to beat up enemies and collecting power-ups. Which also brings me to my next point

Smash Run is hard. I got my ass kicked by almost every enemy I found, That shit doesn't play around.

The match aftwards was a giant one, basically everyone was giants. We fought on the Pokemon tower stage. It was alright. Too small to have a real competitive fight, but from what I played it was pretty cool.  After that, it was over. The staff asked me if I enjoyed it, if I had any problems, and genuinely seemed to care for my feedback. I told him it was great, but for the others who did have any problems, I hope their messages reach Sakurai.

Oh and some side notes. While waiting in line, I saw Greninja's Final Smash. He basically traps a player and it cuts to a backdrop of the moon, as he teleports around attacking the player. It was alright.

Also the game crashed for other people. Once on the Dr. Wily stage right as it ended, and again for the guy playing the 3DS version next to me. Couldn't help but feel a bit bad for them.

Finally, I took a really shitty pic of the 3DS' demo's menu screen, just cause

TLDR: Smash is hype. Try it out.

How did you feel about the physics/speed of the game?

So are there any other veteran characters people are hoping for?

I haven't seen much talk about R.O.B or the Ice Climbers. I'm not really sure what I think about them...R.O.B was a nice callback to old Nintendo hardware, but he could've been an assist trophy, leaving the space for a canceled character like Mewtwo or somebody else for Brawl. I've never really payed much attention to the Ice Climbers too. I've tried to play as them, but never really been that good.

For me, I just want the originals, Ice climbers, Wario and G&W to come back. I used to like Falco but that was me not realizing how much of a clone he is too fox and wolf is just a worse version of Fox IMO

And another direct gameplay. Cool.

You can see a new assist trophy in here, i think his name was magnus and was from pit. Either way he's a shitty assist trophy, mostly because you can attack him and he gets stunned
