SoaH City's new forums are now up: http://forums.soahcity.com/

We looked through SoaH's history to come up with the perfect modern SoaH forums layout which keeps elements of the old. It should feel somewhat familiar to the older SoaH forum members.

Here's the official SoaH announcement: http://soahcity.com/2015/06/16/soah-city-forums-grand-opening/

Thank you for the support :)

So, based on a quick read, this site was mostly a fansite that archived gaming material, I believe? Or mostly music and videos.

Will it still be doing the same after reconstruction? You could probably also try to rip voice clips and sound effects as well. Would be nice to grab some without the background music.

Correct. Media such as music and wallpapers has always been the site's biggest features. We're improving the media features of the site, but they won't be all the site has to offer any more. The site now focuses on Sonic news, SEGA news, community news, game reviews, fan work, music, wallpapers, videos, arcade games, the SoaH forums, and a lot more.

The site's reconstruction has progressed a lot. It still needs a little clean up and the music section needs to be revamped, however I would say it's around 80% complete.

Thanks for the ideas as well. We will take them into consideration :)

The LOL Sonic feature is being worked on. An individual forum has been created for the event and we're currently working on getting the first round put together. All new rounds will be archived on the main site like the others. It really was a unique feature for the site that's definitely coming back.

We're also looking for news reporters, reviewers, and forums moderators. Information on joining SoaH City's staff team is here: http://forums.soahcity.com/index.php?/topic/263-join-soah-citys-staff-team/#entry3946

I've not been very active these last few years (largely adminning and keeping the site ticking over), but I did see this topic and was aware of the hubbub that went down with SOAH and Neon Chaos. What a shame - but am very happy that it's been reborn. Stritix, you've been doing a fantastic job on it, keep it up. :)

Super-necro-bumping a question goku asked like, two years ago as well, regarding this:

http://www.sonicstadium.org/2001/10/shadow-of-a-hedgehog-stadium/

Basically, I got to know Dennis when we were both starting out and one time we joked about how cool it would be (seeings as we seemed to have the same kind of approach and mentality to things) to merge, and that 'Shadow of a Hedgehog Stadium' popped up as some sort of funny pun. But after a while we started thinking about how that might actually look like and how both of our sites could really grow if we merged (back in 2001, TSS was certainly NOT as big as it is today, the big players were undoubtedly Sonic HQ and Kedzie-K's The Sonic Foundation). I made a mock design which combined the structure of SOAH (the dark reds, the black backgrounds) with the imagery and content layout of TSS.

Ultimately we both lost interest in going through with it for a number of reasons - we both realised that our individual sites were on a growth path so merging would stunt both sites, and we were worried that it could have led to our friendship turning sour as two webmasters would probably try to claim more ownership of such a site over the other.

I suppose more information can be found here (I thought it was easily accessible from the site but it appears that it's been buried and not directly linked to), along with a bunch of other old layouts :)

Thank you. I'm glad you like the new SoaH City. :)

SoaH Stadium sounds pretty interesting. I wonder what would have happened if both sites had merged back then. It's crazy to think that was back in 2001 and how both sites are not just still standing a decade and a half later, but how much they have grown since then.
