DiveKick-The future of Fighting games.

You ever played a fighting game and saw that the opponent was so much better than you? They knew all of the character combos, frame data, what's punishable, and just generally made the game look easy.  Well you know what I got to say to that?

 

 

FUCK. THAT. SHIT.

 

 

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present Divekick:

 

 

 

Divekick is an upcoming 2D competitive parody fighting game originally developed by One True Game Studios, an independent collective made up of a group of competitive gamers. A demo of the game was showcased at several competitive events, and after a positive reaction, the group created a Kickstarter campaign to fund the creation of a full version for release on Microsoft Windows.^[1] The Kickstarter project was canceled after it was announced that developer Iron Galaxy Studios had agreed to co-develop and release the game.^[2] The name "Divekick" is a reference to a common mechanic in many fighting games (particularly those created by Capcom) in which some characters can jump in the air and do a diving kick with a sudden increase in momentum. In fighting games, dive kicks are usually very powerful, abusable tactics. The gameplay in Divekickrevolves entirely around this mechanic.

 

 

 

Now even the scrubiest of scrubs can make veterans look like BABIES at a local tourney. Street Fighter? BlazBlue? Smash Bros? BABY GAMES. THIS IS A MAN'S fighting game, and only the manliest can survive.

 

 

There is no release date yet, but is planned for PC and PSN sometime this year.

These controllers are pretty freaking amazing, need to make sure to play this as soon as possible and finally be good at a fighting game!

Haha! scrubs don't know shit about spacing so I can see this being even worse for new players than a regular fighter. 

 

I love the idea behind this game. a game based on pure space control and reflex is a great idea, the hold the line mechanic in particular is an awesome idea!

 

Is the Wolverine type character that launches people into space with his kick MVC3 style still in the game?

Yep, except he (or rather, she) is called Redacted (wonder why ) now.

 

Not certain about the air and ground specials yet, in a way it perhaps detracts from the simplicity of the game. Then again, you also have Kung Pao's double kick from a dive, which I like. Go figure. Plus Uncle Sensei is a brilliant concept with his stance changes...

Yeah, not sure sure about the specials and stuff but it seems to be working. The game has changed quite a bit from their original super simple design though,
