Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed...!

If the bonus edition is the same price as the normal one... that means the extra content is likely to be digital extras, such as additional characters and the like.

From the Game.co.uk website... has the bit in bold/underlined been said yet?

From the Wii-U version of the game, price is £50.

Yeah, that was in the game's announcement press release, which I think is what GAME's description quotes. S0L's also spoken about it before.

They never said any Sega characters would be exclusives.

They did, read the TSS article again.

At best, we can surmise that the "exclusive SEGA characters" will be exclusive by way of the HD versions have a few more than the 3DS and iOS versions due to space restrictions.

I can totally see this being the case, especially when you consider that the DS and iOS versions of the original had the same happen.

Mario and Sonic have starred in four games together, any rivalry between them is pretty much dead, so it isn't IMPOSSIBLE for Mario to be in this game.

What, the Mario & Sonic games? Those games are completely detatched from anything to do with their respective franchises or gameplay and are just terrible minigame-fests designed to cash in on people who want to see the mascots collide in a real game together. This is not at all evidence of their rivalry being dead, and in fact it should be clear that with this game their rivalry is very much alive. All parties seriously interested in this game feel antagonized whenever it's compared to Mario Kart 7 so there's your proof.

iOS has space restrictions? No it doesn't. Not at all. I've seen apps that go beyond 5GB.

No, apps themselves are not restricted by their size, but if they're too big, fewer people will download them or keep them on their devices. I had both Lego Harry Potter and Street Fighter IV on my 8gb iPhone and had to deleted them after playing them through due to them being big files. Imagine if Transformed hits iOS and is 2 or 3 GB in size, that would take up half of an 8gb's memory or 1/5th a 16gb's memory.

Better to release a smaller app and add racers via updates or have them in a in-game shop to purchase and download. Saves on the file size and lets the hardcore fans download as much as they'd like.

I hope that's the case...

I'm confused. I thought there were supposed to be 30 characters overall- 27 SEGA characters (which I think S0L confirmed?) and 3 guests (which S0L DID confirm that there was a third one beyond the two we already know about).

What's going on with that?

You've got your wires crossed. It's not until very recently that any number of characters has been confirmed. There's not 30 characters.

Some of us, including me, thought that Zavvi description stating 27 characters was the final total minus the 3 guest characters, but now we know that's not the case thanks to S0L announcing the official overall number of 29.

Does a character model actually beef up the file size? Doesn't sound like cutting 1 or 2 characters would dramatically decrease the size. Especially since the 3DS/iOS versions will be using lower poly models.

It does. Remember that an average character would consist of 4 different models, (A car, a boat, a plane, and the character itself.) some more models for the all star move, textures for all those models, animations for the character, voice clips, a jingle that plays during the all star move, an icon for the all star move, and an icon for the character select screen.

S0L says here that all 16 tracks are completely different. So looks like Sonic's only getting one track.

Good.

Well, S&SASR is 310 MB in size, I don't think Transformed will be 10 times as big. A 3DS game like New Super Mario Bros. 2 is 370 MB big. I think SEGA will try to handle this and keep the size under 1 GB. But honestly I don't care, even though my broadband internet is rather slow...

Where abouts does he say that? Not watching 36 minutes just for context of one line. Did he explicitly say each track is a unique IP? Because that doesn't mean we can't have multiple "different" Sonic tracks like we got last time with the three different flavours of Sonic track (just that it would be 1 track per flavour this time).

Technically we'll be getting 2 Sonic tracks. One new one and the revamped Death Egg. We've seen this 2 rule play out with JSR already.

At the 27 minute mark. "We've got one IP per NEW track. This time we have 16 totally different tracks from totally different games"

He didn't say IPs though, so we may see multiple Sonic tracks, but from different games. So it's possible we'll have a sort of Son ic Generations thing going where we get a track from a Genesis game, a track from a Dreamcast game and a track from a modern era game.

Exactly. We'll also be seeing two JSR tracks and two Monkey Ball tracks. THough in the case of JSR it could end up being a JSR and JSRF split.

Personally I'd love to see Death Egg + a Genesis era track from a stage never recreated in any other game before (like Lava Reef or Hydrocity Zone or Marble Zone) + Dreamcast era track from a stage never recreated before + a modern era stage from Sonic Colors

Yeah, I'd be cool with 3 or so Sonic tracks plus the Death Egg. Though if there IS only one new Sonic track, oh well, at least the Death Egg track will be new for me since I didn't waste the money on it back in the first game.

(Not to offend your work of course Sumo guys, I'd have totally paid something for it but it was just priced way too expensively for the amount of content).

the variety in Sonic locations and "worlds" is so big that I wouldn't really mind about having 4-5 Sonic stages if their choices are original and well executed. Environments like the Casino one are really important and unique

Yeah, I really hope we get a few Sonic levels... I'd go with Hydrocity, Mission Street, and Aquarium Park personally if I were in charge. I don't think I want any more than 3 + 1 (with the extra being the Death Egg Hangar, of course) Sonic stages though.

I hope we get something from Space Channel 5 this time, too. With

music.

As long ast the Sonic levels represents what Sonic is, I'm fine with what they choose.(Unless it's a freakin generations stage!)
